Here’s the thing — if you know the difference between a 300 thread count pillow case and a 480 thread count case, then you’ll probably fit right in here. If you know the reason why a 800 thread count sheet made with Egyptian cotton is better than a 1000 thread count sheet made of regular cotton, then you’ll probably never want to leave here. You walk in — and you’re overcome with linens. So many that it started to hurt my head. It was like walking into a senior biology lesson at a German university(when you speak only English.) Actually, you know — it was worse than the time I did that. I, at least, grasp the concept of university. This bedding store was beyond me. I can tell you that they had sales everywhere though — if you don’t mind the pattern, some garish 800 thread count sheet can be yours for 30 bucks, down from 179. This seems a fair deal. But, I don’t know what I’m looking at, still. Heaven help me, though, I think I might come back for that 800 thread count Egyptian cotton bedding set. The only thing I need to do first is research why I need it. But, oh — do I want it!

Beddington’s is an unusually large store on Bloor, sharing jumbo-sized retail space in the the same building as Jenny Craig(won’t be reviewing that one anytime soon; I can exercise and cook my own healthy food, thank you very much). It’s only a few doors down from the similarly-though-more-snootily-named Bettenhaus, which hawks all bed-things soft and Swedish. Beddington’s is a bit more middle-of-the-road, and I doubt there’s a lot of customer overlap between the two. Then again, how many bedsheets get sold around here? Anyway, that’s not to say that Beddington’s is crappy. They have their own brand, and I tried out some of their bamboo sheets. When I was first told about bamboo sheets – being a man not particularly into fabrics – I assumed they had just a bamboo print on them. But they’re actually made from bamboo, blended with cotton and are apparently enviro-friendly, in addition to being pretty soft and comfy. They come in muted, slightly metallic colours.
