Unless you’re looking to buy some italian cashmere sweaters or «luxurious»(read-overpriced) Corgi socks, you’re better off shopping at Gap or Old Navy. Quality at J. Crew is not always impeccable, as I’ve seen tons of sweaters missing rhinestones and buttons. Rhinestones also tend to be a staple on a lot of garments here(hope you like hand-washing!) $ 100 can’t get you very much here, even with the sales. Sales items tend to be either tacky, ugly stuff nobody wanted anyways, or in bad shape because they’ve had the same things marked down for seasons! Also, fit is an issue. Curvy ladies, or even ANY ladies with some meat on their bones, beware. Shopping for pants is an issue here. The jeans are called«toothpick» and«matchstick.» Very telling about who they are geared towards. Shirts tends to be short and boxy, which can make a lot of people look bigger than they are. Yes, I know this is their«thing» but they need to appeal to more than one body type if they want more customers. I’m not surprised that most of the time I pass by, the store is a ghost town. So if you’re not picky about the material of your clothes(IE: regular cotton is alright with you), you’re better off shopping at any of the other stores in Eaton Centre. J. Crew is not worth full price!

I was cutting through the Eaton Centre from parking* to Urban Outfitters with a friend last week and I stopped dead in my tracks. My eyes widened. «We have J Crew now?» «What? That’s way too preppy for you. You like J Crew, Evelyn?» «I don’t like J Crew. I love J Crew. Don’t tell anyone.» Well, now everyone knows. My hipster wardrobe is infused with crew neck sweaters, top-siders and navy blue bikinis. I’m wearing J Crew socks right now. They’re so luxurious. Anyway, unfortunately, like many other American brands when they come to Canada the selection is smaller and the prices are jacked up, even though our dollars have danced around par for many years now. PEPPER shall continue to rock . *Her parking. Still can’t drive. Judge away.

Totally agree with Johnny below, the quality, designs etc are not as spectacular as I had heard. Quality is very mediocre, I feel its the same quality as H&M almost just for a very large price tag. They didn’t have much selection either, just alot of random sweaters in tacky colors. ! Not to mention no help by anybody until i asked 30 minutes being in the store.

In the earlier part of the new millennium, I fell in love with J. Crew at Bellevue Square( ) in Bellevue, Washington. First, their cotton tshirts with their«oarsman» logo were comfy, reasonably priced, and that logo was pretty cool. J. Crew offered clothing that was some place between The Gap and Banana Republic with more of a Gap price tag. J Crew has scuttled its oarsman t-shirt logo. I can’t even find their classic tees anymore. Sigh. The new J. Crew at the Eaton Centre is your basic Banana Republic, with Banana Republic prices, and nothing that really distinguishes it. They got it packed in here and it’s hard to move around. I dunno. Let’s see how the store develops in a year.
