History
Established in 2007.
Established in 2007, Evymama Nursing & Maternity was founded by Sarah LeMay-Kaplan, a mother of two who opened the doors of her original Toronto store in 2007 with her then 5-month-old son Remy in a sling on her hip (and in her hair!) At that time, she would staff the shop by herself or with one other person at hand to help. Today she has 8 staff members and a store manager, and two Toronto store locations.
The mother-centric shop has always focussed on providing excellent service and selection, never straying from its breastfeeding, maternity, and postpartum specialty.
Meet the Business Owner
Sarah K.
Business Owner
Sarah Kaplan (née LeMay) holds a BAH (History and French) from Queens’ University and a Master’s degree in French Studies, also completed at Queen’s University.
As soon as she turned 14, she took a job at a food service shop. She immediately found her calling in customer service and retail sales, and continued to work in this field through high school and university. Perhaps her most life-changing retail job was working at Tristan America, where she first realized that she was made for retail fashion.
Sarah has always thrown herself completely into a project or plan, and motherhood was no exception. She embraced breastfeeding and Attachment Parenting when her first child was born as the epitome of «full-on mothering» as it was meant to be. She found that she was a natural at motherhood.
Her retail gene could not be suppressed for long, however, and while pregnant with her second child, she began to create the Evymama concept. The rest is Evymama History.
