I dont really rate grocieries store but i rated this one because they had some good interesting fruits that you usually dont see in america. Ive tried many dragon fruit in america and for some reason they are never good. First got addicted to dragon fruit when i went to hong kong. Bought red dragon fruit, orange passion fruit, and yellow dragon fruit. I got these because i have not seen them at any grocery stores in america. All were sweet and good.

Besides the awesome name(My initials)… I really enjoy coming here to pick up tropical fruit. They have a smaller selection, which I like because I find the quality is great and everything is pretty clean in comparison to the bigger«all in one» type stores close by. I feel the prices are fair for what I am buying. Each time I find myself here it is because I am feeling like trying some new fruit I haven’t tried before. I always have asked questions regarding my selection, etc. and they have been very helpful. I am happy to give them my business and will continue stopping here for my fruit and fruit inquiries!

This place wins because you can buy mangosteens out of a bin. My usual Asian markets try to sell me a bag of them(which is too many) when I really only need two. Aside from the mangosteen they also have the usual suspects like dragon fruit, durian, jackfruit, mango, rambutan, etc. There’s a ton of stuff here that you won’t find at Loblaws so it’s always good if you are looking to try something new.

You can walk around China Town for hours, buy as many exotic fruits as you want, but nothing will come close to the quality at K&K. K&K focuses on actually getting there stuff from southeast asia, where majority of the stores get the same fruit from mexico. It’s cheaper and closer. But there’s a big difference in the quality and sweetness. A special shout out as well to K&K for being the only store in china town to sell Calamansi. Unbelievable little place. It’s worth the buck or two extra.

On our recent trip to Toronto, we were told that we’ll find in this place an indigenous Southeast Asian fruit called lanzones …(they have a festival in the Philippines, )…This is not available in the US, so it was such a treat to finally eat this very sweet and succulent fruit after almost 20 yrs! They have a variety of other fruits such as sugar-apple(atis), chico, rambutan. Staff is definitely very friendly and helpful.

Thank you Canada!!! Thank you k & k for providing Asian fruit that many Asians miss so much after immigrating to the US and Canada. This review is to inform other filipinos that this place(actually all the fruit specialty stores in this street) sell lanzones(longkong), atis, rambutan etc… Lanzones is banned in the US so if your having a carving or just longing for a taste of home, you can find it here. My family and I bought lanzones which was $ 6.99 a lb but it was so worth it! The fruits were big, fresh and so sweet!!! Definitely worth the long drive to Canada!

The purpose of the trip to Toronto was because of the exotic fruits. We got a whole load of fruits before we landed in America. We ate sooo much our stomach was sooo FULL! The rambutan and mangosteens were so refreshing. It was delicious! On the other hand, we bought custard apples and it was not so good. It was so soft, to the point where when we brought it into the car, it became all slimy and gross on us. We also got another fruit, but I am unsure what it is called. It looks almost like big logans but it is not. it tastes pretty good, but the batch that we had, had a problem. Let me just say I hate insects! There was an ant crawling on it and I told my sister in law, she killed it. Then I saw another crawling and I was like wow, nice job Chi, its still living. lol. Then she’s like what? I killed it, she took the batch away from me, and right in front of my face, an ANTINFESTPARTY! They were living in the branches and eating the nectaries off the sap. My dad was like what is it? give it to me. Then he took out one fruit at a time, he’s like«its nothing.» Then when there were only 3 fruits left, he noticed all of the ants and threw it into the bag, tied it and said«I think that’s enough for now.» Even he was disgusted lol Also, ordered some sugar cane drinks, it is soo much cheaper over there than in Boston, tastes so refreshing! Nice exotic fruit shop, just wished some things were a big fresher and cleaner.

When I start to get tired of the usual pineapples, mangoes, and other tropical fruits that standard grocery stores offer I make a trip to Spadina and Dundas to visit K&K. They carry a wide range of tropical Asian fruits and there’s usually something unique that I haven’t tried before. The quality is always high, prices are good, and the staff are knowledgeable, though some of them have limited English. K&K is one of the few places in the city to get mangosteens, one of my all time favourite fruits. You can also stock up on rambutans, mangoes, dragon fruit, and sweetsops(aka sugar-apple). If you’re a tropical fruit connoisseur, this is the place to stock up on your favourites. If you’ve never heard of a mangosteen before, get yourself to K&K to see what you’re missing.

This produce store specializes in fruits from Southeast Asia, many of which are not available in the US. if you are a fan of Asian food this place is a MUSTVISIT if you are in Toronto. Dragon Fruit, Mangosteens, Rambutan, Custard Apples, Mangoes from Vietnam and Thailand, many more. The staff are friendly and helpful. When the woman at the register saw I was buying Dragon Fruit she smiled and said to make sure that I tried the Custard Apple which she said I’d like even more. She was right. Quality is high. They’re located just north of the intersection of Spadina and Dundas.

Of the produce markets in Chinatown, I’d have to say this one is my favourite. The business is smokin’, with a high turnover of customers and, therefore, has fruit that is actually… bunh-bunh-BUNH… not bruised and in tact. BONUS! Their fruit specials so fantastic(berries are usually 3 for $ 5) that it kind of makes me wonder who’s suffering because of it. I feel a little bad until I go home and start devouring what I’ve purchased. I’m a bad, bad lady. Anyway, in addition to those cheapie berries, K&K also offers a lot of the cool tropical fruits popular in Asia, like mangosteens, jackfruit, and rambutans, and everything in stock is labelled with«SWEET» as an adjective. As far as I’ve tested the theory, they’ve been kinda right, too, although if you can show me a «SWEET» avocado, you deserve the ultimate foodie award.
