Laughably bad management! My family and I are regular patrons of Big Ridge and while we have always enjoyed the food and beer and typically have good servers, the management is non-existent to ambivalent to their service failures. They clearly, severely overbook large parties on weekends and when faced with walk-ins that are willing to wait the quoted 30 – 45 minutes they panic and do nothing to mitigate the line up. We watched and waited for over an hour while virtually half the restaurant sat empty for bookings that only partially came in the time we were there. The entire back of the restaurant sat empty the lenght of our service. By now they should know that families with little kids don’t linger, we eat and get out, arriving at 530pm you can totally flip that table for your 7pm reservation. While I cannot fault the pleasant greeters, the visible managers seem more focused on the televised games then managing the flow of service. It was head shaking bad how little effort the one manager seen did to manage his team. I took the time to write a balanced feedback to the GM which went ignored.

A friend and me got there really late and the kitchen staff actually stayed longer to make us food. We were attended to fairly frequently and I really appreciate the work they put into making their environment comfortable.

nice atmosphere, ok-good food quality, kind staffs. we were a group of 6, the booth we sat in was the perfect size. overall 4 stars, just because of the waitress checked on us way way too often during the meal. i like the see-through kitchen idea by the washroom, i would revisit the place.

Been to Big Ridge several times, yesterday Went with family of nine. We had a reservation and were placed at a large round table at the entrance. We asked to move to other table in the corner, but was told it too was reserved. After a noisy frustrating Meal, we left. The table in the corner never was used. Food has also gone up in price, and was not that good. They obviously Are trying to cut costs, Chow mein I ordered no longer comes with cashews.

It isn’t a bad pub, and it’s certainly one of the better craft breweries in Surrey, it’s just entirely forgettable. The beers are alright, but nothing more captivating than the other hundred micro brewed brews out there. I remember reading each description and having limited interest for every beer. Food is pub food, nothing special, and nothing vegan. I wish they put their heads together to come up with something captivating, original or engaging, either food or beer. Because right now, you might as well try it once and move along.

Best place around. Been going regularly since the old location. Our kids LOVE it. The food is always good and we order 2 of the squid when we’re seated, right out of the gate. I’m not sure what’s up with these other reviews. Must be ppl who like mainstream chain restaurant fare. It’s so good… for what it’s worth, we really enjoy it!

We went mid-week, mid-afternoon for a late lunch. Started with the lightly ale-tempura battered Fried Pickles… they were excellent– even better than the Bistro in Garrison Crossing… I did the beer Sampler… all were very good. My wife had the Backyard Burger with added bacon & cheddar… It was a 4.5÷5 burger($ 15)… I waded through the very messy Vegetarian Black Bean Chili Burger($ 13)… It a’int a burger… More like a Sloppy Joe. Tasted OK, but probably won’t order it again… Should have gone with the Baked Meatloaf! Service was excellent! Sept2015

The bathrooms are being renovated we were told tonight«for another week». So we were all funnelled into the bar to use the unisex single bathroom. No kidding… in a place that sells craft beer. No warning before you ordered or signs up explaining that you would be forced to stand in a line 7 to 9 deep to use the bathroom. They should have made the unisex bathroom for women only and put a couple of porta-pottys in the parking lot for the men. I would have been fine with that. The food was ok and the service was great. Poor decision on how to treat your customers.

This is a nice brewpub with a full bar too. The décor is modern-meets-leather with a restaurant on one side and a large bar(with pool table) on the other. The service is friendly and prompt, and the beers are big(20 oz pours). I had the Honey Brown Ale and was worried it might be sweet, but it wasn’t. Just malty and roasty, my favorite! Didn’t try any of the food, but it liked like typical pub fare. Being the only brewery in the area, it’s definitely worth checking out. Oh and don’t miss their specials, likee $ 4 beers all day Sunday!

Above average for what it really is. I enjoy their weekday specials, the only reason why I actually go there as well as their beers. Their deep fried pickles are pretty good and pair well with beer. And I would recommend their burgers, they are all pretty tasty and they have a pretty vast selection. Their Asian selection is pretty good as long as you’re not looking authentic Asian cousin. Their late night menu is slightly smaller but they do still have their staple dishes. I absolutely love the the atmosphere, it is loud so if you are looking for a quiet place I would suggest going somewhere else!

