If you’re looking for a safe go to, this place should be on the top of your list! Customer service: 4/5, we got greeted almost immediately and then were prompted to seat ourselves anywhere we would like. We chose the booths and then our server came to our table shortly after. The staff is knowledgable and always on point with letting us know what’s on special. They also check back every once in a while to make sure everything is okay and to refill water. Only thing that prevents me from giving them a 5 is the fact that I’ve consistently noticed a lack of engagement to ask how our day/night has been or what we’re up to. It’s very«what can we get for you» and all that, which is great!, but keep that in mind in case you’re the talkative type who likes to hold conversations. Food: 4/5, for appetizers, we ordered the flatbread, plus soup and salad(soup is absolutely amazing). For the main, we ordered the Spicy Thai and asked them to substitute the chicken with mushrooms. Dessert was the Nutella Pizza, plus bananas. Overall, yummy and great! We ended up packing up some of the pizza and the dessert as leftovers. Ambiance: 4/5, it’s sort of an old school sports bar set up, but because of the booths it looks fancier? Two televisions, both playing sports, and there’s a higher bar table setting in the middle of the restaurant. The restaurant could probably seat 30 – 40 easily? Overall, good experience :)

Simply love Famoso, this is Italian pizza in South Surrey. The service has been consistently excellent, always so personal and sincere. We usually pick this place when we go out for lunch and we were blown away with speed of service. We’ve been going there a while and it’s gotten really fast and efficient. The pizza is the same, every time. It’s amazing! Love the thin, hand tossed crust. The variety and quality of toppings makes this truly unique pizza. Tried the Spicy Thai for the first time, and it was delicious, perfect amount of heat from the peanut sauce, definitely a must try for any thai food lover. My usual favourite is Margherita with cooked anchovies. Simple and delicious. My husband always has a selection with the Italian sausage and raves about it. Leave room for a caramel affogato. Perfect Gelato paired with espresso.

The restaurant is now full service which is nice because the way they had it set up used to be pretty confusing. I tried their mimosa trios and it wasn’t as good as I hoped still an excellent restaurant.

My pizza was good, my husband’s was not-burnt Kale… My son who only had pasta no sauce– was 7.00. I feel upset I wasn’t told that a side of pasta without sauce would be the same price as the child meal(gelato plus drink). I won’t be back considering I ordered a side not the child meal and my husband’s pizza was quite late(as they forgot ham).

Have been to this famoso so many times and always love it but today was especially awesome! Our server, Kelsey, made fantastic recommendations and was so lovely! She answered all of our questions and even gave my Aunt free dessert(my Aunt was visiting from Germany so it was a sort of happy travels dessert). Every time we come we enjoy the food! It really is so yummy! And the tiramisu and pannacotta were both fantastic(and come in jars – so cute) We highly recommend this place! Thanks for being the best server ever, Kelsey! You made us all, especially my aunt, smile so much!!!

Usually a good spot for a pizza, either for a family evening or a date. The chain is one of my favourites. I hadn’t been back for several months and was surprised how the food has deteriorated. The service is still vibrant and bouncy but the pizza was bland, not bad but not what I’m used to at Famoso. Hopefully it was just a bad night in the kitchen but I won’t be eager to return.

Had the Korean BBQ Pork pizza and thought it was fabulous! Only recommendation would be to have the crust a bit more crispy but that is more on how long it sits in the oven for. The taste was so good that I would want to order it again. BUT, next time, I will try something different. Decently priced too.

We are quite regular visitors to the place. I especially like the white pizza with nuts and honey. We no longer eat American-style pizza anymore.

I frequent the Famoso restaurants in Edmonton and it is my favourite pizza joint. Thought I’d stop in for a late lunch at the Whiterock location, what a poor idea! The pizza(Quattro Framaggio) was burn and super greasy. I love greasy pizza, but this was excessive. It was slimy & soggy. I wanted my order to go and they said 20 minutes. This is much longer than their Edmonton counterparts take. The restaurant had piles of dirty dishes all over the counters and there weren’t that many people there. I won’t be returning. Should’ve looked at other reviews before I bothered.

