History
Established in 2002.
Joyce Jones, the founder of Joy of Dance, believes that you cannot explain the JOY of dancing, it must be experienced. Much like an «existential encounter», it is an opportunity to make contact with another human being, an increasingly rare experience in our high-tech society.
Working with her daughter, Jennifer, they together wanted to create a space for students to experience dance, taught by professional teachers. To this end, they launched the first Ballroom Teachers Training program in Canada, where students will graduate with a certificate in the DVIDA Program.
Starting off as Ballroom, Latin, Salsa and social dancing, Joy of Dance has evolved to take on a multitude of different styles from HipHop to Bollywood to Burlesque and fitness (Zumba, Nia), as well as a Kids/Teens Day Camp.
Meet the Manager
Jennifer J.
Manager
Jennifer is the Studio Director and co-founder with her Mother, Joyce.
She has over 12 years of experience in marketing and communications combined with leadership, research and program development. Working for a variety of organizations — ranging from universities to corporations — she has faced unique challenges and opportunities that have all allowed her to develop a broad base of experience.
The Joy of Dance Studio represents a combination of challenges and passions for Jennifer, both of which inspire her to reach new heights of success and health. The greatest reward is her partnership with her mother.
