I custom ordered a gown from them at the shop and have been waiting for 2 months to hear back from them and see samples of the stitching. They are nice and I’m sure have many customers which is why they’re a little slow.

I always shop at crossover but my last experience with them change my mind for ever I bought a Beautiful Saaree for Valentine Dinner but had too much starched and i was told By Rani that if i put it in water the starch will go away and it will be comfortable to wear but instead whole saree colour faded & got spoiled and i cound’nt wear it for Valentine dinner. I went to the shop 4 times in last 4 month but they ignore my complain i never ask for refund but still never reply my phone calls or my email and always gave a excuse that the owner/Manger Rani is busy or out of town. I was very disappointed with there service. Ther staff is not effecint enought to deal with stiuation like this. They just want to make a sale but never think of a returned customer well they lost a valued customer as last week i was thinking to buy a saree for my Nephew wedding and my husband gave me $ 2000 to spent. They will never get any of my business for sure and i will put this on facebook and will tell all my family and friends about it too. Shabana Ali

First, I’d like to clarify that I’d give this place 3.5 stars, given that it’s slightly better than A-OK, but I couldn’t truly say I’m a huge fan. We’ll start with the positives. This is one of the few stores in B.C. that carries select designer indian clothing pieces, and they have an exclusive contract with Neeta Lulla, so they typically will have at least a few of her lehengas in stock(ranging from generic heavy Christmas tree-type bridal lehengas to more interesting pieces). They’ve also carried Manish Malhotra in the past and a few other Mumbai designers. Their stock overall is far more tasteful and interesting than you’ll get in your typical indian clothing store in the Lower mainland, with the important exception of Raj collection in Burnaby(see my review of that fantastic store) and Armaan in Surrey, and possibly Well groomed in Surrey(I’m still undecided on Well groomed… but I digress). They also carry several bridal pieces at any time and offer a custom order service. Their selection of jewelry ranges from generic, tacky coloured bangles to more refined pieces of beautiful kundan sets. Their location is not great for Vancouverites but is convenient for those from Surrey, being right in the centre of the busy indian shopping area«Payal Business Centre» in Surrey. I’ve been going to the place on-and-off for many years and while their service is generally attentive, all of the saleswomen who work there are a little standoffish and definitely not warm. Good social skills are important for salespeople, so I’m not sure what the issue is. I noticed they have very few Punjabi-speaking saleswomen(English and Hindi predominating), which makes utterly no sense in a Punjabi-dominated suburb like Surrey. It makes one wonder if they think that they’re just a little better than everyone else??? Hmmm. I sure hope not. They need to work on this issue a little bit. A bigger problem are their prices. Now, all of us are aware of the fact that some pieces are designer thus expensive to begin with and that Crossover are going to mark up the items so they can make as much as possible off of them. It’s not rocket science. Given the fact that I’ve lived in Vancouver for years, frequent the indian clothing stores, have an interest in Indian designer clothes and have bought some myself, I am quite aware of how much indian designers charge. However, I still feel that Crossover overcharges their customers and even worse, they are not willing to barter very much at all. That does not go down well with Indian folks, and may contribute to their slightly pompous attitude. It’s hard to cough up $ 4000 for a barely-embroidered Neeta Lulla lehenga when Raj collection is selling you a heavy Neeta lehenga for $ 600. So Crossover, if you’re reading this, get it together! I notice that Raj collection is attracting a lot of the Ismaili crowd who Crossover probably also depend on, and everyone wants a good deal at the end of the day… there’s no loyalty when it comes to money! At any rate, I’m glad they’re around since they’re one of the few places locally that a girl can buy some tasteful garments for an important function, but a visit to their store is not a pleasant as it could be service-wise and the dreaded rip-off at the end is always an unhappy ending for the customer.
