Extremely poor service and slow as snail kitchen to match. Had to wait over 1 hour before getting water and 2 hours before getting appetizers. DON’T GO!!!

The club just reopened with a spanking refurbishment and with the most strangest name ever ‘Cinema’ …maybe a way to get on google search results or something but I can guarantee people will assume that Maro has closed and is now a cinema. Having been the last two weekends, being it was TIFF week this place attracted its fair share of celebs especially for the CAA party, that is how good it is. The downstairs room and bar is quiet as always, my suggestion, sound proof it from upstairs and play some chilled out tunes to get more people to use the space and bar or just be totally awesome and stick an indoor pool! The upstairs is where the money has gone. Seating in the main area is now around a central area which also house two small trees!(not sure if they are real), this solves the previous problem of sofas and tables being on the dance floor area and people getting pissed off at other people about it. The dance floor area is now more defined with an awesome DJ set-up involving a raised area and some cool LED lighting. A bad experience with the security can put a downer on the whole night. Not the case here, the usual guy on the guest list queue was polite and kept the people moving. Service in the bar was also great so again no complaints. This is the usual venue for fancy pants Saturdays.

Went to Maro last night to celebrate 3 Birthday’s with a large group of friends. We arrived just a bit before 11 so there wasn’t a lineup outside yet. However, the people working outside were having a bit of trouble organizing us and getting us in. We got in free(guys and girls). The interior décor of Maro is very nice… much nicer than a typical club in the entertainment district. The theme was pretty asian and there were a lot of asians from what we all saw. There are plenty of stalls in the washroom but as the night went on toilet paper started to disappear. Usually you would expect a washroom attendant inside the washroom but there weren’t any. The drinks arrived quickly and the drinks weren’t watered down. The whiskey sour my friend got for me was pretty strong(I was drunk so if it’s strong, it definitely really is). I asked the bartender to make it less strong so she added more limes and soda for me. I almost got kicked out by one of the bouncers but he was nice enough to listen to me and agreed to let me stay(y). There was also free iced tea beer given out on the patio and a lot of us kept getting more. The music was great at times and other times were just okay. They varied it up with house and R&B. The biggest con there was a fight that happened inside the club. They were taken outside but then it escalated and it was pretty bad that cops had to show up. Maro shut down early because of the fight. Overall, it was a pretty good time! I would go again if I was invited to a Birthday but I wouldn’t pick this place if I wanted to go clubbing as my number one choice.

Similar to Bobby’s post I’m giving this place a 5 star however I think it actually deserves it. Guestlist was easy by email, arrived at 1030pm, line bypass, no crazy pat down only had to flash my ID and coat check seemed to move quick. Was originally worried cause you enter through the bottom floor and it looks small and dingy, kinda like Cobra but once you get upstairs it’s an amazing place, almost looks like a Vegas club. Anyway people were cool, no hipster, yuppies or thugs, 25+mixed crowd. Bartenders were quick so you weren’t waiting forever. Music was great as well as they played a lot top 40’s and didn’t cut away from them too fast as many dj’s seem to do now a days with mixing. They were even giving away free cocktails and they were actually strong! All in all, I’ll be back for sure, thank goodness for Maro cause Easy is played out. PS. The name Maro is awesome to mess with your friends too, «Are you bringing Joe to Maro?»… «What tomorrow, where are we going?» … Doesn’t get old, believe me.

Although there have been some fairly poor reviews below me about Maro, for those of you that are reading this, please take note that those reviews are dated and that Maro has recently been purchased by the same owners of Kleen Media and they put Maro through a complete makeover. Ever since the takeover, the place has seen remarkable changes in staff. The restaurant’s back end has seen a complete change and the quality of food is now superb. Although if you are planning on dining late, due expect the tables and chairs to be moved around while you are dining(around 11pm). Great thing though is if you decide to stay afterwards, the parties at Maro are always nuts, the place is packed, but because there are two floors there is always room to move around. I definitely recommend this place to friends, and if you ever want to come out and party, you know where to find me ;) BUT if you are planning on dropping by, do it soon as Maro is going to be stripped down to the bone in a few weeks for renovations! Came here for a birthday on a Saturday night. My experience may be a little skewed because we had dinner here first(at 8pm-10:30pm). Immediately after our dinner was over, the staff came and packed away the tables, and at 11pm, the place filled up very quickly and turned into a night-club type spot. Dinner: The food was pretty good, bottles of wine were reasonably priced, surprisingly. The only gripe I’d have is we waited a little long for our food Dancing/lounge: I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of alcohol. It wasn’t bad at all for a nice venue like this. I don’t know if normally you have to pay cover, since I was there for dinner and didn’t have to pay. The best part about this place is that it’s remote away from the downtown core, and there is a huge green P lot right in front of the the place. Parking was $ 4 of the night and it was super convenient.

DON’T BELIEVETHEWEBSITE! This is not a nice place. Dressed up, got bottle service, a booth, etc… for GF’s birthday. Bouncers are still rude, service was terrible, even though we were supposed to have a cocktail waitress for us and us only(we booked a booth for 20, with commensurate amount of bottles). Didn’t get the sandwich platter that was supposed to come with our 3 bottle(i.e. $ 600) minimum. It was also dirty. If you are reading this: I would not put any effort into making your evening happen here.

I am not a club person at all so this is an alternative to going down to the entertainment district. Maro is 23 plus so there aren’t frat guys and sorrority girls everywhere. It feels very VIP, not just anyone can get it. In the description is says there is no coat check, that is wrong. The décor is fab, u know u are in a nice spot when the washrooms have red demask wallpaper, so pretty. The drinks are on the pricey side, 7 dollars per shot, but this is toronto so be prepared to spend. There is only one room, meaning only one type of music. They mix euro with top 40 and some hip hop. I would definetely go back.

We went there on a friday night for dinner, and the place was empty except for two other people dining. Our food was thrown together like the chef was trying to get out of there. The meat was charred on the outside and rare on the inside. It’s always a shame when you go to a really nice looking restaurant, with what appears to be a really posh and cool looking space with a lot of potential, and it turns out you could’ve done a better job cooking at home. If the club aspect is their true attraction, then they should stick to it, cause the food is not worth it.

this place may be okay for a night of dancing but not for dinner. my friend decided to have her bday dinner there and we were forced to have a pre-fix menu. the steak was awful and it was burnt. i should have used the cost of the meal to buy my friend a nice birthday present. the dessert was a brownie that i could have bought at a convenient store.

ok, so this is a place where ppl take themselves pretty seriously-it’s a «big night out» in the city for those who are clearly not from the city. In all fairness, it’s a nice space and has a great sound system… too bad the music is terrible. kind of a shame considering the potential of the area.

I should start off by saying, I am NOT a club person by any stretch of the imagination. The very thought of it sends shivers up my spine. But my friend was leaving the country, so I gave in and decided to pop by and say my g-bye for now. First off, this place is sorta in the middle of nowhere land. Almost an industrial area. We were charged a $ 10 cover as well(not impressed with that). The place ozzzzed slickness and superficism, like most clubs. Where clubs are concerned, it wasn’t a bad place. there was a japanese restaurant type sushi bar and the bar was quite busy. my two friends and I(also not fond of the club scene) ended up staying 30 minutes and leaving. I felt jipped of my $ 10. Lesson learned.
