My wife and I went in for lunch and were totally happy with the chips and salsa immediately after we sat down. We ordered quesadillas and a chicken burrito. Huge servings in only a few minutes. Food was great as well as the service and we will definitely be going back another day

Went to check this place out a few months ago because it had good ratings. I can vouch for those who gave 1 stars and say that they’re telling the truth. Since I’ve never been here I didn’t know whether the cashier was newly hired but she was extremely rude. Not sure if she is still working here. Was«greeted» by her and she looked like she could care less. We sat down and looked through the menu and when she came to take our orders, she would roll her eyes when we’d ask questions. The food was good but the beef steak tacos were a little dry. During our meal someone had called the restaurant to take an order and I could CLEARLY see the cashier being extremely rude. Rolling her eyes at the person she was talking to, irritated, and when she answered her tone was of disgust and her voice would increase due to her impatience. I’m craving a quesadilla but it’s not worth meeting this person again -.-

Wondering if the food is pre made? I asked for a taco salad(not sure what kind of Mexican restaurant doesn’t have one on the menu) and the waitress told me no… How hard is it to whip up a taco salad. Chicken/lettuce/cheese and salsa! And then continued to try and force burritos and fish on me! I understand that they didn’t have it. But really! Your a Mexican restaurant for god sakes! Get with it! I would give them no stars if I could

We love this place. We used to live a short walk away and would go often. Sadly we’ve moved to a different area but plan on visiting again sometime soon. The chicken qussedilla is my favourite. And their salsa is so legit

When you get a server that is extremely rude and you get over charged for your meal it doesn’t matter how good the food may be… It turns into a place you would NEVER return. When you enter, the place looks like an authentic home-style family run business. There are pinatas hanging from the ceilings and an assortment of mexican snacks and condiments for sale on the shelves surrounding you as you eat. They have tvs playing a spanish channel and the employees can be seen in and around the kitchen making you feel like you’re a visitor in someones home. Well, we must have been unwelcomed visitors. Or at least thats how we were made to feel. The reviews of many other Unilocalers are not a lie. We were greeted with nothing but dirty looks, snide remarks and a dismissive attitude by the lady that«helped» us with our orders. She seemed appalled at how many items we wanted to order. Like, almost disgusted. Our meals came and they were decent at most. I asked the server which steak meal she would recommend and she said the mexican steak was her favorite so i gave it a try. The steak was in a tomato sauce and it was tasty but dry. The refried beans that accompanied it was bland. The rice tasted as it should. My friend ordered enchiladas, tamales and steak tacos. We agreed that everything tasted decent but nothing special. I asked our server for a water refill a few times and she never came back. When it came time to pay i noticed she charged me 2 dollars above the price of all steak meals on the menu. I asked her to show me on the menu which meal i ordered and she said it didnt matter and that all steak meals were the same price, that she was not sure why and that it is up to her boss to make the charges and not her fault. I didnt bother arguing with her and paid the extra. I paid through debit and had no choice but to tip the minimum 15% option on top of the 2 dollars she already over charged me. If you decide to go here be sure to ask them how much your meal costs because apparently once you get to the register, the price changes. Its a pity because sometimes i really want an authentic taco, some spanish rice & beans, or a sip of horchata… but even if this was the last mexican restaurant on earth not even my biggest cravings could get me to return.

I came here 1 month ago for the first-time. I ordered the burrito togo. The Casher was not friendly at all. When I ask her what’s the difference between red sauce and green sauce. She rolled her eyes and said«geen tomatoes and red tomatoes». Ok, that was VERYHELPFUL… I saw some photo on the review that had half green sause and half red sauce. I couldn’t decide which sauce to get, so I asked could I get half green sauce and half red sauce. She rolled her eyes again… When I ate it at home, nothing special not even taste good. The sauce taste like just poured out from the can.

