History

Established in 1970.

It all began as a partnership between John and his co-​worker, Peter Fox, simply known as «Fox and Fluevog», and the opening of their Vancouver store in 1970. Their namesake lasted over ten years at which time the two split amicably, leaving John to open the first John Fluevog Shoes.

By the 1980s, John had started producing his landmark Angel Soles, a legendary sole that «resists alkali, water, acid, fatigue and Satan». In the early 1990s, Angels became the cornerstone of the Seattle Grunge scene, inspiring a new fashion movement consisting of flannel shirts and Angel boots by John Fluevog.

From the start, John has been steadfast in creating ‘unique soles for unique souls’ that have been seen everywhere from the feet of Madonna, the White Stripes, that art student you think is cute, to the runways of high fashion.

Over time, John has built his business into the mega-​powerhouse it is today, all the while becoming a name usually mispronounced, often misspelled, but seldom forgotten.
