Amazing Party Store

Let’s start with the good — Went there on October 21 after work. Generally busy but not like MAD HOUSE busy. They had a fair amount of floor sales associates and I was approached at least 5 times by five different sales people while I stood there looking confused and indecisive.
I was there about 2 years ago and purchased a costume with relative ease. Perhaps it was easy since it wasn’t an entirely popular costume and was easy to find…
If you want a costume, you have to find your choice on their MEGA WALL, they have so many costumes that they have the posters lining the upper walls through almost all of their aisles. If you want to try on a costume (only 2 costumes per change-​room) you have to write down the costume number & name, bring it to their special warehouse staff and they run off and bring out the costumes to you.
This is where my time at the store went downhill.
I called before hand to double check they would have my desired costumes in stock. I posed the question «Does your website stock reflect the stock you carry in store?» I was told YES.
This is not the case. I had my eye on about 6 different costumes, 5 of them could not be found AT ALL in the store despite being listed on-​line as being available. They also seem to «Sell out» of costume despite STILL having the costume poster on their wall. So its a huge god damn time waster both for customers and sales staff to run around looking for costumes that don’t actually exist. or do they? WHO FUCKING KNOWS.
Amazing Party Store just seems disgracefully disorganized…
This place is mostly staffed by young adults. Although helpful and generally polite, 75% of them seem to be «out to lunch» and try as they might, they fail on a few areas of being detail oriented and perceptive. I handed one of the costume runners my requested costumes slip, and he came out with the totally wrong thing (wrong as in I wanted 2 nun costumes and he brought out Jesus of Nazareth…) So yea, I clarified my slip order and he tried again and brought out one costume that I wanted, and then another nun costume that I did not request…
ANYWAYS, Despite wanting to dress up as a provocative nun, I ended up in their sale tent (after being told one of my desired nun costumes was there), which is even more of a astounding disorganized mess. I didn’t find my desired nun costume BUT, I did find a kick ass HIGH PRIESTESS costume for dirt cheap.
So moral of the story… you will walk in and spend about 2 hours figuring out how to get your desired costume and walk away with something completely different.
But, I am super happy with what I bought! Almost like my High Priestess costume more than all the shit I tried on. What they lose in their stocking system they make up for in variety and fairly decent prices. So, its worth a shot if your are patient and willing to go there with an open mind, time and a good attitude.

its just what it looks like. a giant party store with everything u can think of. the one thing i liked was that there was always staff walking around asking if you needed help finding anything. it made finding some small things for a costume alot easier.
im sure alot of the stuff is overpriced though but its halloween whaddya gonna do.

I came here because I was looking for a costume online and ended up coming across their website. When I was first walked in, I was:
a) Amazed by how big the store was and their selection;
b) At the same time, amazed how all over the place everything was without proper signage. Not sure if this is done on purpose to encourage impulse shopping, but as someone who was looking for one distinct outfit, I almost just wanted to walk out.
Service: Not bad, but not great either. Everyone seemed a bit nonchalant and not eager to serve a customer. My one complaint is that they had a sign where to wait for the next cashier and people kept budding in front of me because the signage wasn’t clear and I was waiting for like 15 minutes.
Prices: They seem cheaper than Party City and Spirit.
Verdict: It’s a-​ok if you want a good selection but not exactly the best service.

This store has an amazing selection and I consider myself a valuable customer having spent a significant amount of money (personal and work related) over the past 5 years.
Unfortunately today I was «reminded» by the employees’ boss that there are security cameras everywhere and security at the door.
I was extremely shocked and insulted. In no way was I behaving in a suspicious manor and believe the «reminder» was completely uncalled for and on the line of accusing me of stealing.
I advised the cashier that I was unhappy and hurt by the accusation and received a «sorry».
I am very disappointed and will no longer be a retuning costumer.

This place has a vast assortment of costumes and everything you need in order to plan a party. That being said, they really need to step up their game on the customer service side of things. The staff is knowledgeable about their inventory, helpful and enthusiastic, when you can hint them down. For such a HUGE store, it is seriously understaffed. I went on a weekday at an off hour for 1 simple easy item and it took approximately an hour for an errand that should have taken 15minutes max time. Brutal

I ordered quite a few items last year for halloween. I placed the order just over a month before halloween thinking that gives me plenty of time for it to get to me over in Vancouver. Well a couple weeks went by and nothing so i called and after many tries i finally got ahold of someone who was capable of answering my questions. Apparently they didn’t have one of my items in stock and didn’t feel it was important to inform the customer. Instead they held off on the order and when they finally shipped it i received it the day before halloween and one of the items was even missing parts. Even with their impressive catalog of products (many of which can be out of stock) i will not do business with them after that headache. I advise anyone who wants to place an online order with them, beware.

Really appreciated the clerk who took his time to show me the trailers in the back with the Halloween decorations. November is definitely off season for such things, so I appreciated the extra care!

