Dr. Janice Goodman and Associates is a successful and trusted group of committed individuals. Dr. Goodman was joined by her son, Dr. Kevin Kliman, daughter, Dr. Elysa Kliman and periodontist, Dr. Tina Kokosis over the past 6 years, who bring a wealth of talent and knowledge from prestigious US dental programs. Beloved staff include Naty (25 years + assisting), Sandra (20 years + at the front desk), Leslie (15 years + hygienist), George (5 years + hygienist), Wendy (five years, hygienist).

Business Owner

Janice Goodman graduated from U of T dental school in 1979 and is presently enrolled in a masters of science degree at the University of Southern California in the specialty of oral medicine and oralfacial pain. Her office has a unique family feel because the staff have been with her for 25 years plus and her son Kevin Kliman and daughter Elysa Kliman are actually dentists in the same office. She is on the editorial board of Oral Health Dental Journal and is an inspiration for many members of the dental field and her enthusiasm for what she does is infectious and inspirational. There is a warm, unpretentious feeling to the office which is presently undergoing renovations. The technology in this office is tops and is a leader in keeping up with advances in dentistry. Aside from her accomplishments and honorary awards in General Dentistry, Dr. Goodman has special interests in cosmetic dentistry, Invisilign, clear braces, TMJ and sleep dentistry appliances.

I always have a terrific experience with Dr. Goodman and her staff. She is by far, the best dentist I have been too. Her front desk staff and hygienists are incredibly nice, and it is evident that customer service is extremely important to them. Her recommendations are always appreciated, and she is very passionate about what she does. The office is clean, and the free whitening is appreciated. It is always a pleasure to visit them!

Dr. Goodman is the real deal. I saw her a few months back for an initial consult and let me tell you, I was very impressed. She went above and beyond. It is obvious she is passionate about her work and taking care of her patients. She is also a Sleep Doctor and I was able to do an overnight sleep apnea test which she assessed. The office manager, Sandra is on the ball and wonderful to deal with. Very nice clinic with all the necessary comforts.

I have had the most wonderful time at this family practice. It’s Clean, Bright, and everyone looks so happy.
Dr. Goodman (Mom) did my first check up. For me that personal touch was a big deal. We made a plan for the future of my teeth, mouth health, and Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy. I don’t even know what that is but I’m excited.
Appointment 2 was with Dr. Elysa Kliman, (1st daughter) to start, needles, drills, all the things that remind you of a scary film; That’s the part I hate. Dr. Kliman put me at ease instantly, her energy was perfect for me as a patient. We did one filling, it was quick, cured the sensitivity. Perfect job!
Appointment 3 was also with Dr. Elysa Kliman, longer appointment, 2 cavities, she had the same energy, same confidence, same results, I am blown away, with the team work, and care I received from her. She was just so nice, careful, and concerned.
I now have appointments with the Myofuctional Therapist, (2nd daughter) Geneva Kliman, shes bright, professional, and is helping me with the placement of my Tongue when I speak. It’s muscle memory training and I really think it’s working. It can help correct snoring, acid reflux, speech, and much more.
The quality of the staff and Dr’s @ this office, was second to none. All in all, I would recommend this Family Practice to anyone.

I went there about 2 months ago to check my teeth. The hygenist, named George, took x-​rays from my teeth; he couldn’t place the films correctly in my mouth for my front teeth so he took the x-​rays 3 times! Very clumsy. The dentist, Dr. Elysa Kliman, checked the x-​rays and told me I had a few cavities which need to be filled. I made an appointment and went back to get them done. A few weeks later, my filled teeth started becoming sensitive to heat and cold and got worse by time. I consulted another dentist and she told me I need to fix my fillings as they haven’t been done properly. Overall a very disappointing experience with these people. They are clumsy and don’t know what they’re doing. I wish I hadn’t gone there.

