Get Gelled Manicure Bar

I just love this boutique. It’s so feminine and girly and the staff are very sweet and nice. The owner, Sun always makes sure that she is attentive to what I would like. The way they do manicures is different than any other place I’ve been and I have to say I much prefer it. The technicians pay close attention to detail and my nails and cuticles always look perfect after I leave and they last a long time (although I’m tempted to want to return sooner for another nail design :-P)
They are very gentle with my hands and feet and everything is done perfectly and the designs are so amazing! I also find that with other nail places I can’t get regular gel manicures as my nails seem to thin and soften after removal of the gel. I find at Get Gelled that is not the case. My nails are still healthy, strong and long :)
It’s more expensive than other places yes, but for the quality of product, service, design, detail and atmosphere, I will pay it!

I’ve been going to Get Gelled for about a year or so — I am more than happy with my nails! Since September 2015 my nails have grown into the most beautiful set I have ever had in my life and it is all thanks to Sun and her team of talented manicurists.
Yes, they are expensive but is it expensive if you manicure literally lasts an entire month with little to no chipping? Usually I go after about 3 weeks because of the growth but other than that my last 3 manicures have not chipped until the 3 week mark, if they chipped at all.
They have the most beautiful designs. If you have longer nails I suggest gradation as the style really showcases nail length. I am always excited for my next manicure and am an extremely satisfied client. I am extremely picky about my nails and have been happy time and time again.

My friend and I just left from our first visit at get gelled and immediately looked at each other and said — we will be back!
I was lucky enough to get sun for my gell manicure and she is phenomenal, all of the ladies that worked on us were great, fast, efficient, clean and professional. Our manicures and pedicures look amazing and all the staff were very helpful. It sure seems like the ladies have listened to any feedback on their service. I highly recommend get gelled.

This review is based on 2 years of appointments. Sorry if it is tl;dr but if you are really considering going for the first time, my experiences might be helpful.
Major Points:
— gel nails peel off if applied too thin/​you have more oils around the cuticle
— regular polish came off like it was a sticker
— long wait times even with advance appointment
— nails done in a rush, not as I asked, not sealed off, had to file them off my skin when I got home, 2 lifted from nail edge within 3 days while on a trip– owner offered 10% discount or free upgrade to gradation ($ 10 off) since I couldn’t go back right away
— they only fix issues if something happens within 72 hours
— for the price, the quality and customer service is just not up to par, despite the nail design talent
The first few times I went, the nails started peeling after about 5 days. Because they peeled from my cuticle area, I assumed it was the oils on my nails, and the owner suggested the same at my next appointment. The thing I should have better considered is that shellac from other nail salons stays on my nails longer than the gel did. I returned a number of times. My sister came with me twice and her nails stayed on for over a month with no issues. When Sun did my nails, she added an extra thick layer on top, and this actually made them last 3 weeks. I was really happy with that.
However, this past summer, I ended up getting a regular pedi before standing in my friend’s wedding (2 days before the wedding) and the morning of, I woke up to the nail polish having come off of a nail while I was sleeping. Literally, the entire nail of it just fell right off. I had to run to a drug store before making an hour drive at 7am to get to the hair appointment. I was really not impressed but was in another city and obviously couldn’t wait to have them fix it. The day after the wedding, 2 more nails did the same thing– just lifted right off!
I also got a gel mani with my mom the day before the wedding, and even though I specifically booked for 2 of us well in advance, we ended up waiting for over 30 minutes, which was a big inconvenience because my dad was stuck at my condo alone. Then, they started my nails and left my mom sitting on the waiting bench so I couldn’t even talk to her because they were full. The reason was apparently because I was getting design which takes much longer. About an hour into my 2.5 hour mani, they started doing my mom’s nails. I realize they were trying to match up the timing, but I booked to get them done together so I was really disappointed that they essentially overbooked after I made my appt about a month ahead of time.
As others have noted, their designs are absolutely incredible and they are very talented artists. However, I’m not sure I want to go back anymore after my latest experience.
I got a gel colour before going on a trip about 2 weeks ago. I wanted it with clear half moons and the girl acknowledged that, but then applied full colour to the first nail. I decided to let her keep going rather than make her start over. The colour was applied really sloppily and with the layer of clear gel on top, it was not distributed evenly at all so my nails ended up wavy. She got quite a bit of clear gel on my skin around the nail to the point where she ended up filing it off the sides after my manicure was cured. I also had to file the sides more when I got home. Of course, this caused a couple of chips on the side of the gel after just a day or two. But the biggest issue was that she didn’t seal the nails at the edge. 2 of them lifted while I was on vacation and kept getting caught on my clothes. I tried to keep them on to have them fixed when I returned, but since they kept getting caught, they lifted off once I got back. Then another started, and another until I soaked them off myself. I did contact the owner and she said they would have fixed anything that happened «within 72 hours» but since I was away, she offered either 10% off or a free upgrade to gradation for my next service. She did apologize and I did appreciate her offers, except a 72 hour policy when the manicure price STARTS at $ 50 is insane. When I’m paying that much, and you say it will last 14 days, I expect that to last 14 days! Not 2. That’s just ridiculous. Unless I soak my hands in water for 48 straight hours, those gel nails should NOT come off.
I would really rather pay less knowing I will at least get a week out of it. I am really not enchanted after trying this place for 2 years. Probably going to find a new salon :(

