Criminal Law

At Rotenberg Shidlowski Jesin, our focus is on criminal defence. Our lawyers are experienced at bail hearings, trials and appeals for every type of Criminal Code offence at all levels of Ontario courts. Our practice includes the defence of domestic assaults, sexual offences, impaired driving, property offences, homicide, white collar crime, fraud, robberies and theft. In addition we also represent clients for all types of federal matters including drug offences, income and excise tax evasion and competition offences.

Provincial /​Quasi-​Criminal Offences

We represent clients accused of offences under the Provincial Offences Act including serious Highway Traffic Act matters, and offences under the Environmental Protection Act.

History

Established in 2006.

Jacob, (or «Jake» as most people call him) brings great energy and enthusiasm to his practice. He earned his law degree at Queen’s University after successfully completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science at York University. Jake realized early in law school that he had a passion for criminal law. He spent much of his time at Queen’s working with community programs such as the Kingston Youth Diversion Program, and the university’s legal clinic, Queen’s Legal Aid. Jake has a special affinity for clients facing domestic assault allegations. He takes pride in helping his clients not just with their legal matters, but with helping them put their lives back together when they are most vulnerable.

Jake believes compassion and patience with his clients are the most important qualities a lawyer can have. He is well known for his willingness to spend his time at any hour of the day comforting his clients and answering questions about their cases.