I never thought to review anything but restaurants but now that I see Unilocal is for everything, as I wait for my dental appointment I need to review Dr Goodman’s dental office.
First of all, I have had 3 dentists in my life, but those were both in the burbs of North York and Markham. Now that I live downtown I had to find a dentist that was closer.
Also, being self employed I don’t have insurance anymore and wanted to find a dentist who might offer discounts for those of us without coverage, and that was what brought me to Dr Goodman.
The discount is most appreciated but what brings me back is the great service, always on time (I’m waiting because I arrived early) and friendly staff.
My hygienist, Leslie is friendly, even if she is sometimes a bit chatty — I mean how am I supposed to answer with metal tools in my mouth while she cleans my teeth? She seems to understand my muffled answers, I guess it is a skill that comes with the job! But she is very gentle when doing the cleaning which is what matters to me.
Sandra the receptionist is nice but can get swamped, so be chill and wait your turn when checking out!
Oh! I almost forgot, free tooth whitening with your cleaning!

George is so gentle when cleaning my teeth. And very kind when telling me I need to floss more as there may be an impending cavity!
Dr. Goodman’s daughter, Dr. Kliman also stressed the importance of flossing too! She is just as sweet as her mom when I was a kid being told to floss! Ha!
The office is going to look fresh and new when the renos are done. Great location. Great staff. Great service. That’s why I’ve been going there since I was 10 years old! :o)

A great dental office with amazing staff. New to town and needed care urgently, so I called around and found Dr. Goodman’s office. Got an appointment quickly and was seen promptly on arrival. The staff were gentle and discussed each step to put my mind at ease. Location is also convenient, right next to subway. A+

I can’t recommend Dr. Goodman and her staff enough. They are always gracious when I call or come in for a cleaning. They do a very through cleaning every time and really seem to care about my wellbeing. I really appreciate that they give me a generous discount on my cleanings and also helped out when I needed to replace my retainer as they know I don’t have insurance. I feel like they want to help their patients, rather than just showing up to make money. Thank you so much :).

Not the best dentist I’ve been to.
I had a general cleaning but the hygienist seemed like he was on a time clock. Fifteen minutes to clean, ten minutes to polish and no fluoride treatment. It wasn’t very thorough and when I got home my teeth still felt like there was plaque after the cleaning; I’ve never felt that before at any other dentist.
Dr. Goodman came in to see me afterwards and noticed that my back molar seemed to be creating a crevice where food could get caught. She asked me if I had insurance and when I replied in the affirmative she advised me to make another appointment to see her about my molar. I paid for my visit and made another appointment. When I returned for my next appointment, I sat in the chair and Dr. Goodman arrived, sat down and ground down my molar. The total time for the procedure was about a minute or two. The total cost? $ 280!!! Thank god I had insurance! And you know what the kicker is? I still get food caught in the back molar! After this treatment of what felt like a total money grab, I decided to never step foot in this office again and I haven’t.
Yes Dr. Goodman is very nice, but the total experience was extremely sub-​par and the exorbitant price for the minuscule procedure makes me feel like this is a shady business.

Nothing I can say more important than Janice really wants the best for her patients, whatever their situation. She doesn’t recommend over the top procedures but still clearly is passionate about oral care. The one time something wasn’t communicated clearly (a procedure done that I wasn’t aware was different than the check-​up) they removed the cost with no hesitation when it was clear I hadn’t known. Great dental care and great customer service! Now if only they could come up with an alternative to flossing…

Tried calling this practice in an emergency. Not only could they not fit me in, but they didn’t call back when they said they would and the receptionist was rude about it. She was also extremely uninformed for someone working in a dental office — not even aware that mercury is a toxic heavy metal and saying it was good for your health.
Edited to add (following owner comment): The receptionist promised to phone back, but did not. She did not recommend any alternatives — merely suggested that I ‘try looking on the internet’ and was actively rude about the whole thing. I was willing to come in despite the practice’s use of known poisons, but was clearly shown that this is a place which does not treat people with respect.
(A side note on mercury. Rather than being good for your health, as I was told here, it is one of the most toxic of all heavy metals.)

