I love this place to death after a night of drinking cold beers, and funny enough the last few times I’ve gone the rain was just pouring down like a bucket of slop water. There’s nothing fancy about this joint, the room is rather dirty looking, and the ready made curries sit in the same pots that they were cooked in while flies buzz around. No hipsters here, place is filled with late night Pakistani cabbies and young political types that seem to be debating current events from their home country of Pakistan. The TV blasts with news in native Urdu, and metal pitchers of luke warm water wait for you to drink after eating what I think is some real tasty curry and kebabs. The Naan bread is made fresh and it is by far the best I’ve had on Gerrard Street East! I usually go for the Lentil Curry and sometimes a piece of almost warm chicken in a delicious broth — I usually order extra Naan so I can sop up all the juices. There’s no forks or knives, so you’re forced to eat with your hands. I bet these guys are laughing their faces off while this 6 Foot white dude dives into curry with a drunken tilt — but honestly, I’m pretty cool, I’m not a slob. By now they already know my face, and I’m sure suspicions that I’m some sort of undercover RCMP agent searching for the next Via Rail bomber has slipped their thoughts. It must be noted that it’s dirt cheap to eat there, and with no hipsters around fresh delicious food gets to your table pronto!