Came here for my first ever manicure just over a month ago.
Didn’t get spoken to at all during the appointment (she just spoke to her colleagues in her language. So I couldn’t even join in with those conversations). Didn’t get offered any beverages. After saying it was my first one I was given no direction, for example I wasn’t told how long to keep my hands in the dryer as its not a timed one — I was just left to it and it just seemed to do short bursts.
The nails were prepared well and nicely. They have a huge range of colours and designs. The polish however wasn’t so good on two nails.
I didn’t have much to go on at the time, but as I’ve just had a manicure elsewhere that was miles better both in quality and customer service it really showed me the difference.
So it was fine. But that’s it.

Yay! I was so happy to FINALLY Get Gelled!
I have been meaning to come here for some time, but unfortunately a string of gel manicures made my nails a little to weak to justify. so I waited…
It’s been two weeks since my manicure and everything is still looking great! On day 11 I had the tiniest of chips, but nothing since.
I really love the manicure bar, it’s a step up from my normal $ 35 mani/​pedi joint and is designed beautifully, like a spa. There are tons of spots for manicures and pedicures. The service was great, and though the manicure wasn’t super thorough it’s really not what the place is about — it’s about the nail art!
My manicure cost about $ 75 which was totally worth it. It’s expensive, yes, but it’s unique and all the gems were individually placed.
I already can’t wait to come back and I have my next nail art design idea already brewing.
Also: I feel like this would be the perfect spot for a bachelorette group or other parties!

I found this place online and most of the reviews were positive, so I thought I’d give them a try. I had decided to try some gel nails b/​c I’m getting married this summer and I wanted to take some time to find the right place to do my nails for the big day. I was initially impressed with the service. They let me park behind the store in their private spot b/​c I couldn’t find parking, which was nice. They offered beverages, and the studio is cute. I had no idea what I wanted, and they ended up recommending a pink gradation gel finish, which looked nice. I noticed the intricate work they were doing on ladies around me and I was blown away by the artistry.
My simple gradation gel finish and the gel nails came to $ 146 including tax and tip, which shocked me a little, but I paid it and left happy with my nails…
…until 5 days later when one nail fell off. I called them to book an appointment to fix it. The soonest I could get in b/​c of my own schedule was the following week. I didn’t ask whether they would charge me for the repair; I assumed they would. Then on day 6 and 7 two more nails fell off. I called them, at this point pretty upset. I was told that they would repair one nail for free but their policy is that anything beyond 5 days is not their responsibility. They only guarantee that their $ 146 gel nails will last for FIVE DAYS??? I couldn’t believe it. I had gone into another salon and asked whether the nails had fallen off b/​c my nails were too soft or for some reason that was my fault and was told that the issue was with the way they were applied. «They did a bad job» is what I was advised. No word of a lie, I lost a nail a day for 6 days. I have since had the whole set replaced elsewhere for a lot less money. I wish I hadn’t thrown that $ 146 into the garbage. What a huge waste.
Very disappointed. It would have been really nice if they would have taken responsibility for their mistake.