After a recommendation from a good friend of mine, I decided to get my root canal done at Dr. Goodman’s office. They are very professional and pleasant to deal with. They don’t try to up sale you on anything that you don’t need. I chipped my tooth the root canal was done on through my own fault and Dr. Goodman fixed it for free. They also give a free complimentary teeth whitening service at the end of your visits. Go and check them out, I promise you won’t regret it!!!

I’m so happy I read Meena’s review and decided to come here. I can honestly say that today’s visit was the first time I actually ENJOYED going to the dentist!
Dr. Goodman’s staff members are friendly and efficient. The receptionist got me a cancelation appointment only a day after I called!
Dr. Goodman herself is fabulous and her daughters are terrific (they are also dentists at the clinic). They were all very professional and caring.
I will be bringing my significant other and a few fellow medical students here as patients because I was very pleased with the service I got and as a fellow health professional, I appreciate the fact that Dr. Goodman is well educated and up to date on her dental knowledge.
A+ dentist, definitely recommend! :-)

BEST VISIT TO THE DENTIST EVER!
When I called in, they had an appointment at my preferred time only two days away! Woohoo! Just the beginning of this amazing experience.
All of the staff here are amazing. Everyone smiles and asks you how your day is going. Definitely a place where smiles are made. The fact that they are friendly takes away from the formality of the medical office. But I prefer it this way. I’d rather have my medical personnel be welcoming than uptight.
My hygienist, Stacey, was as gentle as could be. Least painful cleaning experience I have ever had. Plus, she gave me plenty of great tips on how to maintain my teeth.
And Dr. Goodman is the most adorablest woman ever. Even though she is kind of a genius, she is ridiculously humble and kind. She told me repeatedly how awesome my teeth were, which made me feel pretty baller, albeit surprised (seeing as I haven’t been to see a dentist in three years).
Finally, the freebies really made this visit:
They give you a 15 minute free professional teeth whitening at the end of each visit!
Also, Dr Goodman agreed to give me a $ 800 discount on an orthodontic treatment «to make me feel welcome because I was a new patient». How crazy is that?!
The doctor is truly amazing and wonderful. Staff are the nicest ever. And it’s located on Yonge and Sherbourne. Just go already!

Janice is the only dentist I’ve ever been to (except the most recent time I went, when I got her son!) and she’s always been wonderful. Everyone in the office is pleasant and chatty and they’re all really great about remembering my name. And I always come out with teeth so clean that my mouth feels completely different for a week.

I just moved to Toronto from the States and found Dr. Goodman’s office here on Unilocal.This may be the best dental experience I’ve ever had! It is cheaper than some of the other highly rated dentists on Unilocal.As a new patient at another office, you can pay up to $ 350 for a consultation and cleaning. It was less than half that at Dr. Goodman’s office.
The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. I had sensitivity on a lower left molar, and was afraid it was a cavity. They did a thorough investigation and believe I wore down the enamel on one spot so it is sensitive when pressure is applied. They put some sealant on that area and told me to let them know if it was still sensitive. I have never had any of my previous dentists ask so many questions and care so much about my comfort! What a breath of fresh air! They go above and beyond here.

I went here for tooth whitening only so can only speak to my experience (2 visits) with that.
Good availability for appointment booking, friendly and professional staff, comfortable waiting room, clean.
I would most likely go back for all of my dental needs except that there is no parking… well, there is but it’s a pay lot and it’s sometimes full and it isn’t cheap. If I used transit I’d go back for sure as the office is located right at the subway stop and it seems like a good Dentistry practise. But alas, I don’t.

I’ve been going to Dr. Goodman for 20 years. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable and Dr. Goodman is gentle, painless and empathetic to her patients’ needs. Highly recommended.
