I joined a «Learn to Run» group here at this location. I had some expectations about what to expect for my $ 70 fee, however I have been disappointed with the programming. The people I run with are great, and the group leaders are very kind. The programming however is extremely lacking. There have been 2 guest speakers that were worthwhile, however the remainder of the«talks» have been focused on what products you can buy from the Running Room. I understand that they sell running products, and I would probably have purchased some if I didn’t feel they were being shoved down my throat. It’s actually quite bothersome, and really has taken away from the whole experience. I was expecting a better experience on really«Learning To Run» as the same of the group suggests. I have really enjoyed running with the group, and that is worth my time and money, but the programming has been severely lacking.

A quiter branch of the chain, geared more towards the sedate suburban lifestyle. This Running Room is located along a strip of stores across the street from Promenade Mall, overlooking a Wal-Mart with built-in McDonalds. It is surrounded by an All-You-Can Eat Japanese restaurant, a Marble Slab Creamery, two falafel joints and the worst bagel restaurant in the world. And you wonder why suburbanites tend to be heavier than their urban counterparts? I’ll spare you jokes about the need for stretch pants and good orthopedic shoes in this neighbourhood. The fact is that it’s a fine store. Selection is on par with other Running Room locations, and staff is super-friendly in a «please, just walk for 30 minutes a day… and maybe bring a bottle of water instead of an orange mocha frappuccino» kind of way. It’s actually kind of nice to get a break from the incessant gear-heading and hard-bodying at other running shops. Now, about those stretch pants…
