This place I pretty fabulous. The owner really know her stuff and it’s nice to see that the I always a variety of new items + they stay on top of the latest trends. The prices are a bit high but honestly it well worth it. I purchased a pair of rag and bone jeans and I haven’t taken them off. I truly believe is quality versus quantity. I recently just purchased another pair of jeans and the ladies were super friendly ad very helpful. Non pretentious and inviting. I will come back over and over again!

I love this store! The staff is helpful and friendly, and they have a great selection of women’s designer clothing. They also have seasonal sales that are actually sales. The mens section is a little small, and I rarely find anything for my partner here, but that’s my only complaint, and hinges mostly on his personal style. They’re more HBA than Rick Owens.

Love this store. Staff is really friendly and always happy to help and they carry the best brands. It’s designer so it’s obviously expensive so I don’t shop regularly here (wish I could) but whenever I come in the staff is ALWAYS so nice and helpful. Love the experience I get here, and plus I love the minimal interior design.

I feel when you’re rating a store, you have to know its niche… J+O is obviously selling top designer products so you’d expect a high price tag. Anyway…
Been here a couple of times. I personally feel the men’s stuff is sometimes too hipster-​y feeling (well, what did I expect? haha). They know what’s in trend very well. The pricing varies greatly — I see some items are not marked up, while others are marked up around 10%, then I see this item being marked up 30%! I would personally wear anything they sell here due to the hipster factor though. However, it is good to take a look at J+O when they have the end of the year sale, because some products are marked down a great deal and then it makes it sorta worth it to purchase.

I’ve bought a few things from J&O over the years (back since they were the only Toronto retailer that carried Shopbop). It’s definitely a luxury designer store, so while I only stop by a couple times a year for items, I find that my shopping experience is always a positive one.
I think the biggest draw of J&O is the customer service. Earlier this year I picked up the last pair of Acne pistol boots at the store. When I got home I noticed there was something off about the leather on one of the boots. Chelsea was extremely helpful and because they didn’t have any in stock, she had a new pair directly from the manufacturer for me within weeks.
Every time I have been there to try something on, staff are incredibly knowledgable and always make great suggestions or pick out pieces I might have overlooked.
Prices are what you’d expect for their merchandise. Could you get it online for cheaper? Yes, probably. But I find that the overall experience in being able to actually try things on while supporting a local business are more important than saving a few bucks.
The only downside to the store are the hours. Last I checked, they closed at 6pm which might make it hard for people with 9 to 5 jobs to shop in the evening.

This place has some true treasures and some brands I can’t find anywhere else~ I love the shoe wall! The service is excellent, the sales is not pushy but helpful. most of the brands are on the higher end, you have to be really looking for something to come here.
what I don’t really like about this place is the locations, its very far in the west end of queen st with not much other shopping around, so if you want to come here, it would be specifically to shop at J+O and that would be it. it’s not really convenient, and parking is street parking, which can be limited sometimes.
and the working hours are 11 – 6, which is the times where most people have to work on a mon-​fri bases.
another bummer is all sales final, exchange or store credit within 10 days.

I don’t buy – or own – very many articles of clothing. I’m particular to the point of being neurotically specific, so when I find something I like, it’s mine. If I don’t, well, I’m ok with wearing white T-​Shirts. The fact that J+O had not one – but several things I actually liked (and fit my chest: waist ratio – was fairly remarkable. And the service was exactly what you’d expect: helpful without being burdensome, friendly without being fake.

I don’t really want to wear anything in here. Okay, I lied. I like their sweaters mostly, but at $ 300 a pop, I am not comfortable paying for that.
Even so, I think it’s a store for hipsters… it’s the type of clothing that is too simple and minimal for me to justify the price tag of $ 150 for a simple tank top, no matter how comfortable and how nice the brand name is.
I do like that they aren’t pushy and are VERY cool about you just looking at stuff.

Tried to order a top online – their system had technical difficulties so I phoned customer service # to get help. Got the store manager who told me there was nothing she could do help me because the online store is different. Why they would use the same # is beyond reason. Manager would not put the top on hold for me while their online store was trying to sort out problem – can you believe it!!! Talk about bad customer service. After badgering her, she finally agreed to hold the top for 2 hours – even though she knew the problem was on their end and they needed to fix it!!! Nice!!!
But it gets worse,. . they are finally able to process my order. It arrived about 10 days later after paying $ 15 for shipping – yes $ 15 and it still took 10 days! I opened the box and the top was damaged! I took pictures and emailed/​called right away to let them know. NO RESPONSE!!! The person who handled my order said they couldn’t make any decisions about a refund and their store policy was that sale items were NON RETURNABLE. When I stated the product was damaged before they sent it to me, I was simply told, the online store manager would need to make this decision and she was travelling out of country currently so don’t expect to hear anything until the following week. Thankfully I did get an email back from the manager and she said a full refund was no problem because of their admittedly bad quality control. But hen trying to coordinate a pick up to return the top – I had to phone the clerk at their store back several times to basically coordinate it myself!
After waiting 3 weeks and seeing no refund, I phoned again to ask what was happening – talk about poor communication and total lack of customer service. Now I“m told, only the online store manager could process my refund – and once again, she was travelling. Unbelievable!!! What kind of store does this!!! I finally got my refund but I’ll never shop here again nor would I refer the store to any of my friends. Bad experience all around.

