History

Established in 1903.

Branksome Hall is an independent, non-​denominational girls’ day and boarding school and an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. JK-​12, Branksome graduates go on to some of the best universities internationally. We’re situated on 13 acres in downtown Toronto at Yonge and Bloor Streets, in Rosedale.

Founded in 1903, Branksome Hall is now in its second century as a premier school for girls in Canada and the world.

Branksome’s seventh Principal, Karen Murton, has been leading the school since 1998.

When I came here many years ago, I have to say I wasn’t as pleased with the school as I am today. The school over the last 10 years has really evolved and marked itself as a unique private school for girls. It’s differentiated itself by establishing the IB diploma, which is by far superior to the OSSD that you would get at other schools. I wish I had that opportunity and always was jealous at my UCC counterparts that they had it.
By nature of this diploma is forces the girls to become leaders in their own right. The discipline, application and thoughfulness required to complete the courses inherently help develop the mind to think a certain way, and require the girls to be motivated in a certain way.
And there’s something to be said about the type of people that the girls would befriend and their relationships in the future.
Thinking of sending your daughter here? I would. But then there’s the debate between public vs. private school and when is the right time.
