Terrible customer service! I am surprise how the owner is still in business. We recently moved to the area. I always buy fresh flowers on Fridays and despite the really bad first experience I went back to give this place another chance. First of all their prices are extremely expensive. A simple small bouquet that I usually pay $ 20 for is at least $ 45 there. But I didn’t have a problem with prices the service was ok. The owner gave me so much attitude because I just didn’t give him a budget and ask him to choose for me. Then he started picking some flowers that were too open and when I asked him to change one he didn’t like it and gave me a really bad attitude. Then he got pissed off and asked me to stand behind the cash. At this point I just wanted to leave but I thought I would pay for the flower and never come back. Then since he didn’t even ask me how many stems I want I asked how many I am paying for and he got even more pissed off and gave me more attitude. There are so many great flower shops in this city that I don’t need to go back there. I’ll go somewhere that they appreciate my business. Too bad for this guy!

DON’T bring your business here. The owner is a complete bully and I’ve never received such terrible service as I did here today. First, he was not happy when I explained I was looking for some flowers for a $ 20 – 25 range. He reprimanded me for«not wanting to pay for the quality of his many years of expertise», and that if I wanted something as nice as I saw on the website, I would have to fork out. I explained that I was picking up flowers as a favor to a friend and it wasn’t my decision how much to spend. I excused myself to leave, as it was quite clear that my $ 25 was not welcome there. As I was leaving, I told him very politely that there was a professional way he could have explained that I wasn’t in the right shop for what I was looking for. He argued that I was the one being rude, «Coming in here and being on your phone.» — he had misinterpreted my turning off iTunes so that I could speak with him as such. When I explained that I would be writing this review, he taunted«Go ahead — there are plenty of those already.» I collected my nerves outside the shop and overhead him say to the other associate«Can you believe that? She just came in here and went off on me.» As if I was the rude, condescending, angry one. Just writing this exactly as he asked me to. The man is more interested in his ego than his clients. Go to Quince Flowers 3 min down the road — Bigger shop wider selection, and I promise you won’t get the attitude. The moral of the story is that if you’re an insecure, unhappy, disgruntled floral designer with not much else to your name than a struggling little shop, you should stop chasing away your customers with your bitchy attitude. This isn’t about how much money you want to spend, or how much his work is worth — This is classic BAD customer service and no work of his can ever redeem that.

I’ve had nothing but excellent service from Ecostems. After falling victim to all of the amazing posts I’ve seen of terrariums on the web we came across Ecostems who sell all of the plants and materials(as well as pre-built ones) you could possibly need to build your masterpiece. Our terrarium came out awesome with some helpful tips and design advice from the lady working. We recently returned to buy more plants and whatnot for 2 more! They have a great selection and something for everyone. The 4 star review stems from the slight overpricing of some of their products– this is what prompted us to build our own, one from here can run you $ 200. Although organics and sustainability can run you a pretty penny I still feel the markup is a little high.

I had the worst experience with customer service while shopping for plants at Ecostems. The owner exhibits very self-entitled behaviour, and becomes easily confrontational with the patrons of his shop. My plants from here are beautiful, but so are my plants from everywhere else.

I keep trying to give this place my business because I like to buy local, but they are consistently rude. I give up. Also, the plants that I have bought from them died within a month.

Absolutely shocked by the rude customer service. Very condescending and not at all helpful over the phone. Truly a shame, since they appear to have a decent product. The person I spoke to claimed to be the owner. Honestly a shockingly bad phone experience. I would not even consider ordering from this florist.

I’m so surprised at the reviews on here. I had a pleasant experience with Helena, who I met at the Distillery District Wedding Open House. Ecostems is the preferred supplier of the Distillery District so we(not knowing much about flowers) went with them for our wedding. During our consultation she was great and put us at ease. She wasn’t pushy or tried to get us to agree to arrangements/things we didn’t like. She understood what we wanted and in that regard she delivered. Closer to the wedding day we were more in contact with Joe than Helena(I think she had left for her well deserved vacation by then). Joe was not the devil man that most of these reviews portray him as. While he definitely did not give us the same level of friendliness and service as Helena, he did his job. I was pretty miffed at the extra costs that were tacked on as the big day approached and I wish they had told us all of that up front but overall I was pleased with the service I received. My bouquet, centerpieces and aisle decorations were great. My flower crown was beautiful.

