Dufferin Subway Station

One bus goes by this station. This station is your typical subway station sure but exiting this station if you want to use the 29 bus sort of seems to be a nightmare of sorts. The sidewalk can get a busy if not busier than a subway platform.
If you’re wanting to use the 29 bus (Dufferin) you’ll need a transfer from somewhere other than Dufferin station, basically anywhere else as the platforms for the bus station are on the street outside the station just north of Bloor street on either side, west side for southbound and east side for northbound.
The buses that run along here can be the double length buses which do let on passengers from multiple doors. «Proof or purchase»? You could essentially be a toll evader and just get on the bus via the back doors. This place can be absolute chaos. Are there actually fare inspectors? As I said the quantity of people trying to get on this busy bus line can be ridiculous. Once you’re on the bus and there’s no inspector guess what? If you didn’t pay you just got on for FREE! I of course had a transfer from another station most likely Kipling.
On this particular day (Friday Oct 16^th, 2015 around 6:15pm) I’m referring to we were going southbound and the northwest corner of Dufferin and Bloor was packed. Packed with people waiting for the south bound bus, I counted 8 buses total that came northbound. 4 of which were normal buses and 4 were double length buses that stopped for passengers across the street come before 2 buses in a row came to our stop going southbound.
When I get to the street level from this station and see how inefficient the buses can be I am sorrily reminded time and time again how the TTC is so lacking consider we live in the 4^th largest city on this continent.

Everytime I’m on the subway and I see sketchy people, they always get off at Dufferin Station. I like the area around Dufferin station but, I don’t care for the station itself; there are too many stairs. I can’t imagine what people with the slightest health troubles do, to get up those stairs. I had to dock on extra star because the 29 is the bus that goes by the station and that bus sucks. You wait for 25 mins, then 3 buses fly by. Dufferin Station is under construction right now, so I hope I something positive to report in a few months! 3 stars!

Not one of the nicest stations on the Bloor-​Danforth line due to the clientele that frequently uses this place, but reliable due to it’s close proximity to the Dufferin Shopping Mall and streetcars that frequent the intersection of Bloor and Dufferin Streets. Under renovation for sometime, the station doesn’t offer much to look at as it is not an attractive station. Serves it’s purpose of being another station in the TTC’s system.

I have watched the «progress» of the retrofit on this station and the only thing that moves regularly is completion date of the various sub-​projects. Of course, even that doesn’t happen on a timely basis — they didn’t change the completion date from end of April 2011 until mid-​May. They finally gave up specificity and went with «End of Summer» We’ll really be chuckling about that one when while we shake the snow off of our boots, won’t we?

Not a bad station considering except what’s with all the bees?!
I am excited to hear that this will be one of the stations that is getting a face lift in the next 18 months, perhaps a bigger covered area would be nice.
My only recommendation is make sure you have a transfer BEFORE you leave this station. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve forgotten to grab one and had to pay again :-(

I’m giving this place three stars because it is clean and is about a fifteen minute bus ride from my house. That is of course if you’re lucky enough to catch a bus along that route.
The area surrounding this station gets a much lower rating but that’s because I have seen no less than seven fights between grown men with their shirts off at all times of the day and night. I don’t know why this corner is a magnet for drunken, half naked crazy man fights but it’s a strange sight to behold at 4am.
