Energy Crew Moving & Transportation

**DO NOT USE ENERGY CREW MOVING COMPANY!**
Just had the most disastrous encounter working with this moving company over the last two days. Energy Crew looked like the all-​around company to choose from, as stated on BlogTO on their Top 10 moving companies in Toronto. Their website and voice mail also boast about trusting their service. When really you should not be trusting this company with your valuable and prized possessions. I spoke with one representative for Energy Crew just twice and that was all on sheer luck. Because they do not answer their phones/​emails/​voice messages on the days of your scheduled move. Of course why would I want to talk to the moving company on the day of my move? (I know it’s outlandish).
First of all, the scheduled move was supposed to happen from 5 – 8 pm on the first of September. My boyfriend gets a call around 3 pm from the so-​called nameless-​mover, nameless mover says he’s on a big move and won’t be there until 7 pm. That’s ok w us. But we ask if it’s possible that they will still make it this evening as we have to be out of this condo on the second. They say of course. Lie number one!
Secondly, 7 pm rolls around and no call from the mover, so I take the reigns and call the energy crew nameless mover as he’s no longer answering my boyfriend’s calls. The nameless mover picks up and says he’s on a job and will be there around 9 pm. But it won’t be him that will be moving and it will be two other guys (this just screams SKETCHY to me)! Than tells me he shouldn’t be taking calls because of the new law. Yes, I’ve heard of the law and have you, nameless mover, heard of a Bluetooth? They’re occasionally found on all those individuals that also drive all freaking day long. Hard eye roll!
Thirdly, the movers never did come the day or night that they were scheduled to come. They called at 9:30 pm to say that they would be there the next day at 9:30 am. And it gets better, because this is when the new tenants would also be moving into the condo as well.
So a day and half later with this energy crew (who clearly gets their energy from smoking weed while working) all items have been moved from point A to point B with a simple sorry from the nameless moving crew. And a whopping $ 555 bill to be paid in you guessed it cash! They wanted the money upfront the morning of too. When I was told on the phone when requesting my move date with the company that you pay afterwards. What did you think we would stiff the bill? No why would we? We’re stand-​up individuals that believed your company could do the job that it promised it would.
Energy Crew should be ashamed of the people that they hire that clearly do not care about customer service and professionalism at all. As well, they should keep their word on their schedules. And if they’re having a busy day than a courteous phone call from someone from the company, who could preferably speak coherently in English would have been nice. The company doesn’t even use their own logo on their trucks, they rented this one. So really I would like to know and be reimbursed something for your rude and disgraceful representation that came on behalf of your company today. End rant!

Energy Crew gets one star for having a really helpful contact person (Treigh). At every point in the process of booking our move, Treigh always responded immediately, and was quite reassuring concerning the special needs that we had (our new home is a strange victorian building, and has narrow stairwells with many corners. We knew we were going to need movers that could pulley/​hoist some of our larger pieces of furniture up over the exterior balcony railing onto our second floor). I felt quite confident, based on his accommodating demeanor, that our move would go off flawlessly.
Then the actual day came. The movers that arrived hardly represented what I came to expect from Energy Crew in my dealings with Treigh. It was like they were from a completely different moving company.
— They arrived 45 minutes late.
— Before lifting a finger, they told me that their work order did not reflect that I was moving out of a two-​storey apartment, and that I would have to pay them each an extra sum of money, in cash, if I expected them to retrieve boxes from the 2^nd floor. I asked to see the work order, as I know I mentioned this detail to Treigh, and they refused to show it to me. Only when I telephoned Treigh on my cell phone while standing right in front of them did they seem to find the place on the work order where it indicated that my apartment was two storeys. They tried to get me to hang up the phone before telling Treigh that I was being asked to fork over extra cash. But I stayed on the phone and told him, which pissed them off to no end.
— Their pace was something akin to a trio of men who had just split a bottle of Valium. They hadn’t even left the place we were moving out of by the time that they were (based on the estimate) supposed to be finished the entire move.
— Upon arrival at our new apartment (where my boyfriend was waiting to let them in), they informed him that they were not aware that they needed to bring pulleys/​hoisting straps (Treigh told me this was no problem to accommodate). I placed another phonecall back to Treigh at the office, but there was no answer. So the movers proceeded to stand underneath the balcony in front of the apartment, holding large items (like a 3-​seater sofa, and a wardrobe?!) up over their heads, arms fully extended and buckling, until someone up on the balcony (like my boyfriend) could bend down, grab them and drag them up. This added HOURS to the move.
— In the final stretch, my boyfriend was becoming frustrated with how generally slow and leaden the movers were. He started helping them to unload the truck himself, just to be done with the process. He worked so fast that eventually, the movers just stopped trying completely, and opted to hang around outside by their truck.
— All in all, the move took 4 hours longer than I was quoted in the estimate Treigh gave to me, which made the cost of the entire process go up by $ 400.00. When it was all over, the movers told my boyfriend that they wouldn’t leave our new apartment until the full amount (including this extra cost that we weren’t expecting) was paid for immediately by credit card over the phone. Then they told him, unsolicited, how much «other customers» usually tip them in cash (their suggestion was $ 75 each?!?)
It’s sad that the charm and kindness of their point-​person, Treigh, doesn’t convey the reality of what you will get when you book with Energy Crew. Although he makes it seem like your big moving day is in good hands, what winds up happening is something that will cost you more money than you expected, and more time than you have.

