Bubble 88

We started coming here and you just need to know what you like and stick with it. Because it can be a hit or miss if you want to try new dishes which I did. I didn’t like the peppercorn sauce. Too overpowering. But other side dishes are nice and portion is reasonable. If you need some Taiwan. comfort food I recommend this place.

Bubble 88 is a place for all late nite people for sure but a family place to go anytime Its a tea lovers place as u can enjoy cold n hot teas n shakes. I love TARO wid milk as i m a dairy lover. If anyone is in rush, dont forget to grab a bowl of rice wid eggs n meat lunch dish wid an economical value of $ 6
Clean n fast service is their speciality. Only thing i wuld like them to improve is keep debit n credit machine as people dont carry cash.

I so wanted this place to be good. As a fellow taiwanese, I am always happy to see new taiwanese digs. Bubble 88 had potential and authenticity but still a long way to go. food was mediocre at best. Service was what I had the most problem with. Went on a weekday night. Store was less than half full but the servers were inexperienced and unorganized. A vegetarian friend had the very upsetting experience of chewing on a piece of chicken in her supposedly vegetarian dish. The server did apologize and offered a free drink but the dinner was pretty much ruined for my friend. In the end, the server forgot about their offer and charged my friend for her drink/​shaved ice dessert. A server did remember the offer and offered to reimburse us as we were walking out the store. As we weren’t gonna go back again, we just declined the offer and left. Hope to hear and read improving reviews before considering going back. Good luck Bubble 88.

Came here late night for bubble tea with a friend. I custom ordered a mango/​matcha smoothie with pearls served separately the side. Was pretty funny to receive the comment, «uhh, we can’t guarantee the taste of this…» since my order wasn’t on the menu.
The drink came all as one so they got the order wrong. That aside, it turned out to be a pretty darn good mix of flavours!
Overall, would be back to hang out or grab a bubble tea. Will probably try food too.

I do not live in Surrey, but I like to drive all the way to Bubble 88 because it is my favourite Bubble Tea restaurant ever.
Their popcorn chicken is just so good and I love to get it with the Yellow Curry. Plus every time you order an entrée you get three really weird side dishes that are an adventure all on their own. I love to explore new foods :) hehe
The only reason I am not giving them ⁵⁄₅ stars is because they are cash only. My stupid son is a bit of a pick pocket and there has been so many times when I think I’ve got a $ 20 on me and it turns out he has helped himself to my cash. I have told him countless times that he needs to ask me for money and not just help himself to it whenever he wants, but it doesn’t seem to be getting through to him. I think the only thing he cares about is Norwegian Death Metal and where he can find a f*cking bullet belt. I just do not understand Metal culture and I really wish he would start coming to church with me again. Maybe it’s time to move out of Coquitlam? There seems to be an exorbitant amount of Metal Heads in this city.
Anyway, if Bubble 88 could get a debit machine they would definitely get a ⁵⁄₅ star rating from me! YUM YUM.

Cash only, huge portions!
Came here for lunch on a Saturday. No wait.
Had the braised pork and tomato soup, I was hoping the soup would be tomato-​y but they just put a tomato in my bowl, that’s okay too.
A lot of meat, was surprised for a 9 dollar lunch entrée. Everything on the table looked good, the hot pot takes a bit longer to come out than the rest!
Small plates and appetizers are fun to share too!

Large portions. Open late. Cash only.
Customer service not consistent as all depends on server’s ability to speak in english for those who are dont speak other language.

This place is okay. I still prefer Pearl Castle and Bubble World for food. I haven’t tried their drinks though. The food is cheaper, and I find the portions to be larger.
However, I have to say the service at Bubble 88 is really impressive. The waiter was really patient and polite! They also serve you hot tea without you having to order it (unlike Pearl Castle and BW.)
It’s right beside Surrey Central, so this would be great place to hang/​relax after classes if you go to SFU.