Great atmosphere. Very clean and quiet. Like something right out of pinterest.

Definitely skilled workers and wonderful design from Japan and Korea. Just pricy but worth it!

Literally the most amazing manicure I’ve ever had in my life… The staff was kind enough to let me come in only a few hours after booking. I had a picture from Instagram that I wanted them to match onto my nails and it was 100 times more amazing then I would have ever expected! I can honestly say it’s worth the money… Your nails will look their best here!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I came here a couple weeks ago, and booked a shellac manicure & regular pedicure, and a regular pedicure for the person that came with me. It took FOREVER. I was falling asleep in the chair because I was so bored, as the nail technician was super awkward, unfriendly and not engaging in the slightest. Whatever, not that big of a deal as I was anticipating a great end result. Unfortunately, right after I left the salon I noticed that my nail polish had been smudged on one foot. As we had already left the area, I just left it as I figured it wasn’t worth it to trek all the way back to the salon just for one nail.
However, a few days later, I noticed that my shellac was starting to chip a little bit, and then quickly after that all of my nails started to chip. Normally, my shellac lasts me AT LEAST 2 weeks. I figured this was because of the different type of shellac polish they were using (I usually use CND). Anyways, as I mentioned I don’t live in the area, so I went back to my regular nail salon to get my shellac changed as I hate having chipped nails. At this point though I was pretty ticked as we had paid so much for the services, but less than a week later neither my toe nails or my shellac looked good, and I had to go pay to go have my nails changed. So, after mulling it over, I decided to go ahead and call to complain and see if I could at least have my toe nail polish fixed.
When I called, the employee said to me «Oh I can’t help you. E-​mail the owner instead.» Not one apology, didn’t offer to fix it, nothing. So I went ahead and e-​mailed. No response. So I had to call the salon AGAIN the following day. To which the owner answered, and had mentioned she heard I had called. My first thought was well, why didn’t you call me back then if you knew I had called!!! I proceeded to explain the situation (for the third time). And, yet again, NO APOLOGY. Instead, she got all defensive and said that «shellac isn’t guaranteed to to last more than a week.» And then proceeded to go on and on about how people who are rough with their hands generally don’t have their shellac last long. I’m not rough with my hands. At all. My shellac always lasts over two weeks. Come on, it should at least last more than a week?! I may as well have gotten regular polish! She literally was trying to justify her overpriced services and that this was perfectly acceptable. And when I said my polish on my toenail was smudged and I just wanted my ONE nail fixed, she again tried to say that it was my fault that I hadn’t called earlier and that she couldn’t do anything for me. SHE COULDN’T FIX ONE SINGLE NAIL. And then said that she «doesn’t train her staff to rush clients out» (which is quite obvious as it took over two hours) but my nails still weren’t properly dried. She didn’t apologize once, and just got all defensive and was saying that everything was all my fault.
HORRIBLE experience. My nails looked good for about 2 days. I honestly have no idea how this place made the top 10 list on blogTO for best manicures, because this place sucks and the attitude & customer service skills are SERIOUSLY lacking. Because of the owners inability to apologize and properly handle a customer complaint, I will never be back and I will make sure I tell every single person I know not to go to this nail salon. It’s overpriced for the services you get, and the owner simply does not know how to run a business and how to treat her clients. Had she resolved the situation properly and maybe even offered nothing but an apology, I would have given the salon another chance. WILL NEVER BE BACK!!!

