it feels like there might be a different kind of customer they are expecting at this place then the type of folks that live in the area. totally willing to admit that im not that up on the nature of the demographics in leslieville, but im willing to risk walking the plank. i believe the ownership has changed in the past year or so, the location has for sure(moving from down the street) and there has been a makeover in the store. I spoke with the owner and she said she painted the walls white(they used to be pink — yes its true.) so that the colourful things in the store could stand out vs. conflicting visually with the flowers and knickknacks. well i buy that, but somehow this store seems without a theme, without a visual coherence and i believe that will hinder its appeal from passersby. they have kitschy candles, hanging dangly doodads(perhaps for christmas trees) and lots of crafty stuff, like stuff you might get with your grandmother, or for her, or pass onto someone else after she’s gifted you one for your birthday. just not my style. the flowers and plants however are quite beautiful. especially the flowers. theres a wall of them at the back and ive bought a chenille plant from there and two beautiful bouquets that were put together by a lovely lady with care, patience and interest.
