One of the best cheese places in town I’d say. And my family has eaten a LOT of cheese ;) I always go here because the owner Kenny and the other guys are super knowledgeable and suuuper friendly. It was amazing to see how they knew almost everything there is to know about cheese and recommend me based on what I was having for dinner. I had a few out of town guests to entertain that night and Alex and Geoff made some really nice suggestions. They even suggested a bottle of wine that I later got. Result? Perfect night. And our guests actually stopped by before their flight to get some cheese vac-sealed. Their olives in house-made chili oil is a must-try. Also try their avonlea cheese when you get a chance, absolute delight!

4.5 stars! Now HERE is a cheese shop that seems to really love cheese and the people they serve it to. I was searching for some olives today and found just what I wanted. Since I was there, I figured I’d check out some of the cheeses. You never know when you’re going to want a little wine and cheese and putting a little forethought into your selections can make all the difference. Len was kind enough to let me try several different types of cheese even though I told him I was just looking for a little something in particular that day. I ended up selecting a really yummy Ubriaco Rosso Trevigiani that Len had suggested. originally the piece he cut me was much too large, and cost over $ 20, which was much too much for just my boyfriend and I. So he graciously offered to cut it in half, which was perfect. I also found out that they carry Fontina cheese, which I’ve had a very hard time finding up until now. Len even gave me a little business card that has a place on the back to stick the label of cheese so you remember what it was and can write tasting notes. What a brilliant marketing idea! The experience here was quite contrary to last few places I’ve purchased cheese from. I’m pleased to say that Chris’ Cheese will be my go-to cheese shop in the market from now on. Great customer service and fabulous products.

This place is great. The guys at Chris Cheesemongers gave me the cheese know-how that I needed to put on an awesome cheese party that totally impressed my guests. Andrew and Lenny are especially helpful, and have also gave me some reasonable wine suggestions to pair with my cheese.

I’ve been to all the cheese shops at the St. Lawrence Market, and Chris Cheese Mongers is by far my favourite! The service is very friendly and knowledgeable, and the selection of cheese is great. My only gripe is that good, stinky, artisan cheese in Canada is so bloody expensive.

This is my go-to place in the St. Lawrence Market when I’m looking for cheese. This past weekend, I was looking for Smoked Mozzarella and Fontina cheese. They even saved me the work of grating it myself. The boys behind the counter are all very knowledgeable and all very friendly. And there are always samples at the counter of whatever feature cheese they have. They are also not slow to recommend pairings or supplementary products to go with(some may call this upselling), but I just think of it as expanding my culinary knowledge of food pairings. If you don’t have cash, you’re in luck. They take plastic here ;)

Perhaps the biggest cheese shop in SLM, Chris cheese mongers is affiliated with Alex Farms at the back of the market. They have an excellent selection of cheese here from generic standbys such as cheddar and gouda to boutique cheeses from quebec, ontario and europe. What I like about em is that they offer good customer service compared to their Alex Farms counterparts. For one you don’t feel rushed as much. The guys here are always friendly, handing out samples and offering tips on what to pair cheese with. Believe me, I got an earful from one fella when I bought some buffalo mozzarella once, he gave me some tips on a caprese salad. How cute! It’s also very helpful that the display cases have descriptions of the various cheeses with notes on the region, taste and pairings. Makes selecting a cheese more fun.