After reading the main reviews for this place on Unilocal,my wife and I decided to check it out. We quickly came to the realization that all these people on here who are rating at 4 and 5 stars are either friends or family or something. Our first impression was that the place was very small with only 4 tables and a bunch of random Mexican items seemingly for sale on shelves around us. Then we noticed the bullet holes in the front windows, covered with clear tape, so to not block any precious sunlight, but still keep all the stale, greasy air in. We sat at the front table and a few minutes later our server showed up. She was not just cold or impolite, she was rude. She literally tossed a couple menus at the edge of our table and walked off without saying hello or anything. When she came back to take our order, she was impatient and cold. The food only took about 5 minutes to plate up and when she brought our plates, she just kind of touched them on the corner of the table and slid them at us without a word and then left again. It was as though she couldn’t be bothered to waste her time on actually serving us. I don’t think any seasonings or even salt was used in making any of that food. The sauce on my enchiladas was simply tomato sauce right out of a can. And I don’t mean a canned enchilada sauce made from tomatoes — I mean tomato sauce. Everything was bland and heartless like that. The chicken inside the enchiladas was nothing but some thigh meat that had been either steamed or boiled and then dumped onto a corn tortilla and rolled just well enough to have a lazy glop of canned, room-temp tomato sauce spilled on it. The prices were a bit high for the portion size — IF it was good food — but it was not. The only reason we ate the food at all was because we had been starving for too long before we got there so we ate most of it anyway — with copious amounts of salsa on everything. The server never returned. So I went up to the counter by the kitchen to find her just standing there playing with her phone. She looked up and saw me and then rolled her eyes and approached the counter but didn’t say anything. I simply told her«I think we’re done.» She didn’t say anything but she leaned over to glare at my wife at the table, let out a huge sigh, and then start clicking register keys. Then, again without a word, she grabs the credit card machine and sticks it out at me without mention of the total or asking how I’ll pay or anything. I used my card and whatdyaknow — There was NOOPTION for no tip. Only 15% and up. This is the WORST so-called Mexican food I’ve ever had and the service was on the same par. We got home before the stomach aches set in, but that was outweighed by our disappointment. Please don’t go here. It’s absolutely awful on every level.

Our server was having a rough day, but with this being my only visit, I can’t say that’s normal. The meal was tasty(four tacos, carnitas and pastor), with a fair size portion for the price. The atmosphere was pleasant, with some Mexican flair, but the TV was too loud(there was a soccer game on). I’ll go back, if I’m in the area, but I wouldn’t make a special trip.

Came here with a group. The food was rather average, although the same cannot be said about the portions– the burritos are gigantic. We ordered the burritos, chicken and beef nachos, tacos, tortas, and mexican coke. Fillings were pretty standard; rice, beans, meat. The taste was average, nothing extraordinary. My friends got the tacos and tortas while we shared the nachos. The taqueria is run by a Mexican family, so the food is actually quite authentic, for instance, they use corn tortillas for their tacos. The size of the tacos are tiny, compared to the americanized version, so be ready to order several. The nachos were okay, lots of meat, cheese, and beans– my only gripe about this is that the nachos were slightly too hard. Even though the menu says Mexican coke, the taste doesn’t differ from ‘normal coke’ so don’t expect anything different– get the Sangria. Very friendly owners, great place to practice your Spanish. I would give it an extra star if the prices were lower, since I think that they’re relatively pricey.

Was happy to find a genuine Mexican Taqueria near my new place. The service was friendly, quick and accommodating. They have no kids menu, but my son was happy with his simple made to order taco(just steak) and a side of rice. More than reasonable prices. I had a beef burrito in red and green sauces(ask them to make it half and half if you’re not sure– I prefer the green as it’s unusually tangy and a bit sour). The best surprise was a mini corner in the shop selling imported Mexican sauces and other cooking ingredients. I can stock my pantry with mole sauce. Joy!

They’ve stepped up their game. We decided to go to Taqueria because everyone at the office felt like getting Mexican. they were super busy with 1 waitress. My colleagues noticed that their quesadillas had little to no meat. My burrito was okay, and nothing special. Sal y limon is probably the best Mexican joint in Metro Vancouver.

