I personally didn’t like it but I suppose I knew better than to get a beef dip with blue cheese. My wife really enjoyed it. Surroundings were nice, but with the open kitchen concept you get to hear the staff complain about there terrible manager. would I go back no.

Went to Bistro 26 for our anniversary last night. Place is nice inside, has an open kitchen area, fireplace and leather chairs. They have a large room separate from the restaurant area that was used for a Christmas party. We had«date night«–an appetizer, an entrée each, a shared dessert and a bottle of wine for $ 80. We started with mushroom toast, I had chicken supreme, Dan had the pork schnitzel and we shared the turtle cheesecake-the waitress added a scoop of raspberry sorbet. We had white House wine. Not one complaint about any of the food– it was all delicious and all homemade. The waitress Laura was awesome-she checked in with us more than once to ensure we were ok to eat leisurely and were not in a hurry to get somewhere. Food was delivered at the perfect pace. I think we have found our new favourite place to eat!

For roadside off the beaten path dining, this is great. It really beats anything in Barrie period.

Myself and my boyfriend drive by here all the time so we decided to try it. The hostess was super nice from the get-go, very helpful and gave us an amazing seat right by the fire. The food was AMAZING. We got this mushroom toast starter and have to say it is the best thing i have ever eaten. Yum yum yum. Will definitely be back :-)

I’ve driven by this place several times, and finally decided to drop it. We stopped in for Sunday brunch/lunch. The place looks casual on the outside, but the décor is actually pretty elegant on the inside. Dressed in sweat pants and a hoodie, this didn’t stop us. We were seated on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The back patio has a view of the small airport that’s behind the restaurant. We had the french toast, it was really good — my friend devoured it within seconds, I didn’t get to try any. I ordered off the lunch menu wings and poutine. The poutine was delicious I’d eat that again for sure but the wings were only so-so because there wasn’t enough sauce. The atmosphere is a bit cottagey. A fancy cottage. We really enjoyed that and the waitress was really friendly. I will stop in for dinner next time to try out some different dishes.

Walked in with no preconceived notion about this restaurant. Immediately noticed how elegant it looked. The hostess must have been busy because we waited for a bit before sitting ourselves… needless to say that should have indicated how the staff would be. Waited 20 min before walking out because not even so much as a menu came our way. I will never go back.

Bistro 26 is a great restaurant with friendly staff. Great fly in location for a great dinner. The entrees are always good, but the soups can be better. My recommendation is to always try their specials of the day if they have because it’s always good! I always choose to fly to Edenvale airport just for some food ! Highly recommend for a fly in!

We were nearby for an event and decided to eat there. They had a limited menu but a few different choices, which was fine. The food was decent, the french toast had fruit and what I think was ginger in it, it was different and good. The prices were not great for breakfast, but not unreasonable. Where their rating dropped down for me was the extremely slow service. I mean, it was not even a reasonably slow wait to receive the bill, it was about half an hour. I was sitting there packed up holding my credit card in my hand for about fifteen minutes, so it should have been obvious we were ready to go. Maybe they were short staffed, it did get busier after we were there for a while, but they should have planned ahead since they knew there was an event, and the waitress should not have completely ignored a table for about an hour. You might want to give this place a try if you are not in a hurry to get somewhere, but I’ll probably be avoiding it because sitting around ignored in a restaurant is not the way I like to spend a day.

About halfway between Barrie and Wasaga Beach is a small airport on highway 26. At this small airport there is a restaurant called Bistro 26. This is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in the middle of no where! Every item that we ordered was made with care and love. The taste was a reward for their hard work. The vegetables were fresh, and the cook can do amazing things with it. I highly recommend stopping by on your way to or from the cottage.