Buckle up…
I’ll try to keep this brief. These guys REALLY left me in a horrible situation on my moving day… and that’s just the beginning.
First of all, I booked more than a week in advance and confirmed the move the day before to be sure. I was assured everything was good to go and not to worry about a thing.
Moving time came went… no movers… no call. I should add here that my timing was very tight as my house (that sold) was closing the following morning. I also have a wife, 3 kids and everything that comes with that. This wasn’t a small move where I could handle it on my own (or with a buddy).
I gave them a bit of leeway knowing that it was a busy time of month and called them after no one showed up after an hour. The office was closed at this point (evening move). There was no way to contact anyone at this point. I was really screwed now. It was me alone with my Uhaul and a entire house to move on my own (impossible). I worked through the night to get as much done as possible (probably 10% of the move at the most and up until 3am). My father came to help the next morning after hearing about the situation (the man is 67 years old by the way) and we got started again at 7am.
My phone message was responded to a bit before 9 am the following day after leaving a number of messages with the ‘movers’ the previous night. He sounded very sorry that the movers didn’t bother to show up (I have no idea why they didn’t and I didn’t get a reason… prehaps they’d just had enough moving for the day?). I was promised that they’d have some guys to me by noon. At noon it was between 1−3pm…by 3 they didn’t answer the phone anymore.
Me, my father and an amazing neighbour worked all day to get the move done. I literally spent over 24 hours straight moving to get this done and I still missed my closing time. Also, my father injured himself moving some heavy items (WHICH WAS THE POINT OF HIRING MOVERS TO BEGIN WITH). I managed to get to the new location at 11pm that night after having been loading since 5pm the day before.
Energy crew did call again… at 6pm (25 hours after they were supposed to be there) to say they could get me a couple guys in a few hours. I obviously didn’t believe a word from them at this point anyway. They don’t seem to understand how ‘moving’ works. You need to be out at a certain time whether renting of owning.
This should be the end, but a few days later I decided to contact them to see if they had any intention of perhaps explaining what the h#$l happened. They offered a free 2 hour move within Toronto within the year (I assume knowing that I wasn’t living there anymore!). I let them know this fact and they said they would send me a home depot gift card to apologize. It never showed up either. I contacted them 3 more times after that. First time he said he was just about to contact me (ya right) and that it would be sent the next day. 10 days later I contacted them saying it hadn’t shown up. NO RESPONSE. A few days after that I contacted them again and again NO RESPONSE.
I know this is long, but I wish I’d read this review before booking them. They aren’t even smart enough to follow through on a simple gift card after completely screwing me and my family over. I’ve given them a month now and multiple contacts. NOTHING.
In short…
–THEY DIDN’T SHOW UP AND THEY DIDN’T LET ME KNOW.
–I COULDN’T CONTACT THEM TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING.
–THEY DIDN’T SHOW UP THE NEXT DAY EITHER AFTER SAYING THEY WOULD AT NOON.
–WHEN THEY SAID THEY’D ‘MAKE IT RIGHT’ (WITH A TOKEN), THEY DIDN’T.
–AFTER GIVING THEM A MONTH AND MANY IGNORED CONTACTS, I’M FINALLY LETTING EVERYONE KNOW THE DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY.
One star is one too many in this case. It seems some people had no issue with them and I’m happy that’s the case because this cost me a lot of time and money not to mention the injury and the lack of common sense to at least try to make it better.

