I’ve been coming to this store for many years and always find something special, either as a gift or for myself. The owner has a great knack for finding great clothes, jewelry and little gifts and makes a point of having items on hand from either Canadian or more local artists. It’s always a pleasure to visit.

This is the kind of store that makes me wish I wasn’t a poor student. I was drawn in immediately by the knick knacks that covered every possible space. It reminds me of the Little Mermaid song, sing with me now…
«I’ve got gadgets and gizmos aplenty, I’ve got whosits and whatsits galore. You want thingamabobs, I’ve got twenty. But who cares, no big deal, I want more.» I really really wanted to buy and buy. I think that a store like this has served its purpose when every where you look there is something eye-catching. And it wasn’t just«things» to fill your shelves, but rather cute little necessities to make your life easier, and just a little bit prettier. Some of my fave brands found in-store, Lug, Converse and many many more. All of them encompassing everything from purse hooks to spatulas and baby goodies. I can’t wait to head back with a little green in my pocket! Bottom line… don’t let the Danforth fool you, they sell more than Greek!

What a wonderful store, the owner has great taste in carrying some fantastic Canadian designers. Its a definite must store on the Danfort — its a great gift store for both you and of course a friend… or that special friend in you! With Great handbags, purses, wallets. this small shop packs a wallop on your wallet. there’s great gift ideas in here — tea sets, pretty pillows, cute kitchen utensils. there’s also great gift ideas for yourself. today, i treated myself to a pretty necklace, earrings and a sparkly wallet(that’s going back though because if you’re like me and carry a crapload of crap, you won’t get that sucker closed). there’s clothing, purses and i really like their jewellery selection, some of it is locally created. the lady at the shop was very friendly too. this place is just plain awesome!

El Pipil is one of many clothing/gift stores along the Danforth between Pape and Broadview. Trust me: walk along there and you will encounter MANY shops that seem pretty much just like this one. Leaving aside its similarities to its neighbours, El Pipil is still very much a Danforth hot spot. I’ve visited this store on a couple of occasions when in need of a gift, and have always walked out satisfied. Last Christmas I bought my mom a set of 5 pairs of gorgeous chopsticks for the ridiculously low price of $ 8, and just yesterday I found an adorably kitschy magnetic paper doll set($ 10) and super cute cartoon animal pillow($ 12) for a friend’s birthday. The store has a great selection of silly pop culture-inspired fluff, pretty home accessories, and fantastic jewelery that is sure to tempt everyone’s tastes. And the best part? All of that is pretty damn affordable. Now, of course, there’s got to be a reason I gave this shop only 4 stars though, right? That’s because of the store’s back section: the clothing area. Sure, some of these clothes are super stylin’, but they’re also in a way higher price range than their goods in the front. Lately I don’t even bother looking through the clothing racks because I know I’ll just get disappointed when I find a beautiful sweater for $ 100. Still, if you’re looking for a fun gift(especially for a housewarming party!), this is definitely a great place to check out. Just be sure to remind yourself that you’re buying things for your friend, and not yourself — this stuff is so cute that you could easily walk out with a bag full of knick-knacks just for you.
