I’ve been here for 20 minutes only to pay $ 6 cover, and about $ 6.25 for a regular can of PBR. That would be fine had I not just paid for a karaōke singer and Jez from Peepshow to entertain me. Come drunk. Or spend your money at McDonald’s. A mix of one song from Jez, 15 mins of «setting up» and a blondie singing country blues who just sang the line, no lie, «i took a big f&$;(): shit on her throat“is…well…a Big Mac trumps this. No question.

LASERS!!! We decided to go to this place almost exclusively because it has lasers. Baltic Avenue, a well-named spot at Bloor and Ossington, is owned by Gary Rideout Jr, the same guy who owns Comedy Bar. If he’s shown us anything, it’s that good things sometimes take a little time. This new place still has a few kinks to work out, but overall I had a good night. PROS: coat check, great location, lots of places for sitting and hanging out with your friends, small but workable dance floor, lasers, lasers, lasers, quick bar service, good drinks. We had a lot of fun dancing and found the place overall really chill. Most people hung out on the couches all night, but the dance floor was popping by midnight. $ 5 cover. CONS: very hit-and-miss DJ on this particular«good vibes» Saturday night. He’d play like 20 mins straight of awesomeness followed by 20 mins of pure crap that would literally erase the dance floor. He also didn’t take requests. People would scatter and go get drinks and the floor would remain empty until a good song finally filled the air again. Also, the crowd was… weird. Strange guys of various ages dancing by themselves, multiple couples engaging in rather sexual behaviour(no word of a lie, I actually saw this one girl giving a dude a full-blown lap dance and touching him in very inappropriate ways/places on a fold up chair to the side of the dance floor), a few young girls making out here and there. No one bothered us in particular, it was just a slightly unusual and shameless scene. FINALTHOUGHTS: I think Baltic Avenue would be an awesome spot to see bands. It would be a good place for fun celebrations/birthday parties as well and I certainly would return again, but on a different night with a different DJ.

Great(very) new place to dance, lots of fun. You can book it for private events, or stop by on a random Saturday night(I suggest following their Twitter for updates on big parties) and hang out. As this place is new they don’t have set weekly club-type nights yet, but there are parties every weekend. Fantastic place for groups and birthday parties where you want to get messy and dance however you want(not a place where you will be judged!). There is a bar area in the front near the entrance(they have coat check), several couches/booths along the walls and a great dance floor area in the back. Great place for bands, DJ nights and the occasional comedy show. You can dress up here, or dress more casually, there is a very chill vibe and mostly the intention is to get silly… and dance! Can anyone say lasers?! I love lasers.