I was very excited to try this place as I live in close proximity. The beer is pretty good. I have been happy with both the Rodeo Red Ale and the Clover IPA. The food is mediocre at best. I tried the kung pao chicken stir fry, which I found to be quite bland. On another occasion, I tried the Montréal smoked meat which tasted similar to the brand that you can buy from Costco. Even the french fries disappointed me. I have tried a number of other items on different occasions but have not been impressed with any of them. I think the menu has far too many items on it. This place needs to go back to the drawing board, and focus on coming up with a smaller menu with higher quality items. If the food improved, I would be a regular customer.

great place, great times. reasonable prices, good pub food(beer battered garlic fries are a favourite), bar side has comfy booths as well as communal tables, tv’s all around and a pool table that makes for some great entertainment. servers danielle and sara are super cool. dj ali baba will make sure you have a great time on thursdays. oooh and a complimentary shuttle that runs thursday thru the weekend(pick-up & drop-off)!

I had the Singapore Night Market Noodles on recommendation from a friend. I was a little leary as I am not a curry fan, usually it over powering. However I will say that this dish was perfectly balanced and I would order it again. A very well done dish.

Bathrooms smelled like piss and puke-disgusting! But once you get past that the service was fine that’s about it. Would I go back… No!

A little bit loud, but the food is good and the prices are reasonable. Our server tonight, James, was very impressive! He was friendly, polite and quite attentive.

Consistently good food and service so far. Sunday pizza and beer specials are the reason we come here, the children packs are a bonus.

My 4 star rating and review is based mostly on my experiences at their old location. I have only been to their new location once. I had always had a great experience there. The staff was well trained and friendly. Great beer selection. The menu had many Asian influenced items as well as some pub favourites. All made very well. The thing I liked most about this pub was the ambiance. It had that very quaint, comfy but rustic wood feel. The wood burning fireplace was a feature that made you want to sit around all day or night in the winter months. I don’t know if I had ever been in a pub more perfect than this one. That was then… As mentioned, I have only been to the new location once. This is partly due to me moving from Surrey to Langley. My trek used to be literally a 5 minute walk from home to the pub’s front door. Now it is a good 20 minute drive. Distance has been a factor, but for anyone who knows me, I will travel a great many provinces/states to get to my favourite food spots. There were a few things that soured the milk for me at the new location: 1. The Wok Squid dish had changed!!! God knows why they would change a well known, popular dish of theirs, but they did. Less cilantro(cilantro was the kicker in this dish). Lighter on the seasoning(the saltiness was another addictive quality of the dish), lighter on the spice, lighter on the garlic/shallots. Worst of all, the crispy coating(which a server once shared was a combination of a few different starches — potato, rice, corn), was less crispy and more crunchy. They just should not have touched this dish… ever. It was perfect the first time around. 2. No more wood burning fireplace. It was a really charming part of the pub that can not be replaced by gas. 3. The space lost its cozy feel and not just because of the fireplace. The size and layout is also to blame. I almost hate that I ever knew the old location. It was a short 2 years with a pub that I fear will never be again, nor will I find again. Nostalgia can be so bitter. I plan on going back to give it another shot, but it will sure have to impress for me to make the drive out more often.

Big Ridge never fails to deliver top-notch hand-crafted beer in a comfortable pub setting. I really like their exposed wood/industrial feel décor. The wait staff are very friendly(with one notable exception, who is clearly not suited to the job) and seem genuinely glad to welcome you back. A couple of the pub staff in particular will greet us with, «Hey, how are you guys? Haven’t seen you in a while» which makes us feel like part of the inner circle. The food offerings vary widely from burgers, pizza, wok meals and salads to Asian-fusion. There’s something for just about everyone. There are multiple TVs in the pub and game days will draw a large(and vocal) sports crowd. If this isn’t your thing, the same menu is available on the quieter restaurant side of the facility.