So I read quite a few reviews before coming here and really didn’t know what to expect… Although the pizzas(Capricciosa & Funghi) did taste good they did indeed get soggy. They last about 5 minutes before the middle half gets sloppy. The tomato sauce on the Capricciosa was also a bit watery and I felt could have used more flavour. I have to give props to the service though. The waitress was attentive and checked up on us regularly. The manager also took care of one of the pizzas and gave us a gift certificate for next time. As for the ambiance, it’s a pretty nice pizza spot with a nice patio. I would visit again but I will be sure to make smarter choices next time.

This was our first visit, and we were very pleased and impressed. The wait staff was very attentive when we arrived, and the aromas coming from the pizza oven were splendid. We were seated promptly and the table and settings were clean and neat. Drinks were attended to promptly. Famoso has a broad selection of brews which are a perfect accompaniment for pizza. Our table shared two of the large Caprese salads — fresh mozzarella and nice ripe tomatoes with fresh basil and a light balsamic dressing. We ordered 4 different pizzas — 3 traditional: Margherita, Capricciosa, Vesuvio, and one«new world» pizza: Korean BBQ pork. All were delightful. The crusts were very authentic Neopolitan crusts – blistered, with tiny, flavorful, charcoal-y burned spots, known as «leopard spotting,» and a rim crust(cornicione) that is oh, soooo soft, chewy and delicious! You will not likely leave any crusts behind! The Margherita was classic, with an unobtrusive sauce of crushed San Marzano tomatoes, topped with light mozzarella and basil leaves. The vegetables on the Capricciosa were fresh and numerous. The soppressata on the Vesuvio was plentiful, but not overpowering. My father-in-law, who is Korean, loved the Korean pork BBQ pizza with nice small pieces of pulled pork with a Korean style BBQ glaze. Lastly, one of the group had a Paesano sandwich — pulled pork with a house-made salsa verde, provolone cheese and arugula. It disappeared in a hurry! The pizzas are about 11″ and perfect for one hungry person, along with an appetizer or a salad. The sandwich was accompanied by a salad, but for a hungry diner, it was unfulfilling. It should have been 50% larger to satisfy an evening meal appetite. Prices are very reasonable all around. Bottom line is that we love this establishment, a real gem in terms of authentic perfectly baked, Neopolitan crust pizza. Recommended without hesitation!

Such a cute location with awesome staff. I have been here numerous times with friends and family and will continue doing so. For an appetizer the polpette al forno is really good. The pork meatballs are moist and although its a small portion, my boyfriend and I always split it. My favourite pizza is the don andreas — I am obsessed! And the hot sauce that they bring on the side really compliments the pizza. The vodka italian soda’s from the bar are tasty but not overpowering. The trimoso is a cute little sampler which includes 3 different types of mimosas. Overall excellent place to go for birthdays, girls nights, date nights… you name it.

Delicious! And super kid friendly! I love this place and can’t wait to go back. When we arrived they gave my 2 ½ year old son a piece of pizza dough to play with! Brilliant! No more eating the crayons. We ordered the Capricosa(spelling?) and BBQ Chicken pizzas and a salad(The name of which has escaped me now.). I would definitely order the Capricosa again! We’ll be back for sure!

I had purchased a groupon deal for Famoso Neopolitan Pizzeria, and finally decided to use it last night. We didn’t make any reservation, we walked and it was busy! It was a 30 – 35 mins wait for the 2 of us, and surely enough within that time frame we got a table which was nice. We had the prosciutto and arugula pizza and the funghi, it was delicious! They funghi pizza could of used a bit more mushrooms and the prosciutto pizza need a bit more sauce, otherwise the flavors and textures were there. Our waiter Jesse was awesome, he felt that our pizza took a little longer than usual and offered us a dessert of our choice on the house! I thought that was great customer service, my sister and I were just enjoying each other company so we didn’t feel like it was long at all. We ended up with the tiramisu and it was DELICIOUS, it was super creamy but not overly heavy, the lady fingers were lightly dipped in espresso, not drench and soggy. Overall we had a great experience and we will be back again if were in the area or heading down towards the states!

Had a great time here. Great ambience, music was good, had my favorite pizza the Capriciosa. Was there with two girlfriends for lunch on a Sunday after church and was not rushed out. I could barely finish the pizza.

