Long time ago, we used to like this place for pizza. Had a falling out with a strike of really bad experiences(missing toppings, unasked substitutions, and cold very late delivery), and stopped ordering. Tonight we decided to give it one more try. Bad, bad mistake. There is such a thing as bad pizza. As a matter of fact, very awful, so bad you will swear off never ever again to eat pizza in your entire life. That was Mamma’s at 334 Yonge St. this evening. We ordered an extra large thin crust pizza with tomato slices, spicy soppressata, and spinach(we wanted the rapini but like every other time we have tried to order it, they claimed they had run out of it … I just suspect they don’t even carry it). We also ordered chicken wings with hot sauce on the wings, and potato wedges(plus a ranch dipping sauce which was quite likely past the expiration date as it tasted completely off). The only edible item was the potato wedges. The chicken wings were barely warm, although we requested them double baked, and there was absolutely no hot sauce on them. They tasted like re-heated chicken in the microwave oven, splattered in cheap ketchup. The manager of the place claimed it was the fault of the company as they send him the wings that way(could barely understand what he was trying to say). The pizza could have saved things. No such luck. Cut like someone tried to really kill it because of how bad it was, the soppressata(a premium ingredient) was almost entirely absent. But the worst were texture and flavour of the most basic ingredient, the pizza dough. It had the texture of cardboard and tasted much much worse than cardboard itself. Think the worst piece of bread you have ever put in your mouth and make it worse by a factor of several hundred. We tried. Pizza is so easy to eat. But after two bites, it was impossible. I forced myself to chew the first bite down, but I had to put the second bite back in the napkin and to the compost bin(and I was not alone doing this). The entire extra-large pizza made it quite quickly to the compost bit as we couldn’t get rid of it out of our house fast enough. We called to complain. The manager said the wings were not his fault and that he would give us a pizza for free to pick up(not for delivery) next time. Really? Not even worth even if it is free. He owes me $ 45 for this experience. Avoid at all costs. This is quite honestly the worst pizza I have had since I can remember(and the only one I remember not being able to at least eat one full slice).

Utter disappointment. This establishment is an utter disaster. I wish I could give this place –5 stars

I always get Hawaiian style pizza. Since my arrival in Toronto, all I saw was pizza joints so I figured I must try at least one. Mamma’s Pizza was the first and it was pretty good. Thin-crust, your standard pizza. I wish my slices had more pineapple and ham on it, that’s my only complaint. Overall, nothing too special or memory worthy.

When I first got to Toronto, Mamma’s Pizza was one of the few«gourmet» pizza joints. When I checked out their menu for the first time and saw broccoli offered as a topping, I was all, «Holy crap, this is frou-frou!» and never stood in line at Pizza Pizza again. It was and continues to be heaps tastier than neighbouring Pizza Pizza, Amato’s, and Big Slice north on Yonge. Though the gourmet thing isn’t so special anymore, it just cooks up a reliable, greasy slice. The only problem with this particular location is its lack of a seating area, though I hesitate to think of any pizzeria that actually has a decent place to dine. May not be so good in the winter months, but great for that quick summer pizza break. Can get a little gross standing there, elbow to elbow with a group of other sweaty pizza buyers.
