Portovino Ristorante – Terrebonne

Amazing service, food & atmosphere. Came with a group of friends and service was great. Loved my experience here at Portovino!

We used to frequent this restaurant quite a bit. However I’ve become more skeptical and less enjoying of it the last few years. The premise of the place is bring your own wine (apportez votre vin). In Quebec however restaurants do not charge the obligatory corkage fee that they do in other provinces. So Portovino jacks up their prices of their food to compensate. They do have a wide selection of pasta dishes and they are known for this but expect to pay in the $ 20 Mark for a plate of pasta that when it comes down to it is cooked dried pasta. Salads are $ 7 – 9 and the Caesar salad is reasonably good. Where it gets me is Calamari is $ 17. Can someone say gouge! They do have steaks and different cuts of meat but expect these to go from $ 30-​$ 50. In the past the pasta we would enjoy quite a bit. Then we noticed the portions got a bit smaller. On my visit I ordered a pasta vongole (not on the menu) clam sauce. They kindly did it. My wife always orders their Arribiatta. My clam sauce was bland. Extremely under flavoured. My wife claims we can do a better Arribiatta out of a bottle at home (try Rao’s bottled Arribiatta). I would kindly say service is of no issue here but they pack the tables in very tight. Let’s say sardine can jam packed tight! When these factors go in play you know a restaurant has severely jumped the shark! I came here mainly based of a family function. Otherwise I’ll avoid this overpriced mediocre pasta joint.