This review is for the lady sales associate who served my friend and I at the Green Living Show last week. It was beyond the most«rudest» customer service I have ever seen in my life. Bought a Spanish lavender the first day from them. All was well. The next day, we went back and my friend had bought a huge plant that was too big for her house. We brought it back the next morning explaining the predicament and the sales lady who had been helping us said, no refunds. Ok, well, we will exchange it for something else. She was so rude, she took a perfectly fine plant and threw it on the ground like it was garbage. I was so shock, we told her, let me speak with the manager. She said to us, «the manager would have done the same thing.» I was still like, give me their phone number and she wrote an email on their business card and literally threw the card back at us. The furniture sales lady, who shares a booth with them witness all of this and apologized to us. That lady should have apologized, not have someone apologize for them. This was truly the poorest customer service anyone could have ever possible receive. I was going to purchase one of their vase arrangements from them, but after seeing how they treated my friend, I changed my mind.

On the hunt for the perfect desk plant, I went out of my way to Ecostems on a chilly February saturday. Hipster looking pots, globes, planters, baskets brimmed with healthy looking plants. I spotted some beautiful, self-declared sustainable(with prices to match the claim) terraniums. While I pondered picking one up for our apartment, the owner(Joe) provided his thoughts on the care of the plants. When I noted that my home had north western exposure, Joe shook his head… and reccomended that I get an apartment with better light… Let me reiterate, for entertainment’s sake: consider uprooting one’s life in order to accomodate apartment plants. I thought this was funny, more than anything else. Anyway, I found a little airplant($ 10ish), but unfortunately, the machine didn’t work– so having no cash, I walked away empty handed. 4 stars for the entertainment value of the owner’s comments 3 stars for the price(if truely sustainable, then I’d be okay with the value) 1 star as I couldn’t pay for what I wanted, so my mission for a desk-friend remains unfulfilled.

I found the service to be exceptionally friendly. More importantly, the floral arrangements were modern, unique, and tasteful – the opposite of the sort of neon-dyed FTD horrorshows I’d been hoping to avoid. You won’t find grandmotherly tulips, carnations, and roses here, only lovely nature-inspired designs. My friend was delighted by her get-well bouquet.

I started buying my flowers and plants at ecostems shortly after Joe opened about 4 years ago. He has always been helpful and informative especially to someone like me who often has a hard time keeping plants alive in my low light apartment. I have also used him for floral arrangement deliveries and I am always pleased with his work. I put trust in Joe’s creative decisions because he’s honest with me. My advice is to take the good and bad reviews with a grain of salt. And take a chance on a business like ecostems. You might be pleasantly surprised.

The flowers are nice but expect rude customer service. The guy who always answers the phone is incredibly snotty. You can’t kill this guy with kindness, as I’ve tried. I doubt he’s the owner, because it would be a horrible idea to represent your company so poorly. I’ve always ordered flowers from here, but I’m just going to find another florist. It’s not worth the trouble anymore – I hate calling this guy. If you’re the owner reading this – please talk to your rude employee or replace him with someone who is decent towards customers. Decent is all I ask for.

Before today, I have never been compelled to write a review, good or bad. But I felt that my experience was so out of the ordinary bad, that it needed to be told. Walked into this place, was the only one there, and started looking around to get inspired for a small product shoot I was doing. The only offer of help was to icily try to define exactly what I was looking for and to let me know that if I say ‘a few’ then I must be looking for 3 things — uh, okay then, if you want to get into semantics! In any case, I tried to look around for ideas but the vibe was so overwhelmingly negative that as soon as I touched something he basically chased me out of the store because I didn’t seem to know what I was looking for. What I don’t get is why someone who has this kind of personality opens a public storefront? It makes no sense. If you want this beautiful modern organic look go to Botany Floral Studio or Crown Flora Studio — not here.
