The Edward Day Gallery was established in 1992 and represents both Canadian and International award-winning emerging and senior contemporary artists. The collection is comprised of sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, and other media. Located in the heart of the Queen West Art District of Toronto, the Edward Day Gallery professionals are committed to advising both new and experienced art buyers about art acquisitions.
History
Established in 1992.
The Edward Day Gallery originated in Kingston, Ontario in 1992 through founders Donald Edward Day, Pip Day and Mary Sue Rankin. The gallery played a key role in the Kingston/regional Ontario communities, exhibiting/representing local, regional and international artists. In addition to exhibitions, the gallery hosted numerous community events that encouraged a rich exchange of artistic/cultural disciplines.
Edward Day relocated to the Toronto-based Yorkville district in 1996/97, expanding the exhibition mandate to include local, Canadian and international artists, as well as local Toronto events.
In 2003, Edward Day Gallery moved to the heart of the Queen St. West Art & Design District at 952 Queen St. West (Queen & Shaw). The gallery will play a key role in anchoring the 952 Queen West Art complex and continue to contribute to the Canadian contemporary art discourse.
