247 Convenience

I also have to second the review of the previous respondent. I attempted to visit this location for the first and final time last night, only to find myself embroiled in a very bizarre and uncomfortable position in which I have never been while visiting a business establishment before.
It all started in the parking lot, while I was attempting to park my car in front of the store to pick up a few odds and ends before going home for the night. As I was trying to back into the parking spot, someone emerged from the store standing directly in the spot in which I was attempting to park. I ignored this individuals insistance that I not park there and parked in the original spot as soon as he moved out of the way (words were exchanged while he blocked the way, but I know it was nothing crude or unreasonable on my end). This guy began spewing cusses at me and accusing me of attempting to park there and then go elsewhere, essentially hogging a spot reserved for his store without actually visiting it (I assumed at this point that he’s the owner or manager). I can appreciate that this does occur often in this area, but I was yelled at, sworn at and insulted before even stepping out of my car. Is this really how all potential customers in a car are welcomed?
I should have just left at this point, but I was in somewhat a state of shock, so I still entered this establishment, only to be yelled at some more, with such statements that the previous poster echoed, «Are you stupid? Are you f**king stupid, you must be stupid» all the while, being sprayed with a stream of saliva, which I suspect was intentional. Logic and reason had no impact on this guys attitude, I even pleaded to him that I could appreciate his concerns with regards to the parking situation, which I assume is commonly abused due to the absence of convenient parking and the number of bars and clubs in the area, but I would think you would actually wait to confirm that someone is parking there for that reason before jumping to that conclusion (i.e. waiting until I’ve actually stepped out of the car). However, as I stated, his abusive comments continued, then he started to take off his jacket and other lose articles of clothing while getting up in my face, I seriously suspected that this guy was going to try and get physical with me, at which point, I decided it would be best that I leave and do my shopping at the Fresco across the street.
This was a truly unusual situation, one in which I hope that I do not find myself in again, so I will be sure to avoid this establishment in the future. I’m still contemplating filing a police complaint, based on the spitting (spitting is assault) and threatening approach, but that may be a bit petty as it could have been unintentional on his part. Plus, I don’t know what else is going on in this guy’s personal life that may have caused him to snap, but in any event, this incident is beyond bizarre. I’m still trying to figure you why this happened, I guess you can’t always figure out crazy.

The convenience store is clean and bright with plenty of things for you to pick up if needed be. But I would have to disagree with the assessment of the previous reviewer’s perception of the guy at the counter.
Last I was in the store I was simply picking up some snacks, immediately afterwards I witnessed a bizarre incident:
Basically two guys behind me wanted to buy a lighter for their smokes and the price for them was something like $ 1, (so it would come up to like $ 1.13). So when the customer was about to pay for it, he casually asked why it was $ 1.13 and not $ 1. The response from the cashier was «Are you stupid?»
The baffled customer responded «What?»; which the cashier replied” Are you stupid? Ontario has taxes of 13%. Don’t you know anything?” Shortly afterwards, the customer and the cashier had quick remarks towards each other.
I was on my way out when this happened but I found the response from the cashier quite rude even though it was not directed at me. Upon reflecting on the event I can safely say that those customers didn’t say or do anything to instigate this kind of situation. So I suppose everyone has good or bad days, but in my opinion the cashier guy inconsistently treats his customers positively.

This place is awesome for two reasons: it’s 24 hours and the guy who works the counter.
There’s been countless times I’ve directed people to this convenience store as there really is nothing else in the area. Plus thankfully it’s not another lousy 7 – 11. Its location at Queen and Gladstone makes it easy to duck out of a bar and hop across the street to get some cigarettes, use the ATM or maybe even some Combos or Doritos.
They even sell hats here, in case you want to buy some convenience store fashion accessories. They have a display case of weed utensils in case you want to pick up a bong or pipe, but more commonly things like rolling papers or pipe screens.
The dude who works there is great. I am always coming in at night to get cigarettes so I’m pretty sure he remembers me by now. He’s usually cracking jokes to keep me entertained and sometimes throws in little bonuses like knocking a dollar off my cigarettes or throwing in an extra pack of screens or papers if I am grabbing some.
247 is essentially like any other convenience store you’ve been to and it has all your needs, but the fact that it’s 24 hours and the only store in the area makes it invaluable.
