Went in for my first time here… thought I’d try a new spot! So I wanted to buy lunch special for $ 6. cashier tried to over charge me. I received very bad attitude from cashier when I asked for explanation. I will never return here again.

First off, this is a four-star rating because the BBQ chicken gets seven stars and the rest of the food gets two. Secondly, I have not tried the chicken. BUT I have made D and a variety of my friends try it three times now to be sure of the overall impression. I have smelled it, taken it apart and made leftovers with it. Because of all of this, and the fact that I have experienced their customer service on numerous occasions picking chicken up for D, AND the fact that I have tried a bunch of their other food… because of all of THAT, I feel it’s fair to review. So officially, they deem themselves to be «South America, Peruvian & Chinese Food»… we have a mish-mash of food available here. Though I hadn’t heard about it until doing a little bit of research, this is a traditional«Chifa”-style establishment. Check out what Wikipedia has to say about Chifa: «Chifa is a term used in Peru to refer to a style of food produced by the fusion of creole Limean food with Chinese food brought by Chinese immigrants mainly from the southern province of Guangdong and particularly its capital city Canton in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is also used to define a restaurant where this type of food is served.[1] Chifa has become one of the most popular types of food in Peru and has achieved international fame.» So yeah. You can see why I categorized it as BBQ/Chinese/Spanish… That said, It’s also smack-dab in the middle of a Portuguese neighbourhood full of other BBQ chicken/churrasco places, so I can’t help but compare. We’ll try them all(in our area) and make a list! Promise! Their dishes are divided into categories: ARROZ(rice), TALLARIN(noodle), SOPA(soup), POLLOS(chicken), CHANCHOASADO(bbq pork), CARNES(beef), MARISCO(seafood), TORTILLA(omlette), POLLO A LABRASA(bbq chicken) and of course, BEBIDA(beverages). What language is that, I wonder? Peruvian? Anyone know? IMHO, it’s not a place to sit and stay ATALL! This is a take-away place for SURE! The tables are grody to the max. Think Subway tables. Mall food court tables. Not a place to linger. We always take it home, and with their smart packaging(OK just styrofoam and plastic bags, but whatever. We live 3 blocks away), we never have to re-heat. Leftovers stay moist for up to three days, we’ve found. They re-heat well, and we’ve turned them into pasta sauces, fajitas, chicken caesar salads, chicken lasagna, wraps, etc… you get the idea. It stays moist and is lovely to cook with — it is also very easy to get off the bone… and smells DIVINE! I guess it’s just a wonderful, versatile seasoning… The chicken comes in a variety of sizes/servings and comes with fries and a salad. The fries are good, but not as good as St. Matthew’s! And while I’m on the subject, it’s a shame that St. M’s gets all the chicken buzz around here! It’s another BBQ chicken/churrasco place that’s a few doors down from King’s but the chicken is soooo not as good there! Fries are better, but come on. You’re deciding between two chicken places, not two chuckwagons! The other food available at King’s is nearly all meat-oriented too, but I have tried the chow mein/noodle dishes with veggies. Forgettable, greasy, tasteless, and nearly NO vegetables. It’s like 3 pounds of noodles with some tiny shreds of cabbage and a few carrot slivers. The rice is fine, kind of the same deal as the noodles. Not worth eating here if you don’t eat meat, as far as I’m concerned. If D is getting supper here, I’ll make something for myself at home or grab a slice of pizza or something to go. Apparently, they do delivery, catering and parties too… I dunno about that… unless it was a chicken party, I suppose…