I recently used this moving company.
I am very mixed with my review.
The good:
The movers were really great. I had 3 guys, so the move was really fast. I felt bad because it was the hottest day of the year, and both places had stairs, but the guys were professional and fun. The move only took an hour and a half.
The bad:
–They were 30 min late. Not a huge deal since it was scheduled for 9 am, and that’s rush hour time. However rush hour should be considered when making the booking.
–The didn’t have a credit card machine available. They told me they had to call the owner of the company to put it through by phone (fine). However, the owner never answered the call!!! I had togive them my cc number and hope they wouldn’t steal it!
–I called a couple of days later to ask about it, and they said they hadn’t processed it, and would email me a receipt. That was almost 1.5 months ago — still no receipt!
–My bed was slightly damaged and not put together properly (they had put key pieces in a bag, and then forgot about it).
Overall, it was ok. Although the move was fun and efficient, based on the customer service aspect, I doubt I’d use them again.

I have used these guys 2x. The first was a super small & easy move, and the second I hired them for because the 1^st went relatively smoothly. It is the second I am reviewing them for here. It was horrible.
–They were late.
–One guy left mid move, and we were down a guy for a couple hours
–they damaged several pieces of our wood furniture (gouged)
–On both occasions they significantly under estimated the move, and we had to pay a LOT more
–They piled all of our boxes into one room irrelevant of the label on the box leaving us unable to move around
–they stopped for lunch on the way between locations, did not tell us they were going to do so, and charged us for the 45 minutes they were MIA.
In the interest of full disclosure, this move was almost 5 years ago. They may be better now. But as we are now in a position where we need movers again, and we look for different movers, I am reminded with distinct vividness how horrible THAT move was.

Booked this service on a 3-​for-​2 promotion (3 movers for the price of 2). We had some plumbing issues come up in the new place, and emailed Energy about the possibility of switching the move date to the next day instead. They responded with a simple email saying that the date had been moved to the next morning. Great.
What they didn’t mention was that the promotion that we had booked under no longer applied. Only 2 movers showed up on the morning of the move, and as would be expected, they took much longer to do the move than 3 movers would have.
We were billed for 3 movers (clearly stated on the receipt), and when we contacted Energy to fix the issue, we were told «Sorry, that promotion only applies to certain days.» After several emails, Energy admitted that they should have informed us of the change to the service that we were to be receiving, but were only willing to offer a small, token refund.
Was a returning customer and once a big fan of Energy, but this move ended up costing us a third more than anticipated and their customer service left much to be desired!

The movers had great personality (very friendly), and good experience. Despite breaking an outdoor light cover (old, not a big deal), they took great care not to damage anything — for the most part. I did detect a little lack of inexperience/​common sense (they where university students) when they moved the China cabinet (at my wife’s request) and slid it on the floor, creating a 1 foot deep scratch into a new dark wooden floor (in the new house), which is in part why I gave 3 stars. I also only gave 3 stars because an 18ft truck (which HQ assured was big enough), was not large enough, and I still have some stuff left to move (though it’s not heavy stuff).
Finally, though they messed up the final amount, and though I would have paid more, they «made it work» (and made me really happy, so I have them a good tip — which I was planning to anyhow). This is why I didn’t give it 2 stars (or less).
In the end, happy, but not as happy as I would be if they didn’t make me have to complete the job!

I can’t say enough good things about this moving company. Having my share of no shows and lousy jobs, I was hesitant to use movers but Energy Crew delivered superbly. Their online system works fabulous. You get a confirmation email right away that your reservation is booked. They also confirm the move with you one day before. I had 2 movers show up 10 mins ahead of schedule and they started right away. Roderick and his companion were great! They were meticulous about my stuff, didn’t drop anything, didn’t scratch, didn’t bang or ruin anything! They were so careful placing it into the truck and unloading. Anything that needed to be extra padded they did. The original estimate was for 4 hours and they got it done in 3. They don’t waste your time, they just want to do their job properly and leave. Total for 3 hours with tax came to $ 360 which is not bad!
Only hiccup that day, 3 movers were supposed to show up instead of 2 because of promotion they have going on if you book before 25^th of the month. I told Roderick and he said he’s address it with office. At the end they rounded down my time and they did such an amazing job that I wasn’t too bothered by it.
This was my most flawless move ever, nothing went wrong! Thank you so much for taking such good care of my stuff.

I can’t sing the praises of Energy Crew enough. I couldn’t have asked for a better moving experience. Ryan and another man showed up at the loading dock of my building EXACTLY on time! My move smooth and hassle-​free. They worked the entire way through efficiently and were able to navigate around the downtown Toronto construction/​traffic effortlessly. Plus, the price was fantastic! (We got 7 – 8 quotes and they were the best)
These guys run a very good operation and I will surely use them next time I move, as well as recommend them to my friends. Thanks Energy Crew for making my day much less stressful than it could have been.