I just found this hidden gem. The food here is really good. The tacos are great. The staff are extremely nice. The only reason I didn’t give them a 5 star is because they only give 1 lime with our whole meal.. Which included 8 tacos lol

Crazy good authentic Mexican food in probably the worst part of Surrey. The place looks like a convenience store(they do sell Mexican groceries!), yet has this very homey and welcoming feeling. It was obviously a family business, an impressive one at that. Service here is quick, while they only had one waitress the place isn’t too big so they were very attentive. Did I mention how rad the food here is? It is straight up authentic. The ingredients used were fresh and the burrito I ate was on the spot. Check it out if you’re into Mexican cuisine.

So, moving here from San Diego 3 years ago has left me with a sadness of having no good, authentic Mexican food. Then, by accident and a bit of bravery(we are in Walley after all) I found and tried Taqueria Jalisco. Amazing! This is the real deal! Really enjoyed my first meal and can’t wait to try the huevos rancheros!

I really wanted to like this place, however, it’s not the best Mexican that I’ve had. Given the hood, it’s the best as it will get. One of the«salsas» for the chips I swear was ketchup with salsa. There was more sauce than chips for starters. My nachos were okay, nothing to write home about. The meals came out in a timely manner and the prices were fair but I wouldn’t go as far as calling it really good. I like the other semi regular place down in New West better. Service was good even though the waitress was confused as to why I didn’t want any cheese on my nachos. They did sub for guacamole at no cost. The place has pinatas and some limited amounts of traditional Mexican candy for purchase.

Surprised when talking about dinner options for our anniversary, wife had a sudden craving for Mexican. Which is odd because we’ve never known a good Mexican place unless we’re in Washington, though I know there are highly rated places on Commercial. Unilocal to the rescue! This is a total hole in the wall in the worst part of Surrey that I never knew existed. As mentioned elsewhere, It appears to be run by a Mexican mom with daughter serving. I couldn’t confirm this because she wasn’t entirely welcoming or warm to us and offered no chance for conversation. This alone would be a loss of a star. However, the food was basic and honest. No frills or frou-frou and very enjoyable. We ordered a beef burrito each, one verde, one rojo, and one dry. Also a chorizo taco. I thought my rojo could have used a bit more seasoning inside and have some heat to it. But I guess they need to cater to all palates here and our daughter didn’t complain about spicy heat. I fixed that by using the hot salsa left over from the chips and salsa brought out after we ordered. Not nearly enough chips for 3 people but enough mild and hot salsa for almost 6. I only got 4 chips, myself. The remainder worked great on my burrito, so no big deal. We’ll definitely return again to try something new next time. It sucks that cheese is so expensive in BC. At a restaurant in Kent, Wa that we tried, there was easily 4 times the cheese on a similar burrito for the same cost. That would be my only complaint about the food itself. Definitely worth a try if you can get over the poor location.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yessssss. This place is a ten minute walk from my place and serves beyond incredible food. Don’t let the neighborhood fool you! It appears to be a family operation: mum cooking and daughter serving. The food is authentic, tasty, excellent value for the price. The service is pleasant, kind, quick. I had carne asada. Kyle had a beef burrito. Both were stellar. I drank Mexican coca cola and Kyle had horchata. You get fresh tortilla chips, salsa, and some kind of spicy tamale sauce to start, on the house. They also have a small selection of Mexican groceries. We will absolutely be back! I only wish we had found it sooner!!!

Authentic? Oh ya, you betcha! It really transported me back to Mexico as I sat there eating 5 tacos($ 2 each). And they had Mexican coke, which cannot be found easily in Vancouver. They sell various Mexican goods like the Picante sauce with the fisherman on the label, which is very good with shrimps. Or King Carlos chocolate… Chipotle… Ahhhh… Other dishes are good too! My boyfriend had the steak and rice that came with guacamole, beans, and wraps. It’s a very thin piece of meat, so it did cook beyond medium rare, but still no complaints! The complementary salsa and chips were spot on; I used the sauces for my tacos which became better than before. Will I come back? Ohhhh yeaaaah!!!