Great nail salon! Been here 4 – 5 times. This is definitely a more upscale nail salon as price is on the higher side. However you get what you pay for. Love the chic décor inside. The place is very clean, not your normal looking full of acetone smell nail salon. They’re famous for their gel manicure and design. Staff is very talented. They can do any design you want when you show them a picture. Would come here more often if my budget allows.
Their gel manicure is $ 50 and with tax+tips comes out to $ 60. With designs (not too elaborate design) on average $ 80-​$ 90.
They do very good job with cuticle work (the best in my opinion) and nail shaping.
They have reward system whereas you earn 1 point for every dollar you spend. 100 points get you $ 5 off for next service.

One of the best nail salons in the GTA. They have the most beautiful nail designs and the staff are all so talented at what they do. Sun, the owner, is very sweet and truly cares about her customers. The other staff working here are friendly as well. The only downside is the service is expensive, but you’re paying for what you get. I recommend calling to book an appointment.

Went few times for mani and eyebrow waxing. The quality of nail art were good, but a bit pricy. The eyebrow waxing is really good and my eyebrows have their nice shape now. BUT, my appt got cancelled twice without a good reason. The 1^st time is because they were running really late (I was there early that time, but I think they took walk-​ins and they cannot finish) and after waiting for 30 mins, they told me they cannot do my nails, so I end up only doing my eyebrow. That’s the day before my trip, I really want my nails done so I booked appt. But I guess I don’t have the luck. The 2^nd time I know they might be busy so I only booked for eyebrow waxing one week early just want to get ready for Xmas. Then they called me one day before my appt said because they were tightly booked so they have to cancel my appt. I understand that only eyebrow waxing is not much money, but I booked in advance and it only takes about 10 mins. So you guys have to cancel a pre-​booked 10 mins appt during Xmas just want to fit more nails appt? How many nails can you do in 10 mins? I don’t get it. And it doesn’t seems you feel sorry to cancel my appt when you guys calling me. Won’t go back. If I book appt and have to cancel it, why I need to book then. Now I found a nice nail bar can do as good nails as this one with lower price and close to my home plus their service is really good.

These guys are horrible. Made an appointment for five girls, paid a deposit, but when we were about to head out we called the store to let them know we were coming, and it turns out she double booked us, even though we paid the deposit.
They did refund, but this is, for the lack of a better word, unprofessional.

Get Gelled is the place to go for a luxurious mani. The service is fantastic. The environment is soothing; the manicures are perfection. With so many styles, colours and designs to choose from you will leave feeling relaxed, trendy and excited to show off your new nails!
Go with a friend or go alone but call to make a reservation because they are always busy!

My friend and I had such a great experience at get gelled! We both got gel manicures. There were lots of gel colors to choose from, it’s an extremely cute little salon, and the staff was very friendly.
I was offered a rewards card and will definitely be returning! :)

Got my nails done here last year for the first time after seeing some good reviews on Unilocal and pictures on their IG account #getgelled.
Anyway, the service was mediocre at best since the girl I was with didn’t speak much English so initially it wasn’t off the best start… The owner had her own appt with a more chattier lady who appeared to have been a regular which seemed to calm my nerves as I’m a perfectionist when it comes to quality of my nails. I decided to go with a french gel with acrylic accents which turned out lovely, however the price for it was damaging to my ears as I paid over $ 130 — Yeah you’re crying too. I was hoping by the end of the week the nails would have held its own but to my dismay, my ring finger cracked and kept lifting off quite easily along the sides which was noticeable when you wash your hands.
Needless to say I for sure will not be coming back here and I’m happy most people got a great experience out of this place but for the price and professional quality, I’d rather stick to Pacific Mall where theirs was more than half the price off and theirs lasted me a whole month with no problems! Just thought I would stretch my olive branch to this place and give it another good rating but it was as aforementioned, mediocre at best.
