Harry Rosen

Best Harry Rosen in the city. No crowds, and excellent service on the floor. Went here at 8:30am on Boxing Day to catch the suit special. I was one of 25 people in the store. Nowhere near the eaton centre or yorkdale crowds.
I got excellent service by a floor manager named Luis, who showed me around all of the suits currently on special. I’m a pretty price sensitive customer, and Luis understood fully, and allowed me to pick suits of my choosing. He provided me with all of the gear to try on the suit properly, and made sure I was satisfied with my choices. ⁵⁄₅ service.
I ended up buying 2 Z Zegna suits at 65% off which was a steal. I was never pressured to buy anything further. Alterations came free with the suit even though it was heavily discounted. (This wouldn’t have been the case at a Hugo Boss store for example)
Harry Rosen blows the doors off any department store in terms of selection, and especially service. Best suit buying experience I’ve ever had. With the sale, they were priced just as competitively, if not more competitively than anywhere else. I will be buying all of my suits from this Harry Rosen in the future. Hopefully from Luis.

My husband loves the sort of items that are predominantly sold at Harry Rosen and a few other similar sort of retailers in Toronto, so, when looking for a present for him or shopping in general, I tend to stop in.
First off, I like the merchandise. From the designer suits, shoes, accessories, it is great to have a one-​stop-​shop to go to… however, its the sales experience that I find particularly frustrating.
There are always a large number of sales associates stationed midway into the store like they are guarding a battlefront. The moment you go in and show any interest in any item, they are right onto you and despite assuring that you are looking and will enlist their help if needed, they stand a meter away or follow you throughout the store. I get it — they want to provide great customer service (and likely receive the commission), but who wants to be trailed throughout the store? The look on the sales associates is that of a look of intent desperation that is so off-​putting to me. I have spent thousands (not too difficult here) in this store and I really sometimes dread going in to browse as I so dislike the experience.
Check out Loding, not to far away. Not the same extended selection but a great shopping experience and nice variety.

I can’t say 100%, but I think they have a policy of leaving very little extra material in trousers for future alterations.
When I bought them, the saleswoman told me that the pants come with unlimited future alterations. However, when I look at them now, it looks like there is less than ½ inch of material. Basically, they are trying to set you up so that if you gain 5 pounds, you will need to buy a new suit.

Last week I had the pleasure of a great purchasing experience at Harry Rosen. Anthony Grosso (General Sales Manager) and I picked out a shirt, ties, and a pocket square that really «Pops». Anthony was extremely nice and patient, there was not a bit of pressure, in fact I enjoyed the experience so much I was looking for additional pieces to enhance my wardrobe. If ever in Toronto and in need of the very best in men’s clothing, go see Anthony.

I echo what Karl said. It is Harry Rosen and located in a building in the Financial District, so although the sales are up to and including 50%, you’re still paying a hefty price. But the quality is there and most staff are very helpful.

I just wrote a scathing review of Ede & Ravenscroft in the UK, which reminded me about my all time favorite place to shop. Harry Rosen at FCP with one salesperson in particular, Stewart Downer. He guided my transition from frumpy hobo student to professional lawyer, and more importantly, someone who can spot nice clothes on my own. Now that I no longer live in Toronto, I make it a point to visit FCP when I’m in town for a visit, and I almost invariably purchase something, nowadays its more on the casual side (I have enough suits now). My purchasing history in their internal system suggests I could have bought a small car instead, but I wouldn’t take one of my purchases I made with him back, which have ranged from suits and shirts (both off the rack and custom), jackets, pocket squares, socks, polos, ties, sweaters, dress and casual pants.
The first time I met Stewart, I had a tie that I didn’t even buy from Harrys, whose fibres were starting to fray. I wasn’t even looking to buy anything. I asked him for his advise, and then he took a lighter to it — after a brief moment of panic, I noticed that the close proximity of the flame moved the fibres back into the tie. Amazing, and I’ve had faith in him ever since.

This is the location in First Canadian Place. It’s open Saturdays, bringing a bit of life to the underground. They have a number of shirt and tie sales. Most of the ties are of the «dad’s birthday» variety. Some of the shirts are quite nice. Despite the 50% off deal on many of the shirts, you’re still looking at $ 150 for some of the sale shirts.
This store is two floors. It’s fun to wander. Service is always friendly and attentive.