I got three price quotes for my big move and Energy Crew was the cheapest (and no annoying «travel time» charge). Booking was done through an easy-​to-​use web form.
The three-​man crew arrived a little late on moving day but an apologetic e-​mail and phone call from the owner and all was forgiven (I was just worried they’d no-​show!). The clock didn’t start ticking until they were properly parked and totally ready to start working, which was appreciated.
The crew was friendly, fast, competent, and — true to their name — energetic. Everything arrived safe and sound (including two huge mirrors I was thinking of moving myself) and in less time than I expected, which earned the guys a tip (tip your movers if they deserve it people!).
The price was exactly as expected, and I was able to pay by credit card over the phone, which was handy and left me with a big wad of cash in my pocket to blow on other things.
Props to EC for making my move a little less stressful!

Our first time hiring movers after a collective 12 moves between my girlfriend and myself, we found the service to deliver everything it promised. Treigh made everything very clear and simple over the phone, and come moving day the movers arrived and did a speedy and exceptional job with our furniture through our buildings narrow hallways and its many stairs. Nothing was damaged or lost, and the whole process took half an hour less than expected which was nice. I would recommend these guys to anyone in the GTA looking to move!

I had booked a move from my apartment to a shipping container company and was always impressed by Treigh’s professionalism and good nature. He is the guy who always answers the phone. I unfortunately had to cancel since the shipping company cancelled my booking on me with less than 24 hours notice (see my review on Universal Truck Rental). If the moving service they offer is as good as Treigh’s help, I’m sure you’d be pleased!

I was extremely pleased with the professionalism from Energy movers. From my initial conversation with Treigh about the logistics of my move to their final careful placement of a piano to fit a small condo apartment, they did an amazing job!
Treigh (who I think is the owner?) made absolute sure I understood the terms and fees associated with moving and was very honest and upfront in his explanations, which I appreciated as this was my first moving experience that I organised on behalf of my family. It’s sad but there are many dodgy little moving companies operating in the GTA area, but everything I spoke upfront to Treigh about was well communicated and carried out by his trusty movers Francisco and Steve with punctuality and professionalism .
The move itself in theory was quite difficult as it was a two part move, first moving my family from suburbia to my home in T.O. temporarily, then again some months later moving my family into their own condo. The fact that we had scaled down the contents of a huge suburban home into my tiny basement and also separately to a storage facility was handled with ease by these professional guys. I also appreciated that the movers were on point the whole time no lollygagging, they worked like machines but were also polite and nice! I also appreciate that they were very respectful as family who helped with the move were mostly comprised of females, in the past we’ve been subject to some unnecessary sexist/​flirtatious remarks from other movers! Energy Crew may be a smaller company but trust me, they are all class!
In terms of cost value, I can’t give you a solid figure as I used the service a couple years back, but I will say for the amount of work, degree of difficulty and distance covered, I definitley will say it was very, very reasonable compared to many quotes from the other moving companies.

When it comes to moving — I don’t think I’ve ever really heard of a good story. For energy crew, I tell you what was good and what was bad.
Start with the good — the price was very competitive, the online scheduling was simple and their time estimation was bang on. They handled my damage claim (see below) in a timely manner (but paid out only a ‘token’ amount)
Now the bad —
1. The crew showed up 1.5h late. When I complained, I was told «that’s normal». At one point they called to say they were running 30min late, but there was no follow up phone call to say it was going to be WAY longer than that.
2. We specifically asked the 3 guys (not professional movers but summer university students) how to protect our furniture. Daniel told us not to worry — that everything would be wrapped in blankets. Well that did NOT happen and two of our leather couches were torn. So bad in fact, that we had to buy a new couch. On the contract that I signed (but wasn’t given or shown to me until after the move was completed) the fine print does indicate that it is MY responsbility to wrap and protect all furniture. I wish I would have known that — it would have saved me the $ 1200 I just paid for a new couch. All they had to do was tell me and I would have taken the proper precautions. This was my first time EVER hiring a moving company, so I was relying on their expertise.
3. We had JUST had the hardwood floors refinished 4 days before moving. Our hardwood guy made it clear that the floors were safe to walk on but to be diligent not to slide any furniture. We spoke to the movers and they agreed to carry and not slide any furniture, You can imagine our disappointment when the guys dropped and dragged a chest of drawers along our floor, gauging and scraping the hardwood floors. We have since had to rehire our hardwood expert to fix THEIR damage.
4. With over $ 1500 in damages, we got $ 80 reimbursed. I guess something is better than nothing but I will NEVER hire a moving company again. It is not worth it!
