Love the market. Organic meats are great. Teryaki and red neck steaks are the best. Turkey sausages. The Italian corner is homey and has home cooked food. THe florist and garden centre are great. The crafts and second hand are useful. The Reiki lady and her jewelry are lovely. The produce is fresh and staff are friendly. Let us not forget the two bakery kiosks. Excellent. The juicer is amazing. Love the carrot juice. Handy and steady. My family grew up with it.

The York Farmers’ Market is in need of a serious update, but it still has charm and I found some great stuff. It’s basically a bunch of vendors with permanent indoor stands. It’s a mix of organic and conventional food. If it were my place I would say goodbye to the vendors selling crochet wash cloths and bring in more freshly prepared food(like soups and salads) and hot drinks. Could be a great place to go for lunch and leave with groceries and snacks for the weekend. We bought bacon, sourdough bread, cinnamon buns, broccoli, dried mango, and a liter of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice from various vendors. All have been delicious and fresh.

York Farmers Market looks so out of place. I can imagine the days back in 1953 when the area is like a farmland and it does have this back in the old days vibe when I stepped inside the Market itself. York Farmers Market got extra points for being an indoor market that opens year round and from Thu to Sunday. I never get to visit any of those farmer markets that only opens Saturdays. You can find butchers, fresh vegetables, tea shops, maple syrups, cheese and baked goods. Nothing compare to St. Lawrence Market but it doesn’t have that touristy feel to it. I hope York Farmers Market will be around for another 50 years… but I won’t be surprise next time when I drive by, it will be torn down to make way for more condos…
