Paid Cold Creek CA a visit yesterday while attending Feast of Fields and was really impressed with how beautiful the area is. Located just north of King Rd on 11th Concession, we had a little trouble locating the place using GPS(which auto corrected us to an address in the 15000 block) but after a few U turns we found the gates. To quote their website: «Cold Creek Conservation Area is an ecologically diverse and sustainable natural area. It is a model of sustainability that can be achieved by protecting and enhancing the area’s natural environment while providing outdoor education, cultural and heritage experiences and recreation. The Cold Creek Conservation Area consists of 190 hectares within the Humber River watershed(a designated Canadian Heritage River). A portion of the property lies within the „Natural Linkage“ policy area of the Oak Ridges Moraine. The Conservation Area is significant due to its unique natural features. Existing mixed conifer swamp forest contains black spruce which is rare in Southern Ontario and is home to a wide array of plant and animal species.» The landscape is gorgeous the atmosphere serene and the drive beautiful. Definitely a little slice of untouched rural GTA heaven nestled between farmers fields. There is more than enough parking and from what I could see based on my limited experience at Feast of Fields, and the grounds sprawled out for what seemed like forever. So glad to discover this place — highly recommend you pay it a visit
