The surrounding perimeter of this restaurant is rife with weirdos. With strip clubs, happy cup bar and coffee time in close quarters, there are a lot of freaks nearby; you’ve been warned. I wont discriminate based on that too much, cuz we all know that some of the best Chinese food comes from sketchy restaurants. Unfortunately this is untrue for House of Chan. The food is MEH at best. You know when you try to cook fried rice at home, and it’s missing that«x» factor that makes it taste authentic? THAT is the kinda rice House of Chan sells. There are no vegetables in the fried rice, the general tao is horrifying and my egg rolls are being tossed out my window as I write. The only reason I still give House of Chan four stars is because a pair of no-goodniks came in and the little Asian lady fixed their business. So, these OJs(obvious jerks) walked into the restaurant and started bargaining the menu while taking most of the welcome mints then the lady told them«no service for you! you no good!» I was like, «oh snap!» Then I got my food and the lady gave me extra hot sauce packets. I don’t recommend this place unless you like/don’t mind the company of sketchy people and/or you are a sketchy person. 4 stars!

OOOHWOOW!!! I just had food from this place(the House of Chan), just opened today or yesterday and OHMYGOD!!! THEBESTCHINESEEVEH! It replaced the house of cheung(not to confuse the two please). They are like night and day. I had a deep fried spicy squid($ 9.95) with steamed rice($ 1.50) and one veggie spring roll($ 1.30)(big and hot)…the food smelt really good. The price is reasonable and now they are giving 20% off so even better. I live near by so I was hoping for a great Chinese Restaurant in Bloordale and now we get one!!! yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee The food looked great and was temperature wise very very hot…(not too hot like microwave… you know). The portion was absolutely surprise to me… huge…I will have some for lunch tomorrow. The people are super nice, little slow with English but really nice… the place is clean(this was one of the problem of the last Chinese place in the same location), and I must say the FOODISABSOLUTELYDELICIOUS! BTW, no tofu on their menu but I warn them, this is a trendy area and every body is wanna be a vegetarian so they need to get some tofu in their menus VERYVERYSOON. I am semi veggie(eat fish) so happy here. They said they are working on it. At the moment only cash. Too bad I am leaving the hood very soon but I will be ordering delivery… since I wont be too far. I love it here! good luck House of Chan!!! Barney’s Girl