J + O has a great selection of both ‘black and sexy’ and ‘long and flowery’ styles mixed in at a variety of price points. The back is reserved for Top Shop items– well-​priced, somewhat decent materials and quality designs.
The front is more expensive, but you can tell a difference in the quality.
I left with one item from the front and one from the back and felt totally satisfied with my purchases.
I wasn’t so excited about the customer service here. The change rooms are essentially airport bathroom stalls running along the right wall. There is only one mirror in which you must exit said stall to see how your unique fashion find is fitting. People walking through the store or deciding what to get were always standing in front of the mirror so that nobody could see anything. When I was out of my dressing room looking in the mirror or showing my friend my clothes, I had to tell the same staff person 3 times that ‘Yes, that’s my dressing room, and Yes, I am still using it.” There was a lineup to try on stuff– but only after I had a few items to try in there.
Also, with some of these complicated straps and cuts, I wasn’t sure how to wear a few of the things. Nobody was there when I came out to help me get it right, or give advice on what sort of pants to wear with this or what bra to wear with that.
Take a friend, find a sale and go nuts!

I love this boutique! I can’t necessarily wear or afford everything on display, but I love to look around and feel the gorgeous fabrics and textures.
Perhaps it’s a consequence of being off the Queen-​strip; Jonathan+Olivia feels like you’re shopping in your friends’ closet. (An exceptionally hip and fashionable friend.) There is a level of personalization that is extremely relaxed. I never feel like I’m being pushed into a purchase, and I really like the laid back attitudes of the staff.

It seems as though I have become rather masochistic lately, seeing as though I’ve been spending an inordinate amount of time in establishments that taunt me with evidence of how the other half lives.
It also seems that I need to get out more, because though I practically live next to Ossington, I had no idea how many expensive and hip stores there were just a little south of my neck of the woods.
This is a very lovely store; very modern and almost sterile looking– which is probably not the right word because it sounds derogatory, but it isn’t. Just minimalist and clean, very white, and very, very bright. A little birdie told me something about the light fixtures being shipped in from Europe when they first opened. All the better to see the clothes with.
I also agree that the staff is really great; for a store in this price range, with this cool factor, the salesgirl was one of the nicest I’ve encountered in a long time. They have all of the usual suspects (listed already by Melissa, so I won’t repeat her), and my favourite: those jeans that were designed for those dudes in modern dance-​rock outfit JUSTICE.
It doesn’t get any cooler than that, friends.
*Oh wait, it does, cuz as my friend was trying on a pair of SALE boots (cool thing #1), «Atrocity Exhibition» by Joy Division provided the soundtrack (coolness to infinity). I thought it was a sign to buy them, still I didn’t say anything.

Jonathan+Olivia is one of the prettiest and newest stores on the Ossington strip. It’s pretty huge inside — they’ve got a lot of space for a lot of clothes worth a LOT of money.
They carry a bunch of standard jean brands — Cheap Monday, ACNE, Earnest Sewn, as well as high-​end clothing brands like Rag & Bone, Helmut Lang, Opening Ceremony, and many, many others.
Along the center of the store, they have a lot of cute shoes and boots, and if you head towards the cash desk, you can check out the gorgeous jewelry they carry. You’ll call them gorgeous if you are anything like me, and the concept of having a gold tooth necklace makes you want to hand over your money immediately. Too bad the prices range from $ 150 to in-​your-​dreams.
They also have lotions and other skin products from (malin+goetz)…basically the best lotion you will ever put on your body. Ever. No lotion will ever compare, and that’s because you have to fork over $ 60 for a purse-​size bottle. I’ve almost convinced myself that it’s worth it.
Staff are surprisingly un-​snobby and willing to help you put together an outfit to impress all the scenesters on a big night out.
This store is beautifully designed and the same can be said for the ahead-​of-​the-​trend clothing they carry, but it’s not the place for you if you’re looking for a deal. Definitely come here if you are rich, and feel free to buy me things as well.
