Froz’n Motion Photography

We purchased a Groupon for a photo shoot from Froz’n Motion way back in September. When I called to book our session, they were booked months out… which I guess is good? I finally got a date in March, booked my hair and make up appointment, and bugged my husband to make sure he planned to close his business early that day so we could make the appointment downtown. The night before Henna emailed me saying some equipment broke from a child session they were shooting and we needed to reschedule… ok. Things happen, but I also get stuck paying my cancellations for hair and make-​up, and my husband was super happy. (not)
Now it gets better… so when Henna and I get on the phone to reschedule… again all her Saturdays are booked out for months… past our Groupon expiration. Luckily she offers to extend the expiration and book us in May! She even says, it will be nice out by then and we can do it outside. Even better!
The week of the photoshoot, she calls me to confirm which was great and sends me an email 3 days prior to the shoot with details on phone numbers, addresses, etc. Saturday morning, after my hair and make up session, I am checking the address to where we are going and see a bullet point about us being told to bring $ 45 (plus $ 15 HST) for an outdoor fee. I told my husband, this must be a mistake… we are a Groupon customer, we already paid. We were not told about any additional fees. So I called Henna…
Wow, what a new business owner we saw. She let me know that this was my fault. I should have read the email when I received it. It is not her fault that I didn’t read everything. «Did I go back and read the voucher from September» she asked? «It says on there that outdoor is additional…» I asked her, but you offered my outdoor when you rescheduled us, you said «it will be nice out then.» You never asked me or told me that it would be an additional fee. Again, my fault. Why didn’t I read the email she sent me 3 days in advance?
She absolutely refused to budge on her price, didn’t care at all how upset we were, and we asked for a refund, which she also said no to. She said we can reschedule again for an indoor shoot if we do not want to pay extra…
I am still dumbfounded that this happened and will not ever be doing business with this company. I paid them $ 60 and received nothing but cancellations and hidden fees and horrible, ignorant customer service.
Please be cautious with this one.

We just want to thank Cam and Henna for all the work, time, and sincerity you put into our photographs. The pictures turnded out great… and we love them!

I really enjoyed my experience with Henna and Cameron!
They are very professional at what they do. I had to reschedule once and I had many questions leading up to the shoot, and Henna answered all of them very quickly.
The shoot was great. At first, I felt nervous as a boudoir photo shoot isn’t something I do every day… Cameron’s helpful tips and encouragement helped me and I felt very comfortable after just a few frames.
I just got my pictures back last week and went through them. They turned out amazing and I highly recommend them. Thank you, Henna and Cameron.

I had a peculiar and irritating Groupon experience with Froz’n Motion ($ 60 for 200 photos). I wanted a set of professional head-​shots that I could use for LinkedIn profiles and project proposals etc.
Scheduling the session was tricky, and when the date finally came ’round, I was kept waiting for 20 minutes in the under-​construction lobby of the rental apartment building in which they live and work. The session before me was some pregnancy shoot and it was running substantially late. I was seconds away from cancelling in anger when I was convinced to come up for my session — which I did, but in a bad mood. Cameron must have sensed this, because he had me pose for a number of shots with a ‘screaming’ face: trying to diffuse my anger? Subtly teasing me? He also had me pose for photographs with Steve Jobs biography, because of my visual similarity to Jobs’ look — but when I finally got to see the photos, my on-​set hesitancy was justified since they’re not very flattering (they make me look either like a pretentious poser or an unoriginal follower and I like to think, god help me, that I’m neither). As I imagine is typical with photography sessions, many shots were taken with only extremely minor variations in pose, angles, or expressions.
At any rate, on the way out the door I asked about next steps and was told «All the pictures are mine», and that I could choose to have 3 printed as part of the Groupon and the rest on a DVD. Fine.
Then the two of them went to India for some project for 7 weeks. My photos had no pressing urgency, but still, a very long wait.
Then I was told of the additional costs. If I wanted to forgo the prints and have ALL the photos that Cameron took, 362 of them i.e. 162 photos over the allotted 200 in my Groupon, that would cost $ 99. .. and if I wanted the additional 162 photos plus my 3 printouts, that would cost $ 199. Wait — what?
Well, I knew I wanted to see some of the shots taken towards the end of my session, but I was equally sure that at least half of the first 200 shots would be not useful, being minor millimetre variations of the previous shot. .. but after several emails back and forth trying to reach some agreement on this, in the end I gave up and paid the $ 99 plus tax — extremely grudgingly. Henna explained that the $ 99 is charged for the photos, and not for the 55 seconds of time required to drop my digital folder of images onto a DVD burner software, but the idea still grates. It’s not my idea of the meaning of «all the pictures are mine». I would have much preferred if I had been told, at the 200 photo mark, that any subsequent photos would carry a surcharge, so I knew this was going to happen while it was happening. Perhaps I lack the requisite respect for unprinted digital files. It’s particularly jarring since my session was supposed to be an hour and, after starting 20 minutes late, we did all my photos in 45 minutes. .. so it’s not like I was paying for any of their overtime.
When I got the photos home this week, finally, 2 months after the shoot, they were OK — I ended up with about 5 usable shots out of the 362, and 2 shots I can use for my intended LinkedIn profile/​professional purposes. My wife was pretty unimpressed, to be honest, and I felt vaguely embarrassed showing her some of the more peculiar ones (like a set where I’d been asked to pull down on the neck of my t-​shirt).
Henna and Cameron seem like lovely people — and they have lots of good reviews here — but if you’re going to take the Groupon option with them, be aware of the strict guardrails around it. I can imagine Cameron being terrific with boudoir and wedding photography, but perhaps for professional headshots, it’s worth doing further research.

We will forever be grateful to Cameron and Henna for making our wedding in Toronto so memorable and extraordinary. Especially, we want to thank Cameron for his professionalism and creativity, for not only helping us to overcome our camera shyness, but for also pulling us into an unforgettable adventure — an outdoor photo shoot during one of the coldest days of the last decade. We treasure the memories that they gave us and the beautiful pictures documenting them.

I had an outdoor shooting and Cameron is very punctual every time we meet (photoshooting and photo pick up). He is friendly, gentlemen and very responsive to emails/​messages. His edits are good.

Cameron is very friendly and a great photographer. Despite us getting a very discounted price through DealFind, he was nothing but professional. We did an on location photo-​shoot that was outside of his studio and at my parents home and everything went smooth despite him not having all the gear he would have at the studio. Cameron and his assistant Henna have fantastic and frequent communication, and they showed up exactly at the scheduled time.
Additionally, he helped put out a fire that randomly started in the kitchen during the shoot. As good as it gets!
