Our family has been ordering from this place regularly for awhile. I like it because of the black rice option, but other than that it’s just your regular sushi place. The reason I’m giving it one star is because I am SO upset with their service level. We ordered $ 140 of take-​out sushi for a family get together; we even left a generous tip even though we were picking it up. When we got home, we were missing $ 25 of the order. When we called, hoping they could get the missing orders ready for us to come back and pick up, they accused us of lying and refused to give us the missing items that we had already paid for! We assured them we didn’t have it, but they refused to even listen to us. We told them we were regular customers and will never come back again. Did they care? Nope. So basically they ripped us off and refused to give us the food. Awesome. Just awesome. Needless to say, I’m flabbergasted.

This is a busy joint but they are on the ball with it! Generally fast but not rushed service. Good menu selection, brown and black (purple) rice available, and gluten sensitive friendly. A lil on the pricey side but good, consistant service.

This is by far my favourite sushi place in Surrey, I was recommended to go here by a coworker and was so happy to come across this place. The sashimi was so fresh and is fresh tasting every time I go.

A strip mall sushi place? Yeah guess what, they aren’t your typical sushi spot. I ordered an appetizer tempura and the lion dance roll. Take a look at the picture. This roll is not only filling but beautifully put together. The almost crab and the roll is bordered with delicious sauces. Yes it’s supposed to be a three pepper hot roll so I did «pussy» out and ask for it to be tamed down. I’m happy I did. I loved the freshness and the combination of flavours. It was on special and priced at $ 8.99. What a great deal. I’m glad this truly authentic and friendly place is here. They are very courteous and professional. Tea is free and so are the smiles. Thank you.

We have been here a handful of times. Food and service are good. There are probably many fantastic sushi restaurants throughout the lower mainland, While I might not rate this restaurant as fantastic, the various foods have been consistently tasty. Worth a try if you haven’t been here before.

Amazing!
I still can’t get over how much salmon was stuffed into my temaki! It was DELICIOUS. Our order was quick, correct, reasonably priced, and tasted fantastic.

This was our first time at Umami Sushi, and we are big fans right off the bat!
Everything was delicious, from the first bite to the last bite. I read good reviews about it but you never really know what you might get — I can’t wait to go back!
Our order:
— vegetable sunomono
— ebi sunomono
— appetizer tempura
— appetizer sashimi
— pillow roll (on special!)
— Mexican roll
— negitoro roll
— large Asahi
— small Sapporo
Our sashimi order was forgotten, but we were so full from the rest of our meal that we didn’t miss it. It was kindly and easily removed from our bill.
As I said, everything was delicious. I really loved the pillow roll and the Mexican roll — but I’m excited to try different options!

Umami is one of my favourite sushi places in the Surrey/​Cloverdale/​Langley area. The food is always super delicious and is reasonably priced.
My friends and I got a party tray and split the cost between the 6 of us. All of our bills came out to roughly $ 10 with the tray and a roll on the side.
Only criticism is that the servers sometimes come off annoyed when you ask for more water or tea. Other then that, LOVE UMAMI.

One of the best in Cloverdale. Staff are friendly, the food is always good, the restaurant is well cared for and clean. They are usually busy and lots of take out orders walking out on the weekends. Traffic in itself says a lot about this place! The spicy tuna roll is awesome just be sure to order some milk to put out the fire. Highly recommended.

Delicious and affordable sushi. This is my go to place that is close to home.
The quality of the sushi is very good and the ingredients seem fresh.
The servers at very friendly and give the vibe that they know you and remember you everytime you come in.
Umami is a good sushi place for kids. They have a kids box, that even comes with a little treat.
The rolls are generous and are not all rice. I find that ordering a special roll is enough to satisfy the appetite of this adult male. The box meals are fairly generic, we usually order a la carte.
I recommend trying Umami, its the best in the Cloverdale area for sushi.

Best Japanese in Cloverdale. Friendly staff, fresh ingredients, average prices, decent space. I usually order takeout when I eat from Umami, and they do a good job of presentation in the takeout containers, which is a nice touch.

Solid 4 stars! Went there for the first time last night and I’m glad we did. It’s wonderful to have a great sushi place so close to home. My husband ordered the Phoenix roll and I the dinner box A. We shared both. The Phoenix roll was delish. My only complaint was it fell apart when you tried to pick it up. Maybe it needed
to be wrapped a bit tighter??? Also my chicken teriyaki was a tad greasy tasting but other than that we both loved the food and the staff were super friendly and made you feel very welcome. Can’t wait to go back!

LOVE this restaurant. I keep coming back for their chopped scallop cones and sushi. The ingredients are always fresh and the pricing is fairly reasonable. This restaurant definitely does sushi justice and it is my number one spot in Surrey!

Best sushi place in Cloverdale! Good quality sushi, and genuinely friendly staff. The menu offers a ride variety options and healthier substitutions! I have been an ongoing customer here for 2 years, and their food only gets better! By far my first choice of restaurant when I’m in the area :)

This is by far my favourite Sushi place. The staff is friendly and more importantly the fish is fresh. Whenever I have family, friends, or business associates in town this is where I take them. Don’t let the name fool you; the «Stinky Roll» is one of my favourites. Order some Sockeye Sashimi and prepare to have your mind blown.

Friendly staff who always greet me kindly set the tone.
Delicious food that has never disappointed me keeps me coming back.
The portions are generous and the pricing is good. Some items are a little higher than I spend other places but when you factor in the portions it all makes sense.
If you’re in the area and craving sushi it should definitely be on your list of places to try!

I checked out the take out of a couple sushi rolls from here while in the area the other day, I was pleasantly surprised, I thought the quality was very good for this type of «fast food» style sushi place. In fact, I thought it was better than Village Sushi off of Fraser Hwy which a lot of my friends seem to like. I recommend checking out Umami.
