History

Established in 1957.

In 1957, Peter Hamstra opened his business in Strathroy selling mainly textiles and other dry goods. The demand for carpet and flooring prompted him to change the name from Hamstra Dry Goods to Hamstra Flooring. He worked with his sons, Wick and Jake, who succeeded him in the business. They joined Carpet One in 1995 in order to take advantage of the opportunities that a large buying group affords. Wick became partners with his son Richard in 2001 and has since retired. Richard carries on the family business with his dedicated and experienced staff.