This place is the most disorganized piece of shit I’ve ever visited. I’ll start by saying that I completely understand that it’s right before Hallowe’en and they are at their very busiest. So why not plan ahead and get stuff organized ahead of time so that when the shit storm of ghouls descents upon your place, you’re prepared and don’t piss people off?
I ordered my costume bits on line on Wednesday morning. Instead of having my stuff delivered, I opted to have it picked up at the store, knowing I’d likely be out in Etobicoke by Saturday. I thought it would be a better situation to be able to walk in and bypass all the mayhem.
I could not have been more wrong.
We had a few extras to pick up so I wandered through the store and nabbed what we needed. I asked a girl who worked there how i should go about picking up my on line order. She informed me that I could go to the cash and they would page someone to get the order.
When we got the the cash, there was already one pissed off woman waiting for her costume. The guy took my number, confirmed hers and left to go to the back of the store and look. Now, it seemed like, at one point, they had some organizational system in order. Past the check out lanes, there were bins saying «ON LINE ORDERS» with several alphabetically sorted bins. Theoretically, it would be a lot easier for this one guy to look in these bins and hand the orders to the people coming in, versus heading through the crowds and displays to the back of the store every time only to disappear for 15 minutes at a time and return empty handed.
I waited for 45 minutes only to have this guy ask me if someone had called me about my order. Ummm. I have a confirmation and nowhere on the confirmation did it say that I would receive a phone call. I had placed my order on Wednesday and received a confirmation the next morning. I assumed that since I had chosen the in store pick up option that I could pick up my costume within 3 days. The owner/​manager dude was like «Yeah, we’re trying to fix that web problem.»
You think they might have looked into that before October.
I couldn’t wait any longer as I had to visit my father in the hospital within visiting hours so they asked me to come back. Fine. I wished they would have suggested that 45 minutes earlier. Then, 10 minutes later I get an e-​mail saying that the skirt I’d ordered was of stock, but did I still want a similar one that they had?
After all this disorganization and nonsense, I just canceled the order. Holy crap.
The Amazing Party Ruining Store is more like it. I know it’s a busy time for them, but they knew it was coming. Get a system in order and plan for it. It makes life a lot easier for you and for your customers. I will no longer be considering my self one.

If you go there for anything other than Hallowe’en merchandise during the month of October, Good luck, it’s all stored away in some «trailer in the back». I was lucky to have been helped by a high school aged teen, who happened to also be planning a Bachelorette party for her cousin, or else I don’t think anyone would’ve given me the time of day. The first girl I asked was completely bothered by my request, same with the chick, also high school aged, who was called to the front to «go to the trailer» to collect the button and tiara I came to purchase. Well, surprise surprise, they couldn’t find the button I had asked for, nor brought a sash I also mentioned as a replacement. But, they did bring the most expensive tiara they could find — it was probably right in the front because gawd forbid they provide good customer service it seems.
As for Hallowe’en stuff, this is the place to be — if the purpose of my trip was to buy a fake corpse with guts spilling out and a pair of multicoloured fishnet stockings, 5 stars hands down.
Follow up: One of the 3 latex helium balloons I paid $ 2 for, didn’t last the night.

The most unprofessional business i have ever been to!!! My fiancé happened to walk in with a coffee and after 10 minutes was ordered by an employee to throw it out!!! She rudely interrupted our conversation and like an angry mother said «Excuse me!!! No drinks in the store!!!» We were startled not even realizing we were doing anything wrong. We replied that we didn’t know that we were not allowed to have drinks to receive a condescending remark «It’s our policy.» This being my first time in the store I was not aware of their policies. I haven’t been talked to like that since i was in elementary school. We then brought it to her attention how rude she was to us and as she was walking away all we could hear was her bad mouthing us! To top this all off… we then pass by an employee with a large glass of water and another holding a water bottle!!! About 5 mins later she then comes back to us and we hear her saying to another employee «I was sent to see if she was still in the store with her coffee» again she comes up to us rudely and said «give me your coffee bitch!» I could not believe the audacity of this woman. We then asked to speak to the manager who’s name was Shawn Hamilton who also claimed to be the owner of the store! We simply told him this has nothing to do with the coffee but the fact that his employee was rude and inconsiderate. He then in response told us my employees are not rude and asked and escorted us out of the store! I have never in my life been treated with such disrespect by a store owner. Not to mention we were planning on leaving a couple hundred dollars in there for costumes! Thank god my hard earned money isn’t going to be spent there! No one should be treated the way we were today !

If I had a party store, it would be like this one! I’ve been to this store over the years and it never disappoints. There is a great selection of whatever you are looking for but you will need a car to get there.
The space is pretty huge and a bit overwhelming when you walk in. There are aisles of things and walls of wigs and hats & balloons.
We went there for some items for a pirate boat cruise in the summer and someone actually asked us for help! When we told the sales person that the last thing on our list was a puffy shirt, he said «follow me to the puffy shirt section». We stopped giggling when we hit the Pirate section. wow! We ended up buying some accessories too.

