There isn’t really much to chose from in the area, so were were excited when we sa w a fish & chips place. We noticed a sign with a wing special of the day and also saw that it was senior discount day which must be a really big deal in this area because the place was full and everyone was of a much older crowd. There was one table left right by the register and seeing as how it was a very old fashioned looking place décor wise, the fact that it was full of older people added to the charm. The waitress was also older, and took her time. She didn’t act much like a waitress; more like an annoyed step-mother who casually comes out and asks you what you want for dinner and then resentfully brings it to you. This place really has no customer service, and if they do it’s reserved for the regulars. My sweetie had to have the pound of chicken wings and fries, which was fine because it was at a special price. I ordered the chicken parm and fries and my son had the surf and turf. I think they were all about $ 15 a plate. The portion size was large and the flavor was average. They brought us our drinks in the can… classy. We scarfed our food and got out of there. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t great. I would say if you are in the area, try the pub next door and keep your fingers crossed for something more than mediocre.

Way too good to be out in the boonies! I stopped in for a business lunch, on a recommendation. Located in a small mall next to Timmy’s a few miles off the 400, you would not expect to find a joint with this much game. Incidentally, this place also specializes in gluten free fare. I ordered the Land & Sea dinner, a mix of fish & chips with chicken strips for $ 15. The dish arrived screaming hot, with a cup of tarter sauce. The coating on the fish was the best I have ever had, so crisp and golden it was unbelievable. The halibut filet inside was hot, tender and moist. The chicken strips were also lightly breaded, giving them a wonderful texture, especially since the chicken was also extremely moist and tender. I had them tossed in a medium hot sauce. I wish this place was in the city, where more people can enjoy the outstanding cooking. For wings or fish & chips, take the drive to Thornton.
