I used to visit this store every week. Now i dont because their prices are atrocious! To give an example: an item was priced $ 39 and the same item in retail shop was$ 25… This store has become a ripoff;

I find this particular VV to be fairly overpriced. They do generally have a good selection but I don’t want to pay $ 17 for used jeans. Also you get a lot of sketchy looking people due to the location.

As an avid collector of cookbooks, I like to check out thrift stores in different cities when we’re on the road. This weekend we took a trip up from Bellingham to Vancouver and decided to hit a few shops along the way. Our first stop was at the Value Village in Surrey, where I hoped to score a few good books. Wow, was I shocked! They had a good selection of cookbooks(as well as the usual VV fare of books, household items, clothing, etc.) but the prices were the highest I’ve ever seen at a «thrift» store. $ 4.99 for a hardcover book? I think not! I also perused some of the clothing and the prices were no better — $ 6.99 for a short-sleeved blouse, $ 14.99 for an unlined blazer, it went on and on. I won’t be back.

Usually find good items, when you need something, you can go in & usually find it. Experienced their policy today. Went in with the intention of finding a coat for my daughter, and found one instantly, priced at 3.99. When it came time to pay, the cashier questioned it and showed her manager, and the manager came back at 6.99. She said it was priced wrong and they reserve the right to change prices at any time. I know it’s only 3.00 dollars difference, but it’s the principal of it. Why have price tags on the items? what stops them from deciding that today is the day I am going to increase an item? I asked if I could get it at 3.99 and she said :“not today” and walked away. I asked the cashier why she questioned it? she said it was priced too low. So be careful, it may look like a bargain, or a deal or a steal, but they reserve the right to change the price because they can! Disgraceful that they have no integrity!

For the longest time this location was my personal favorite for selection and price. However their pricing structure has gone ridiculously way up(eg a t-shirt is now $ 4.99, Levis or any big name brand starts at $ 15. wtf?) in the last 3 years. And hence, I only make it out there in a blue moon. As far as clothing selection is concerned, it’s pretty big but not too many one of kind things seem to show up anymore. Sometimes you get lucky with the rare vintage deal or you just walk out empty handed. Though there’s always guaranteed to be at least 2 or more Vancouver Grizzlies emblazoned shirts or jackets on any given day. The records selection is pretty standard — the usual religious records you’d find at every other VV like, Nana Mouskiri, Glen Campbell, yacht rock, etc The knick-nacks rack is never in short supply if you need some wall or mantel space filler. Bring some hand sanitizer and happy hunting!

I have been shopping VV Boutique for decades…(shhh). You walk in, and smell the familiar musty scent in the air. Other peoples goodies! I only shop there when: 1. I have tons of time(you must look through everything to find the perfect deal). 2. You do need a bit of money(the prices have gone up, but if you follow rule 1, you can find exceptional deals). It is really like a treasure hunt for shoppers.