**hint: Go a month before Halloween if you are looking for a costume because it greats really really really busy (that is from experience)

Got my Halloween costume today at this place. Wow.
PROS
— Ridiculous vast selection. Lots of sizes.
— Unique costumes
— Prices are reasonable (full costumes from say $ 39.99 upward, most of them were $ 60 or so)
— The quality and fit of mine is quite good
— The website is very good so it’s easy to get your ideas before arriving
CONS
— Location is a bit of a bitch
— Place is ridiculously busy. Oct 10^th, Weds at 6pm and it was quite packed. Apparently it’s terrible on the weekends.
— Since it’s so busy, there are waits to get the costumes you want and try them on. You’re only allowed to try on 2 at a time if there is a huge line.
Overall, awesome place to go but find an off hours time to visit.

This place is the BEST!
My friend and i went to look for pirate costumes tonight and we received the best service. We were really annoying and wanted to try on 47 costumes. Each other girls was so patient, kind and helped us with ideas and products.
Beyond that – this place literally has everything you need for a good costume. I can’t recommend it enough.

Massive store full of fun!
Lots of fun outfits and accessories, and FIREWORKS!
Costumes they carry are pretty generic, but there are TONS of them.
I didnt have any issues with the staff, the younger lady who helped me was pretty awesome. It is very hectic in there obviously, but i found things to be very neat. I gave her a few ideas and off she went.
It is a bit of a pain in the butt to get to, you turn off Evans on to a side street, then on to Oxford St, but they have just about everything you can think of! Worth it to even stop in for a few minutes and scout around if you have time to waste!

I have to agree with Lara P here as the service I have recieved was nothing short of horrible! The store itself I found a little disorganized but then again most party stores are; the prices are a little steep for novalty and costume stuff though but not the worst I have seen either.
At the very back of the store they carry a line called blacklisted; which is actually a very cool line of fetish inspired clothing. Some cool tutus, corsets and more with reasonable prices considering the competition. HOWEVER, to even view these items you need to be accompanied by a staff member and as you’ve probably already gathered from the other reviews they are not the most polite people. I was intending on purchasing the item I already had in my hand and I was looking for a matching piece but was so off put by the girl who worked there that I simply put the item down and left.
I had several other umpleasant experiences shopping there and have not gone back after I heard of the bomb fiasco they had… too freaky for me!
I would almost prefer traveling all the way downtown to the myriad of options available there to avoid the horrendous service and risk to my personal safety

If you are hunting for that perfect Halloween costume, look no further!
You’ll feel like a kid in a candy store, except replace candy with endless rows of costumes, masks, and props galore.
While driving on the Gardiner, I’ve noticed this store. It’s sort of hard to miss a giant inflatable gorilla. This year they retired blow-​up King Kong and have a giant Jack-​O-​Lantern instead. There is parking in front or on the street.
The Amazing Party Store is amazingly massive. It was crazy busy and it’s only the beginning of October!
This year, I decided not to spend more than $ 50 dollars on my costume. The prices here are reasonable, but some of the sets can be pricey.
I recommend browsing the website first (which is excellent and easy to search). The pictures of set costumes are posted on the walls at the store, but they can be hard to read because they are posted high up and all over the place in each aisle.
They have sections for everything!
Typical fantasy characters, pirates (of course), zombies (of course), sexy section, dedicated area for makeup, fake weapons, etc, etc, etc.
To order a full costume, you write down the costume number/​size on a slip of paper and hand it to a staff member. they have change rooms available as well.
I wish the staff had special shirts, it is hard to determine who works there and who is shopping. I grabbed a guy from behind the counter, and he was very helpful and walked around with me.
Instead of paying $ 79 dollars for the costume I wanted, I found accessories to piece it together myself… And, I got this kick ass jeweled sword! (Brandish; strike for +2 damage)
I’ve never seen more costume everything in my life.
If you want a one-​stop shop for Halloween, come here!!!

RUDE! RUDE! RUDE! I like supporting small businesses around Etobicoke. It makes me feel good to see them thrive but this place may have great collection but the staff is very rude. I came in when they opened to try to get some balloons for a lovely co-​worker whose birthday it was and I wanted a cupcake designed balloon. I greeted them a good morning and proceeded to try to pick balloons. The lady behind the balloons just said, «No balloons this morning!». I did not hear the first time since I was excited to get the balloons and she repeated it, with a non-​chalant and unapologetic face. She did not offer why or when I can come back. Then the manager came and looked as truculent as the balloon lady and explained they were swamped with orders, which I understood. So I left feeling deflated and with a queasy feeling because they could not have cared less or even offered any options. It is really sad because this place is fully stocked with all sorts of balloons. But I would rather drive a little bit more than support a business that could not care less.
