Some notable changes since my last glowing review of this place: 1) The ox tail recipe has been changed to some salty mess of a dish. It’s nowhere near being as good as Pat’s anymore. It’s kind of not-so-good. 2) Tuesdays are rammed with people. The line-ups can get real long at lunch. 3) You can get a regular $ 3 meal any day of the week — that’s only fifty cents more than the Toonie Tuesday special. 4) The staff here has changed over too. The one cashier who I loved is now gone. It’s become less friendly, more cold. I still like this place a lot, and the options are limited in this area. Unfortunately, it’s now rather average.

Nooooo. senior superman no home. Unfortunately the $ 2.50 Jerk Chicken just wasn’t worth it, I tell you what. I’ve been dying to find a great Jerk place near me for the last five years now, and this place wasn’t it. This dive located in the former Burger King spot in Flemingdon park, is a mess. There’s about 4 or 5 scattered tables. Upon entering, the cashier, the manager/owner and the kitchen staff were all screaming at each other in this open concept area. Now all of this could be forgiven, in fact it’d be «character» if the food was any good. 1) The chicken does not taste anything like Jerk. It lacked any«all spice» flavour that Jerk is based on. My standard now is what I had in Ochos Rios from the Rastafarian who served me directly from his drum fired bbq. He also gave me a handful of the«all spice» leaves(which I didn’t know it came from a leaf) that he had the chicken marinating in. Anyways, Mainsha’s chicken tasted like bbq sauce from a kraft bottle. I should know as I make BBQ chicken legs every other week. 2) No ‘slaw. It was actually why the staff were arguing, as the kitchen ladies refused to make more slaw saying that it was the day shifts job, not theirs. Blahblah blah. 3) Fine. then I asked for a patty(hoping it was home made) and coco bun. Guess what? Nooooo. they didn’t have that either. Bah. the only reason it’s not one star right now is that, I’ll usually only give one star ratings after at least 2 visits. I’m just not sure I’ll be returning. I guess it’s back to Mr. Jerks at the Peanut Plaza for me.