I am still a fan of their pizza, especially their Capricciosa. Their korean bbq pizza is really quite tasty as well. It has a sweeter taste because of the hoisin sauce. Our other faves are Siciliian which is their version of meat lover and Vesuvio. They have changed their ordering system. Now they offer full service so instead of having to write down your order and submitting it at the bar, now they take your orders. And their crust has gotten better too. It’s more crispy on the bottom. The crust is still light, nann like texture. Even though I ate a whole pizzatte myself, it doesn’t feel too heavy like some of the other pizzas at other places. So glad to have this place in our hood.

We were intrigued to try this restaurant the moment it opened up in out area. Me being somewhat of a pizza snob(as my significant puts it) and my wife loving anything with cheese. Well, we really didn’t stand a chance. The structure of this restaurant is a little unorthodox. 95% of restaurants are to a point full serve. At Famosa you are provided full service at the beginning of your experience and at the end. The middle is all you. I do not know if this is a turn off for some people or not but my wife and I did not mind it one bit. They provide you with an ordering pad and pencil. They ask you to fill in your order and deliver the slip to the front counter. From then on full service is provided as it would at any other restaurant. Food Selection 5⁄5 We found their menu to be sufficiently packed with options in all categories(appies, drinks, traditional style pizzas and Famosa creations). If you are not happy with the selections they provide you can most certainly add/remove toppings to any pizza or simply create your own. Food Quality 5⁄5 Their pies may not be what the average North American is expecting. They bake 11″ Neapolitan style pizzas. As far as I can tell Famosa is baking their pizzas traditionally. The crust is very thin, chewy, soft and delicious! Every pizza is baked for only 90 seconds in a 900 degree oven! It’s truly impressive! Service 5⁄5 Top notch! We were greeted by the owner as we walked in. He’s a very nice and pleasant fellow. I felt a little under dressed because we had just finished chopping down a tree for Christmas and we did not have time to go home first. So, basically a *hangry bearded lumberjack with nothing but food on his mind. The owner vary graciously welcomed us and our server seated us right away. Maria was exceptional. She has a great attitude, she was helpful and she knew the menu forwards and backwards. Maria really left us with a great first impression of Famosa. Atmosphere 5⁄5 We have eaten at some interesting pizza restaurants in New York and Portland. Not to say that it felt like we were momentarily transported out of town, but the layout and creativity of Famosa is very charming and appropriately designed. *hangry — It’s a state of hunger that has reached such a point to cause an irritable, short tempered, almost angry frame of mind. If not remedied immediately, this unpredictable individual will spoil moods and ruin first impressions(See snickers commercials for more clarity).

I’m not sure what everyone else’s problem is. This place is excellent. We stopped after waiting at the border to cross into Canada and I recommend you do too. They had an excellent menu, very vegetarian friendly. The Cavoletti was truly unique — white pizza with shaved Brussel sprouts, dates, walnuts and honey. It was delicious. All their food was excellent, including the affogato(gelato with espresso) we had for dessert. They had a strange system for ordering, but it did not detract from the experience.

I’d given these guys 4 stars if it wasn’t for the slow service! We went recently for my daughter’s bday. Service to explain how the system worked was good(you have to fill in your order on a piece of paper and bring it up to the counter). Getting the drink order was rather slow but the pizza order was really slow. But the pizzas did taste fresh and were pretty good. I brought in an ice cream cake for dessert as a surprise for my daughter. Well that took about 15 min min for them to figure out where it was, etc. My daughter got the cake with candles but it was like a rock because it wasn’t taken out earlier so back to the kitchen it went for them to cut it. Well, that must have taken another 10 – 15 min before it was returned to us and I served on plates. I should mention that clearing the dirty plates also took a while. What’s really the issue here? The service! It needs to be cleaned up or this place may go downhill.

First and last time visit. Have eaten many Neapolitan pizzas around the world and this unfortunately was the worst. Pizza was doughy and soggy. You have to get up to place your order which gave the feeling of a fast food restaurant. Two of the four pizzas showed 10 mins before the other two. We let the server know that we felt the pizza was undercooked and soggy. A young manager came over to ask about our issue and said they would re cook our pizzas. We did receive new pizzas that were better but honestly average at best !! No follow up visit from manager to see if our new pizzas were better? I am sure they will figure out the service as this is newly opened but with non manager customer interaction this place will eventually be taken over by another Phở or Thai or ??? Can’t wait until the Shanty(Vij’s) next door opens !! Lots of servers running confused bringing wrong items to wrong tables. No customer interaction. Also agree with the other post regarding tables and seating
