Theodora’s Pizza & Steak House

I’ve been eating lunch here since I started working in Port Kells 6 years ago. Its location must serve it well as there’s only a handful of restaurants in the area to choose from. Sometimes when you frequent a restaurant a lot, you tend to overlook things because the food is decent, reasonable price and the service is not bad
The décor is alright, a little dated but serves it purpose for the restaurant. Front of house staff, I have always enjoyed. Most of the time in good spirits, friendly and always accommodating but sometimes when it gets super busy and they overwhelmed, they can forget to write the little things on the ticket (Which sucks if you do take out). I think the service is the main reason I continue to frequent this restaurant, oh and the prices :)
The kitchen and the food I find is hit and miss, my experience dining in has been a lot better than my take out experience. Maybe they know you can’t readily send the food back when you take out, but it seems like they just don’t really care about the takeout orders. In the last couple months I have had NUMEROUS errors with my orders. Sometimes due to lack of info on the ticket but most of the time it’s just plain attention to detail. Incomplete dishes, missed sauces, toppings on my pizza that shouldn’t be there, making sure the order is actually complete and sometimes burnt food. I’ve experienced a lot of mistakes and frustrations on behalf of their kitchen staff. They do have the potential but the lack of attention can sometimes ruin my meal and has even prompted my company that usually bring in lunch for all of us every now and then to not want to deal with them anymore.(Which due to our lack of choices in the area, doesn’t leave us with too many other options)
Here are my tips for TAKE OUT only:
— Stick to what they excel at (Pizza, Souvlaki, Pasta or whatever they have on their lunch menu)
— Be clear if you are making any changes or special requests, REPEAT and have them read back your order. This is important if you have any food allergies!
— Avoid any lettuce salads. Unless you enjoy your salad sitting in bath of water and dressing. (Greek salad is ok)
— Double check your order before walking out the door, sometimes even the simplest order can somehow be screwed up in their kitchen. (It really blows my mind sometimes)
To sum it all up, you get what you pay for. Decent food @ a reasonable price. I will take the good with the bad with the hopes they figure it out in the kitchen. Keep it simple and you should enjoy your food :)
