this place, situated on the east side of queen street, is located only just to the east of the beating heart of leslieville both in location and spirit. its quite a large space that is filled with dressed up necessities for the home with a bunch of altogether wouldnt-it-be-nice-if-we-had-them items too. though it is varied in its stock, i feel like if i had to say what overall colour this store is inside, i would say an iridescent brownish green. im sure there are many colours present; this is the feeling i get and its not from not seeing any iridescent brownish green. it feels only just to the east of the leslieville spirit because it seems mildly conservative, and by virtue of that observation, barely provoking. its the type of thing where i wouldnt normally come in here — nothing at quick glance attracts me inside. after having gone in anyway, you can see that there are many items to decorate your home, your table, your garden and from the few items i manhandled i felt like things were being offered at a reasonable price. there are a whole wall of simple candles of varying incarnations of red, functional items for the kitchen, for the bathroom and so on. this was my feeling, and then i visited the website and confirmed that indeed this place is pretty status quo, pretty conservative, pretty corporate feeling. like if you went to the house of every person who bought all their stuff from hogar, you wouldnt be allowed to use the towels to dry your hands, and there would be no need to dry your hands, because you couldnt have been encouraged to soap them with the little soap pellets shaped like sea shells. all that being said, if i really need some replacement towels, or cloth napkins or something a little less plain than white candles, id come here because its affordable and close by.
