A Tech Automotive Repair

I purchased a vw vanagon from out of province. I’ve never used this business before, so braced myself as I have had bad experiences with other mechanics in the past. All my worries were for nothing. This shop was Awesome.
I was able to get in for the inspection quickly. The price was very fair. I needed a new master break cylinder (which we already suspected) and a horn. We sourced our own cylinder (which they were completely fine with) and said we would source our own horn. When the master break thing came in, they were more than accommodating in fitting me in. We forgot to get a horn, they supplied one for us for cheap. They did all the work necessary in a single day and were incredibly reasonable with their prices.
I would absolutely recommend this business. I found them to be HONEST, accommodating, and knowledgeable.
I am very happy I found them and will be using them from here on out.

I responded to a Kijiji ad for this garage to have an out of province inspection done on my vehicle, having just moved to Alberta.
The technician agreed to complete the inspection in the evening after hours. He indicated that he was mainly concerned about overall safety of the vehicle, and less concerned about technicalities. He jacked up the front end of my truck and requested that I use a pry bar to lift each front wheel, and then pull/​push on the front wheels from side to side. He immediately told me that my vehicle failed, due to ball joint play. I told him that the truck was under factory warranty and that I would take it to the dealership to have this fixed. I brought my truck to the dealer and had them investigate. Two different technicians and a shop foreman inspected my truck and indicated that there were no issues with the ball joints. I called A-​Tech and informed the technician that the dealer would certify the ball joints, and that they had guaranteed that there were no issues. He refused, and told me that the truck would not be certified unless I replaced all ball joints ($ 2500).
I ended up having the dealer complete the out of province inspection for an additional $ 220 (on top of the $ 200 cash I had already paid to A-​Tech. I can only assume that A-​Tech is dishonest or incompetent.
