Horrible experience at this place — I would give them 0 stars if I could.
My husband and I made an appointment to file together. We went in and both were told we owed (not ideal but it is what it is). We both had simple files but they quoted my charge to file as $ 100 and my husband’s as $ 200. Why? Because he had a disability tax credit and they had to check an extra box. We politely declined filing with them.
My husband chose to file online but since when I calculated my online return it said I owed much more than H & R Block, I went back to this location. (My mistake but was trying to save).
We were about to hit send when I realized the «tax professional» made a mistake on my return — turns out I owed double what they initially said! And they were trying to convince me their mistake wasn’t one — it was in black and white on my T4! They then wouldn’t take my discount coupon I had even though it was on their website. They accused me of lying about the expiry date of the coupon (it was written on the bottom). They finally told me to come back the next day to speak to the office manager, who they called but didn’t explain anything to. I explained I worked during the day but they kept repeating to come back.
After the mistake, the complete lack of customer service AND the attitude I was done. They hadn’t filed so I was out.
I told them I am not doing business with them and opted to file online. Who knows what other mistake they made! And the customer service was HORRIBLE!
Never again.

I’ve entrusted this branch of H&R block with my taxes for the past 2 years and I have been impressed both times. I have found their customer service to be friendly and prompt. They have made filing income tax easy and stress-​free. I would definitely recommend them for simple returns.

As an American living in Canada and needing to file returns for both countries, I was quickly drawn to H&R Block’s strong multinational brand and its boasting advertisements of expertise in exactly what needed, not to mention keeping the future in mind and the potential ease of continuing to use the same service provider for years to come. However, I was swiftly and significantly disappointed with my experience.
I initially called the office around the corner from me at 2376 Yonge Street in Toronto and left a detailed message (as instructed) with my name and number (twice) and needs. I never received a call back.
Weeks later, I visited the office and simply walked in and left my name on the sign-​in sheet. No additional information was requested at that time. 60 minutes passed and I asked the receptionist if they schedule appointments instead. She said yes, but there was no point because the wait is just as long, as it all depends on who your Tax Professional is. I understand it’s tax season and demand is high, but it seems such an established business would be capable of scheduling in a more efficient way.
I decided to continue to wait that evening until it was my turn. After an additional 30 minutes, I asked if there was a washroom available but was informed there was not one for public use, as the sign hanging from the desk explained. I also understand it’s an urban environment with passerby’s, but I had been waiting for an hour at that point. I didn’t think a washroom was too much to ask.
I waited for another 30 minutes before a Tax Professional invited me back to their desk to get started. They explained they would take an initial look at my slips and provide an estimated cost before proceeding. Within seconds of sitting down I clarified that I needed Canadian and American returns and without hesitation, the Tax Professional said, «Why didn’t you say something earlier?!» and then informed me that that particular office can’t file American taxes and I would have to go to a different location. There is a giant poster on the window literally right next to the chair I sat in for 2 hours quietly holding my bladder, advertising how easy it is to file US taxes.
Again, it seems such established professionals that boldly advertise specific services on their windows might consider a simple screening question (or even questionnaire) at the time of sign-​in, rather than 2 hours later. I’m amazed how many times H&R Block missed the mark and fell short. First impressions are everything. — at H&R Block.

THE WORST customer service I have ever experienced. They screwed up my tax return so badly that I had to go back in three times begging them to file the correct information. They never did.
I had to payback more than $ 2000 the next year and wasn’t even partially compensated for it.
