Description

Specialties

Coffee, baked goods, great space to work, AND you get to support our charitable work helping underserved kids get the creative and communication support they need!

History

Established in 2012.

We opened our doors on July 4th 2012. Our café is a social enterprise and supports the free workshops we provide for underserved kids in writing, art and digital storymaking. We started to run workshops in our space behind the café right away and have now served close to 4000 children and many, many customers!

Meet the Manager

Liz H.

Manager

Liz has an extensive background in children’s entertainment as an executive creator, producer, director and Gemini Winner. She has developed a variety of award-winning shows for TVO, CBC, Life, W Network (Corus Entertainment) and Sinking Ship Productions. She left Sinking Ship in 2008 to focus on her passion for helping kids tell their own stories. Inspired by 826, a program in the USA started by acclaimed author Dave Eggers, Liz launched Story Planet, a non-profit storying making centre dedicated to helping young people discover and develop their voices, and Story Planet Café, the social enterprise that supports it.
