5 stars is for the Jamaican beef patty. It was hot, flaky and delicious! Reminds me of an empanada but 10x better! The guy(owner?) was rude though :/

The only thing I’ve ever bought were the Jamacian beef patties; Michidean or «JaPatty»(got the eighth spot for«The Best Jamaican Patties in Toronto») is what they sell and they are awesome. I thought it might have been $ 1.50 for one but, as the other reviewer stated, who knows … after reading about the cockroach business, I’ll likely NOT return.

After seeing a large ROACH scurrying across the front counter on Tuesday August 5th, I lost my desire for café on the go. It never struck me as clean, big bowls of open ingredients sitting out(spring rolls, etc), plus overall dirty looking. The cookies were quite good, but after that experience I’m done with café on the go…

Beef patty is pretty tasty, a little on the salty side. What upsets me is the price… It’s very unclear, one-day it’s $ 1.50 a patty the next it’s $ 1.75.

My friend introduced me to this place when we got to Islington station. Café on the go is coveniently located across the bus platforms and its cash only. When you get in, it looks old with those mustard coloured walls but the smell of food keeps you in line. Every time I went here, its busy and the staff isn’t too friendly but are whipping through one customer after another, since they understand everyones in a hurry to get where they need to go. My favourite thing to get is their beef patties, they are hot and crispy. fresh every time! They have an assortment of spring rolls, samosas, patties and other baked goods with the option of meat or veggie. I will come here for a quick beef patti because I’m addicted ;)

Subway stations in the west end of the city don’t offer much in terms of food options. Islington station is the only one to have a little café that carries food, baked goods and coffee. I love that I don’t have to exit the station in order to buy from here, I can simply hop off at Islington, get yummy apple turnover and get back on the subway. I’d argue that their apple turnovers are some of the best in the city… but getting one depends on if they get your order right. Based on my experience, there is a 50⁄50 chance you will end up with the wrong turnover or something completely different. The staff is not very attentive and I would recommend double checking your change too.
