I recently brought three coats to be dry cleaned at Creeds. It cast me $ 198. One of the coats was a Burberry trench and another was an Alpaca Maxmara coat. At $ 68 per coat, I was sure I was in good hands. I had to leave the trench behind for another go because I could still see the outline of the button at the collar. And even after a second go, I could still see some dark marks in parts of the coat. When I took the Maxmara home, it was obvious that something had happened to the plush soft look and feel. It was the first time I had it dry cleaned and until that moment the coat looked and felt beautifully soft, made you want to touch it. When I read the cleaning instructions it clearly said that low dry cleaning chemicals should be used. I think they burned the tiny fibers in the fabric that give it its softness. So I returned it to Creeds to ask what happened. They took my coat and said they would speak to produciton and call me back in two days. When I did not hear from them after a week, I wrote to Jeremy Creed, who promises to «personally see to it that your issue is addressed to the highest possible standard.» He responded immediately and said he would look into it. A couple of days later I received this response from one of his staff: Dear Angela, I spoke with our Production Manager about your coat who confirmed that the care instruction was followed. We believe that the change in the feel that you brought to our attention is not directly attributed to the cleaning process. If the finish(glaze/sheen) had a limited durability, then it’s beyond our control. She tried to brush down the faux fur using a fur brush and my understanding is, it came out softer. Will be at our depot tomorrow by 12 noon. For the inconvenience, we would like to offer $ 25 off your next dry cleaning order. Thank you for your patience & understanding and sorry for the troubles. Regards, Zeny What a coincidence that the plushness of my coat expired at the same moment that Creeds dry cleaned it. The coat is worth $ 1,500 and cost $ 68 to clean and ruin. Now I am being offered a rebate of $ 25 for my troubles and to bring more clothes. This is the highest standard of service at Creeds. All I can say is that Creeds will never see any of my clothes again. Be warned, if you have clothes that need special care, I suggest you ask the manufacturer where to get it cleaned. When I asked Maxmara where I should have taken my coat to get cleaned, they said bring it here because most dry cleaners do not know how to handle our delicate fabrics. Unfortunately for me, I learned this only too late.

If you want your high end clothing done right creeds is the place to go. It’s the recommended place for Burberry. It may be a bit pricey for dry cleaning but considering what you’re cleaning it’s worth it to get it done right.

I have sent suits to any number of dry cleaners in Toronto. I would never trust a tie or my suits to a street corner dry cleaner. I tried that when I was younger and my suits and ties would come back flat as pancaked and shiny from their press machines. I ruined too many suite and ties that way. Harry Rosen staff have recommended Dove’s in the past. I went there 3 times. I could write a book on how bad the service and results were. The only place that has earned my trust with fine garments is Creeds. Although pricey, if you want to be sure of great results and make sure that your clothes aren’t damaged — in my opinion, Creeds is the only cleaner in Toronto. They get it right every time. They are very careful. My clothes comeback perfect every time.

I really enjoy taking advantage of the pick up and delivery. I don’t always have the time to do it on my own time so to have them come to my office is awesome. I have a few quality pieces that I need more attention paid to, their quality is impeccable.

Creed’s is a high-end dry cleaner on Dupont, west of Spadina Road. The location is nice because it has parking out front for customers, unlike other places where you have to rely on street parking when dropping off or picking up. For the price I must say I was entirely disappointed in the service. They weren’t overly friendly and just took the shirts and really wasn’t interested in my questions about their service, or in hearing my instructions about what I wanted done. I brought in three shirts just to try them out and compare to my other cleaner(Ready to Wear). One shirt had never been worn or washed before. This shirt came back with lots of collar sheen and creases. It was clear they had used too much heat and pressed to hard, resulting in the cotton being burned and the outlines of the collar stay holder showing through to the front. This is pretty typical of your standard $ 2.50 per shirt cleaner, but for an allegedly«high-end» place it’s totally unacceptable. They also pressed on these barcode stickers to the inner placket for tracking purposes which cannot be removed. They are barely noticeable but it’s more of the principle that they would make this permanent change to the garment without telling you. I realize this makes the shirts easier to track and avoids paper tags, but when I’m paying $ 7 a shift for laundering I think they could take the time. One plus is that all garments come with reusable hanging bags instead of plastic. I will stick to Ready to Wear on Avenue Road. Will not be returning to Creed’s for any reason.
